It has been tempting to join the team flashing bright flame and she had a difficult time with choosing between the three legendary birds, but with the ridiculous rivalry between Mystic and Valor, she chose to join the team with a little less drama. Becoming ‘rivals’ with one of her favourite friends was a little unexpected and she can’t help but laugh quietly at Andie’s reaction. She answered, holding her hands up in mock surrender, “We can keep this on the downlow and sometimes steal the gym from one another——”

     “do i have to report this to my team? that i’m fraternising with someone from the rival team...” her eyes widen as she considered the repercussions she’d have to suffer for going against the rule.. before waving it all off dismissively with one hand. she was kidding, of course she was. there was no way she could be rivals-- especially not with sweet chanhyun. “tell you what, i’ll definitely help you out in the game wherever i can! these are times where we have to stand by each other, right? plus, i can’t imagine us having to fight head to head with one another. that’d be disastrous!”

        “okay let’s get something straight.” for the most part he’s still waking up, grogginess shows in how he has to grip the back of a chair for support. irritation blooms not only in his eyes, now covered by sunglasses ( conveniently so ) and in how quickly he turns to her once her attack on his person is done. andie doesn’t mean it, he tries to let those whispers flit through his mind before he responds he tries he really does. but it’s as she said, it’s early, clearly too early for anyone to really be okay with being awake and handling a near career-ending crisis but they’re up and here they are. he’s tired for more reasons than he can count and she’s stressed for one sole reason that could match up to his in a second. he cannot demean that, he must not but damn is he tired and every word she says grates at his ears. not because it’s loud but because seriously the accusations this girl can throw out when she’s upset. if he weren’t so cranky he’d compliment her for even daring to do so.

        “it’s three am. nothing is going to change that it’s three am in the fucking morning and I thought your laptop was mine and now your work is gone.” the first sign of a totally gone kihyun is the fact that he admits hi faults. his mistakes. him? master of narcissism? unbelievable. “this is important right? very important? so how about you stop acting like I’m pulling ideas out of my ass and let’s just get out of here already.” he’s still getting ready though, fixing a jacket around his frame because goddamn he put it on backwards, and the finally fixing her prized possession into his backpack. usually the words would come out with a lot more, like a couple snide remarks about how she’s taking so long and about how it’s ungodly to expect him to do anything in this state, plus he’s doing it for free! god is he out of it he’s going to regret this.

        “there is no way in hell I would drag you around campus without some kind of plan in mind.” he’s tried. he’s still reliving the few hours before he came to andie’s house but he’s waking up more and more and finding his rationale slipping out. faded as kihyun could be he never let it interfere with how he constructed his plans, and the idea to go outside and seek help had to be carefully thought for someone like him. resources had to be exhausted, pride sacrificed.

        “it’s better to have trust in situations like this because if you don’t trust in me I might just disappear and we can’t have that.” he’s a little more awake now, more attentive and understanding of the situation. he’s got a little of his sarcasm back but he’s still tired and game deprived. he does manage to prop the door open after making sure he looks somewhat presentable. “just follow me.” it should be noted that at all times of crisis kihyun’s mind has never let him down. of course he had a plan.

     ... was he actually mad at her? what has this situation escalated into? under what circumstances should he be venting out his frustrations at her (of all people, because wasn’t he the one who singlehandedly deleted her draft for her submission?), and not at the laptop instead? right. the laptop is to blame. damn keys and their strategic positioning that caused him to delete the whole thing by accident. she feels her mouth dropping open as she takes a few seconds to stare at him in disbelief. she’s just processing his words then. trying to make sense of it all despite the exhaustion already drawing her in. it wouldn’t take too long now before she starts rambling incomprehensibly before she knocks out and she was going to have to make use of every second she’s awake and alert now to salvage the situation. “what are you even mad about? seriously!” she rolls her eyes, exasperated at how this was turning out. okay, so maybe the game fanatic might actually have a feasible plan in mind, but knowing kihyun, the plan forming in his head then probably wasn’t one that she should expect too much from. hey-- don’t blame her. she knows him well after all (or at least she thought, since it was best for her to prepare for the worst case scenarios in this case).

