[TUNIS] Proudly announcing the short Poetry Film produced and directed by the wonderful @liasaile. In it youâll find some of our Voices members. Premiere FRI 28.9., 4:30 PM @zebrapoetryfilmfestival Schloss MĂŒnster Zebra Poetry Film Festival - Poem by Adrian Kasnitz - #tunispoetryfilm
[InBetweenLights 2018] Itâs funny to see how perfectly the colonian lantern fits into the image of the Medina of Tunis. People walking by as if her place was always there. As if it was nothing more simple to bring integrate this lantern into the tunisian sphere. While in reality it took a lot of patience, passion and above all persistance to take up the challenge of exchanging two streetlanterns from two different continents/cultures. Without exaggeration @liasaile You are the embodiment of these three attributes. Even though she was ill, she managed to keep this project runnig until the end. Such an inspiring, strong and intelligent power-woman. Thank you. #inbetweenlights2018

#Repost @liasaile ă»ă»ă» [IN BETWEEN LIGHTS] On Monday super early morning everyone arrived on time, one after the other, to remove the existing Tunis pole, drill a deep hole, place the Cologne base into the ground, stabilize it with cement and wait for it to dry. On Tuesday we continue with the arms! More about the whole process on Monday follows tomorrow. Meanwhile check the Highligh âIBL 4â in my profile, stories and live in my profile, ehere all steps are already shared!
#Repost @liasaile ă»ă»ă» [IN BETWEEN LIGHTS] Here you can see the Bab Bhar (Sea Gate), the core of the concept. In the previous pic you see the Souk, the old Arabic market. So, first step, done. We decided for a different lantern but the reasons convinced me, it is closer to the Souks and MĂ©dina (old Arabic city core) and is still part of the Bab Bhar (Sea Gate), which is in the background. Ayshik to Aymen, Kareem and Mariem for their hard work and best decision making in my absentia. I am still very very anxious about the actual installation technically - its a different technique inside the pole, a cable more (savety) in the German version and the pole goes much deeper and cannot be screwed to the ground so I am really really curious how they will work around that. We continue on Monday so that means 4 âfullâ (inshâallah!) days to solve any upcoming problems. Looking forward to working with the Municipality of Tunis next week. Everyone is trying really hard to make things work. Ahmed @ahmed_almunirawi was there to take some pictures for me as they had already done it in the early morning. #Repost @liasaile ă»ă»ă» [IN BETWEEN LIGHTS] THIS is where we will place the Cologne lantern today. I still canât believe it. đI just realized that we are finalizing this very long journey, this hard walk of obstacles and discussions, convincing and struggling, enthusiastic celebrations and fights with feather loss here and there. So many partners made this possible. Over 35 people and their teams have worked on this project. To do what? To exchange one street lantern with another between Tunis and Cologne, Europe and Africa, sending them across the sea, going through a complex journey system - consciously resembling that of migration. To this day we donât know if the lanterns will be allowed to stay. To this day we have opposing voices about the project. But I am making the move and seeing it through with all these amazing helpers paving the way and putting their expertise, postion, power, knowledge and experience to use for the sake of this art, this journey, this movement. So here, at place de la Victoire infront of the Eastern Gate BAB BHAR (Sea gate), that connects (or divides) the Arabic traditional disctrict with the European one, the street light is placed. Today it feels surreal that after 11 1/2 months (a year!) we finally walk the last steps. I cannot even express if it is joy or wonder or intimidation or disbelief or a frgginâ celebratory super party in my head - probably all of it. Now inshâallah the technical step needs to work out. Its a process. And not only is it a process but it is ALL about the process. Was never about the lanterns. But about everything in between - the lights and the darkness! - @interference_light_art Opening 2: THU, Sept 6th, 6 PM @ Dar Interference 4 impasse Katarina, Rue Achour, Tunis followed by a tour through the MĂ©dina Installation site in Tunis: Bab Bhar, Place de la Victoire - @kunsthochschulefuermedien #inbetweenlights2018 #tunis #cologne #sistercities #partnercities #twincities #mayor #artinpublicspace https://www.instagram.com/p/BnQqLZ3lr-l/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=119qmkc05nnb3

#Repost @liasaile ă»ă»ă» [IN BETWEEN LIGHTS] Dear friends, followers, supporters; we soon enter the next 2 exciting and nerve wrecking stages of IN BETWEEN LIGHTS. If all goes well and the Cologne lantern gets out of customs next Monday đ€đœto be delivered to the depot on TuesdayđđŸ, we will slowly transition into the phase of re-negotiating the Bab Bhar gate, the Sea Gate, Eastern Gate of Tunisâ MĂ©dina (old city core), marking the division of the old Arabic quarter and the European quarter. Tunisia was part of the âscramble for Africa/Wettlauf um Afrikaâ. The Scramble for Africa was the occupation, division, and colonization of African territory by European powers during the period of New Imperialism, whoch took place between 1881 and 1914. The lantern that we chose is an actual memory an actual symbol of that time and together with the gate connection (Eastern Gate Bab Bhar, Western Gate Hahnentor) forms the core of my art workâs concept. As many may know, the Arabic Revolution, associated with the Jasmine flower, started in 2011. In May this year the Tunisian capital Tunis saw the first mayoral election since the Arab Spring uprising. The new woman mayor is Souad Abderrahim, who actually dedicated her victory to "all women who have struggled" to reach senior positions. This new situation means new negotiation about the location where the lantern will be set up. Conceptually, it needs a gate, and the Bab Bhar is - of all gates - the perfect match. We have until 6th of September to get the permission and set up the Cologne lantern. These two points - location and installation - will be the hardest and last challanges of the whole project. @interference_light_art is working hard behind the scenes to make it happen. Please cross your fingers for us that everything works out and then is done in time for Intereference light art festival in Tunis. I will return to Tunis then! - Opening 1: 16th May 18, Cologne - Opening 2: 6th September, Interference Light Art Festival, Tunis, Tunisia - @voicesofjasmine @collumina_lightartproject @stadt.koeln @henriettereker @heinen.ralf #inbetweenlights2018 #tunis #cologne #sistercities #partnercities (hier: Cologne, Germany)
#Repost @liasaile ă»ă»ă» [IN BETWEEN LIGHTS] Pick up day! We are preparing the shipment for the second part of the art project. Today the first truck will pick up the lantern from storage and drive them down to Bavaria, Augsburg, where they box will be reloaded onto another truck to be driven down to Italy, Genoa, for shipment to TUNIS! We canât wait! Please please cross your fingers that everything will go super smoothly at the Douane/customs at la goulette, or I will personally be bancrupt! I guess noone would be crazy enough to risk it but I trust in the good vibes of the project despite all the troubles of the first round and the information, that import is worse than export (what have I done...) and the mayor change of power in Tunis, we are confident we will see this through and get all obstacles solved.
