did you know: i write poems. you can now read some of them here. i also made these title cards because the idea of just having the text there for everyone to look at without anything else was scary to me lol but also i think they make a nice enough post by themselves
the best thing a queer creator can do to avoid fan harassment is to make art that no one under the age of 30 will touch with a ten foot pole
little landscapes
sloppy vampire oc scribbles
i've been exploring the ancient artes again lol
sir, that’s my emotional support imaginary world

taking off a mask to reveal what lies beneath as a romantic gesture is overdone, and besides i want to see the romantic or even platonic potential of protecting someone's identity beneath the mask, without any expectation of ever being allowed to see what's under it. picking it up and holding it gently to their face when it's knocked off and they're in danger of being exposed, without trying to catch a glimpse of what they "really" look like under there. throwing yourself in front of them to hide them from view while they put themselves back together without taking advantage or looking back to see what you're protecting. learning to read them by body language, tone of voice, and behaviour so well that you never need to see their face to feel like you know and understand them.
and needless to say. the mask stays on during sex.
i'm trying to get better at sharing my characters and worldbuilding (scary and cringe), so here are some nesrîn facts:
she grew up in LEO, hence the lank and visual impairment. her parents were salvagers who took apart old space stations before they burned up on reentry. you're not supposed to have kids with you in orbit, but this was during the second uprising so they thought it was safer this way.
she lost both her hands to infection after surviving an electrical fire aboard one of those stations. this is how she ended up at the nunnery. they have good med facilities, state of the art experimental prosthetics, and highly questionable ideas around what counts as informed consent in minors.
her prosthetic arms were supposed to have these skin-like sleeves over them with fingernails and everything. she fucking hated them. they kept slipping. and worse, they felt more like an attempt to make others comfortable with her disability. fuck that.
she's a photography nerd and even develops her own film. she also transcribes media as a hobby. she's especially interested in media that her government restricts or censors. some of it is political in nature, but a lot of it is just porn. she takes accessibility very seriously.
nes brings a people-first approach to the role of head security officer that prisca's enforcer goons don't really like. she doesn't care if you're breaking the rules, as long as you're not endangering yourself or others. like if she catches you defacing a wall with spray paint, she'll likely get you a respirator and go about her day.
she's uncomfortable in wide open spaces. growing up in various tin cans floating through space, and spending adolescence and adulthood in a bunker monastery will likely do that.
nesrîn is a deeply avoidant person. she'd rather hatch an elaborate scheme to avoid the mildest personal conflict. this has worked out great so far.
the key to understanding light and colour is that they're the same thing. but you have to understand them separately because they speak different languages culturally, symbolically, and the only way to use them really well is by lying. art is stupid btw.

here's a kitten update. just a little headsup, there's a picture of a kitten with an eye infection below the cut.
