it is fascinating to me how in many ways shinobu and mitsuri are opposite from their fighting style to their deeper emotions, which makes me mad they got So little shared panel space in the manga and like No bonus content together 💔

there are times in DS when exacted vengeance is done in such a satisfying way... and that hope and love can't save them. tanjiro's kind heart won't magically fix it. to me it's fun to think about the tragedy of shinobu's self-imposed fate and how even her finding happiness or even love with mitsuri wouldn't change her course.

#half baked thought but. shinobu envies mitsuri's strength. mitsuri finds shinobu calm and collected and cool.#it's just nice that they're not the same girl copy pasted #and that shinobu's desires are heavily seated in resentment and vengeance and hurt. while mitsuri's are in love and hope.

me at work where i can’t easily access kny manga: i have to know right neow if uzui always used twin blades or if that was new to him once he became a slayer/hashira

to answer my own question it is hard to say. there are only two flashbacks of distinct "times" in uzui's life, one at the family grave/directing his wives on their new life philosophy and the other as he speaks with ubayashiki. the latter shows him with his twin swords and in his current hashira outfit (hair change aside). otherwise he isn't shown with any weapon.

it intrigues me at all because being a shinobi does not warrant this type of weaponry, not to mention wearing jangling chains is entirely antithetical to the entire career, so it feels improbably to even consider this being something he used before becoming a slayer. did he train with a single sword? did he try multiple weapons? basic nichirin swords/katana are highly accessible to slayers so it makes sense he would start there, even if he has prowess from the get-go in his demon slaying career. hrm.

#there may be more canon context i'm unaware of. for now. i'll just use my imagination.

i have been reading the manga as i said i would but i’m finding that i’m getting a lot more value out of zooming in and spending hours at time examining character dynamics than i am by simply reading the story…… like there are patterns i would never have noticed had i just zipped through in chronological order

after i finish the rengoku family i actually want to focus on shinobu next
