Literature is important to study, with the proper mindset, because your eyes will be opened by the experiences you are reading. Even you’re not there, not seeing the things happening before you’re eyes, it’s like you are there. You can learn many things by reading literature, you can learn other people’s tradition without going to that country. You can see different kinds of people, their lives, and you can learn from their success and their mistakes which you can apply in your life too.

As literature let’s us see the lives of the people on the pages of it. It teaches us to be empathic and human by seeing their different problems in life. We can see different perspectives and put our shoe on it. We can think that if we are that character, what is the thing we would possibly do or say. We can see the different sides of the story and understand the people on it.

Definitive Essay About Compassion

According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, Compassion is a “sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it”. A “sympathetic” consciousness, being sympathetic is one thing and being compassionate is another. Being sympathetic means that you show, feel, or express concern to a person who is in a bad situation. However, being compassionate means that you also show, feel, or express concern but you want to help that person overcome that bad situation. Helping that person not just in money. You can help him by helping him on his task, showing him how to do it, motivating him, eating with him, exercising, praying for him and to sum it up, you must spend time with him/her.

“To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves.“

I agree with this passage. Having a desire and being quiet about it is like having a candle which you can use to be a light and pass the fire to others candle too but you chose to be quiet so you just blew it out. I remembered another quotation when I read this. It is a quotation from Edmund Burk which says “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Imagine a circumstance where you are the only witness of someone getting bullied and beaten up, there are no CCTVs to prove the victim’s statement. What will you do? Will you stand up, speak out, and take the risk of getting threatened but results to the bully getting punished or will you be quiet and let the bully continue beating the victim and others as well. Can you choose to be quiet about it and believe that you will have no regrets?

Thoughts on Love

I haven’t had any romantic relationship since the summer prior entering Grade 7 (which I can define as puppy love). From that experience, I knew that I wasn’t ready yet. I am not yet whole. I still have many things to learn in life, even now.

Love is not like a trial and error thing where after failing in one relationship you move to another relationship and if it fails again, you move to another relationship and when the times comes where you meet the one who God prepared for you, you don’t have anything left to give because you’ve wasted it on other failed relationships. Love is not a child’s play, it’s affects (either positive or negative) not just your life but others too since family is the basic unit of society. So we should think carefully if the character that we will duplicate into our child is Christ’s character or ourselves which is self-centered and sinful.

We should learn from the first marriage, Adam and Eve. Before Adam could meet Eve, he was spending time with God. Before Eve could meet Adam, she was with God. What does this mean? Two would have to be with God before they are with somebody else. If you’re not with God today, you don’t have the right to be with somebody else. Before Adam could meet Eve, he was put into deep sleep and while he was sleeping God was preparing Eve. We should also submit ourselves unto God, into His deep sleep, and while we are submitted God will be the one who’ll prepare our spouses. Why was Eve made from the rib of Adam? To symbolize that our wives are “help meet” as based on Genesis 2:18, not help master to rule over us and not help made to be trampled over but just beside us, for us to help and protect each other. Eve was then presented to Adam. This means that Eves don’t have the right to go present themselves to a man, God has to present you to a man He has prepared for you. There are many things that we can learn in the Bible about love and we can summarize it as “God is love”. So in order for us to learn how to truly love, we must first truly know God.

The Return

Death is inevitable. We can be dead in God’s timing or be dead not fully living the life that God planned for us to have because of our own faults like lifestyles diseases, suicide, etc. Nevertheless, it is heartbreaking, heartwrenching, devastating, whatever sad adjectives, to lose someone whether it is a person or a pet. Especially when we haven’t fully done our best spending whatever resources we have like time, money,etc., with them. 

They say that it’s better to give flowers to a person while they are living instead of when they are 6 feet below the ground, but we humans tend to do it when it is too late, “nasa huli ang pagsisisi”. We tend to take things for granted and when we lost it, then we finally understood how important that thing or person is. So we should make time because we will never have time unless we choose to. Try our best to speak kind words to anyone because what if it is their last day and you spent the last day with him speaking hurtful words or doing something bad. Make time to be with our loved ones for we do not fully hold our lives.

This Crazy Feeling Called Love

As I read this essay, I can sense that she fell in love at first sight with the boy even though she promised to herself that she won’t fall for it. She fell for his looks, his outward appearance. I think she assumed that he is interested too with her because of his kindness and taking the initiative to talk with her. Then the next day, she saw him being kind and talking with another girl plus holding hands with eyes showing that they have mutual feelings long before. It immediately broke her just like the way she fell immediately for him. I saw a post before in Facebook that says “We should love, not fall in love, because everything that falls, gets broken.”, maybe it’s applicable in this situation. Falling in love at first sight, I don’t believe in this thing. I believe in the thing called “growing in love”. You choose to love someone, using your heart and your brain, unlike falling in love where your heart is the only one that steers the wheel. Growing in love is when you take time, even taking many years, to communicate, to know each other, discovering your flaws and strengths and deciding whether you can be together til’ death separates you.
