EDIT: I MIXED UP NEKOMATA AND CANDACE'S SKINTONES! The bottom-left gradient chart has them correct, but the one on the top had them mixed up because I reordered them by value. Sorry about that!

I was working on a bigger skintone chart but I noticed something very... concerning.

Woolsey is the darkest character in all of Hoyoverse - A MINOR NPC. So here's a smaller chart.

I love Woolsey to bits and he's my favorite character so far, but it's not fair that a NPC that people have only seen like once or twice with like 5 voicelines get more melanin than *anyone else*.

I'm not sure if I'll finish the expanded chart today (which includes all Natlan and Sumeru characters minus Wanderer, plus more NPCs), but I just needed to throw this out there because... something about this feels really bad. Anyone else is free to make a similar chart.

I just don't know what to say. Feel free to add more to this thread, such as NPCs with darker skintones.

The erasure and whitewash of the Latin American and places like Nigeria in west Africa culture is undeniably disrespectful. Ororon is supposed to be Oloron, (they even screwed up his name) and he is inspired by a Nigerian god in Yoruba city, but in the game he is depicted as a PALE MAN! BUT WE AS A PLAYER BASE CAN DO SOMETHING AND EDUCATE HOYOVERSE. A LOT of people use the excuse that “there are light skinned people in ___ culture!” But there are also darker skinned people apart of the culture too, so why not implement that in the game? Before Natlan is released, I implore you, PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND THEN EMAIL HOYOVERSE AT [email protected]

guys I think I know what Hoyo's problem is.

Today I woke up hoping that they listened to people's criticism and changed their skin colours. If so many chinese players and even some VAs were unhappy, then surely they'd care, right? No, they released the drip marketing as it is. (also the design of the images were so unique, wtf? That surprised me since it looks so different from normal Genshin)

They didn't change anything because they know they don't have to. Millions of players will still spend money on the game. They will still c6 the new characters. To them, skin colours don't matter if they still make money.

We can't control the millions of players, especially chinese (their biggest audience), to not spend their money. Which means that, unfortunately, the characters will still be white.

Unless some kind of miracle happens and they lose millions of dollars because of this, there is no guarantee that they will change their ways.

They really looked at Iansan and thought "eh, one black character is enough, they'll still eat it up"

Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina with skin tones based on what are as far as I know the peoples they're based on: Native Hawaiians for Mualani, Maya peoples for Kinich, and Pueblo peoples for Kachina. If I made any mistakes please let me know.
