What’s your favorite thing to do to avoid responsibility?
I wish I had the luxury of avoiding responsibilities.
If you could choose anyone in the world to be your sibling who would it be?
It would have to be Playa.
What is the most sublime thing you have ever eaten and why?
Squares of corn grits sweetened with honey and maple syrup. Simple, I know, but this was my first memory of food.
What was the worst day of your life and why?
…this can be hard to talk about. It was the day that my mother passed. I was only 3. And the way the last year went… there’s a reason why so many fear the sickness that lingers by the wall at the edge of the forest.
What’s your worst nightmare?
Being found out.
If a monster asked you your worst nightmare what would you tell them and why?
I would stay quiet and run.
Would you give secret information if tortured? Be honest.

Who could you trust most with a secret?
Playa.

How good is your sleep schedule?
Good in that I go to bed and wake up at reasonable times, bad in that I often have strange dreams that keep me awake.
Do you have any siblings? If so, is your relationship good?
Only child. It’s a safe bet to assume that all my biological family are dead.
What’s the toughest time you had to endure growing up?
It would have to be these last two years. Everything rests on my shoulders.
What’s your relationship with your family like?
As of right now…there’s only me and my father. What happened two years prior hit him hard. I’ve tried to get through, but nothing’s seemed to work.
Do you have any hobbies? If so what ones?
Whittling, music, poetry, storytelling. There isn’t much free time, so I make the most of what I got.
Do you dream often? What do you dream about?
Dreams seem to be a recurring theme with me. Scenes of places and things as clear as when I am awake. I don’t understand them at first, and yet they always seem to foretell the future.
Have you ever been in love?
I think I’m a little young for all that
What is your least favorite thing in the world?
Depression. It hits you hard. No energy, no will, it feels like a weight has been dropped on you.
What is your pet peeve?
Others being late, not being considerate, not returning things that were borrowed, those sort of things.
Would you consider yourself different?
I mean, I am a bird in a place where birds are not welcomed (please keep this and all matters regarding my identity a secret—no one is supposed to know about this).
How far would you go to save a loved one?
I’d put my life on the line, stare death in the face and not flinch.

It would have to be a real desperate situation…

‘Your mother was a turtle’, ‘You couldn’t follow a straight line.’
What is the nicest thing someone could say to you?
They enjoy my company, that I was helpful, and my presence is appreciated.

Pretty neat.

Let it out. There’s no good in keeping it all bottled up.
Who do you live for? Why?
For Playa. And for my mother . Neither would want me to give up on myself.
Who has betrayed you the most?
If anyone has, it would have to be myself.
What style of accessories do you wear? Is it willingly?
Nothing too flashy-I know, unusual for a crow, but I’ve learned to keep some things personal and to not present myself as someone who stands out. That being said, beads, tassels and such are always on the table.

"I don't usually have responsibilities. But probably mining."

"I wouldn't. But if I had to... Therial, I guess."

"Probably the day I died in the Void and got brought back wrong. That was pretty bad in the moment."

"... Being trapped. With no way out."

"Depends what kind of monster. If we're talking some kind of mob, I'd tell it the truth. Not like it can do anything to me. If you mean a real monster, someone who can do something to me? I'd probably tell them "dying". It won't stick, anyways."

"Figuring out survival mostly on my own from scratch. Yeah, I was alive, but... Barely."

"They never gave a shit about me and I didn't give a shit about them. They probably died. I don't care."

"A few, actually. Mining is the big one, but... Journalling, recently. And painting. When we have time."

"The, ah... the day I lost my dear Madeline. It felt as thought I'd buried a part of myself."

"Falling under the control of something- or someone- else. When I found out what thralling was..." [grimaces] "Horrific thing."

"I would tell them dying, because I'm not foolish enough to actually disclose my fears to something that would use them against me. What's a fourth time, after all?"

"I may have a decent pain tolerance, but torture is a different story. I'm not trained to tolerate it, I don't know how long I'd last even if I attempted to keep my mouth shut."

"It...would depend on the secret, I suppose? For some things, Rotia or Gawain. For others, Albyn. And if it's regarding work, Nicolai."

"I was a sheltered rich kid. The hardest thing was the isolation, everything else was practically spoon-fed to me."

"I'll admit, I got a bit...mm.. embarrassed? when the maps I'd made were complimented. Praise feels....strange. I'm not used to it."

"I prefer to stay organized, though my packs can become a mess if I've been traveling for a while."

"For so long, it was only for myself. Now I have others I don't want to leave behind just yet."

"Thompson acted like a friend once. Then he cut my throat open."
What style of accessories do you wear? Is it willingly?
"I don't really wear 'accessories' outside of the necessary ones, I suppose? My pocket watch, compasses, satchels - though I'm still not used to not having my glasses. I've lost count of how many times I've tried to adjust them just for them to not be there.

gonna be real I first read that as "biteable" and was like "owen sure has thought about it"
he is very blindable.... we don't know how poor his vision is in his good eye but those lenses are not for show.... I think for my headcanon he can still see in his good eye fairly well but he's nearsighted.
I'd imagine the monocle could easily get lost in a fight. he didn't come to oakhurst expecting altercations so I doubt he came in expecting to have to worry about something like that. not sure how he'd work around that once fighting is very much common (like session 6)... we're many decades away from contact lenses being popular. as a fellow guy with a bad left eye I sympathize. sorry doc.
Actually blinding the Doc would be an interesting flavor of whump, and one that a few vsmp characters might be ruthless enough to try — especially in fic. Scott might notice the glass eye before anyone else and decide to target it specifically. Owen might blind that side out of spite (giving Legs matching scars!), not realizing that his other eye was already glass. Pyro could easily accomplish the task in an excess of enthusiasm and/or blood lust.
Either way, now you have a blind doctor — someone who is, to his mind, worse than useless. He can’t do surgery. Cant brew potions. Can’t fight. Reduced to a “drain on town resources”, I imagine he would be horribly tempted just to wander into the forest and wait for a skeleton to finish him off.
But then, what if someone from town decided to become his hands?
Doc knows how to make medicine — maybe Avid sticks around him and collaborates with Legs to work on the cure? Drift is compassionate and has a lot of attention to detail — I could see her asking Doc what herbs/plants he needs from the forest and going out on fetch quests for him.
Perhaps someone gets seriously hurt and *needs* stitches — Abolish has a pair of steady hands, a strong stomach and the ability to keep up a calm, collected stream of words while everyone else is panicking. Maybe the Doc can coach him through basic field surgery.
Idk. Maybe Owen becomes ridiculously protective of him after his injury, especially if it was caused by him. Doc’s blindness might not change very much in the long run… or it might change everything.