     watching how he was struggling with just his jacket would’ve caused her to burst out laughing already, if not for her damned laptop. who would’ve known the always cool kihyun would fumble with something like that? she was perhaps going to laugh at it once this was all over but for now-- she was just going to tag along behind him like a lost puppy. wasn’t as if she had much of a choice and he seemed to have a plan so, to hell with it.

     “right? i knew you had something good in mind!” she clasps her hands together, excited at the prospect of someone else saving the day. the future of her academic career is now in his hands and if that wasn’t enough of a responsibility (or a burden), she didn’t know what is. “who are we looking for? a friend of yours? someone you know?” curiousity was biting at the back of her neck then because it wasn’t every day that one would know someone who would be willing to fix a missing document at three in the morning. three going to four in the morning. “is this person close by? do we need to call them up first?” the questions were probably going to bug him, and in turn result in him complaining, but she was just curious. who would be their knight in shining armor after a long day?

     though as quickly as the relief came by, she feels it dissipating at his newfound sarcasm and she raises her hands and starts hitting his arm once more before he had time to react.” don’t. you. dare! i swear to god, i’ll search the ends of the earth to find you if you dare to go missing with my laptop in your bag, kihyun.” she never makes empty threats and once she’s set her mind on doing something, she’d sure as hell see it through. with a quiet huff, she follows his steps though-- leading the both of them out onto campus in the cold, quiet night. this better be good.

There’s almost nothing more exciting than Pokémon Go in Chanhyun’s books minus the weddings she planned and helping people out. So, maybe it came in third place out of all the exciting things. Her eyes are bright as Andie speaks, but they’re not on the same team. “Battling is really fun!” A quiet laugh, “But I’m Instinct,” she answers with a smile and mischievous eyes, “This doesn’t make us rivals, does it Andie?”

     “instinct?” she gasps, as if surprised that the female would choose a team different from valor because really, valor was the team to be in. “oh no...” she starts shaking her head then, as if she’s trying to process the information before her expression turns grim. “what do we do now? i think we might be considered rivals now. do we have to fight each other? what is the protocol for this even?”

          if there was one thing kihyun didn’t appreciate it was orders. casually, cordial or serious he hated the lot. it’s because he moved with his own vibe and let his body adjust to whatever came his way. he couldn’t fathom restraining his voice and his actions to someone else’s desires? what a wild concept! it’s why he and his parents clashed heads every now and again. how can he accurately explain that he doesn’t cater to society’s standards of acute obedience. andie probably means nothing by saying he has to do anything, except that she really wanted to him and if it was in his good interest he should. his morals were always very clear anyway. that’s not the problem. the problem is that kihyun is so tired he doesn’t even realize she’s given him an order. naturally he’d be snapping back with every response contesting and arguing lack of free will masked as mannerisms. oh he’d throw it all at her. but it’s three-thirty in the morning and there’s a half broken task on his lap.

        “oh.……” sleeplessness wears on his lips, small wisps of airs slipping by with every word that should be spoken and cannot find itself formed. he touches the laptop first, leans forward and take sin the blank document. not because he doesn’t understand what she’s said but because it requires more immediate effort to truly grasp what the problem is. kihyun initially touched the laptop with the intent to relieve his mind of his awful night out and now he’s receiving nothing, no input, no response. he’s actually annoyed. his brows furrow in succession with the taps against the machine.

        he stands up first, no he lifts the laptop and then stands up. he’s wobbly enough to be mistaken for drunk, disheveled hair and bloodshot eyes but he still stands. he stands and folds the laptop under his arm. finding his shoes isn’t the hardest task but finding his jacket it. “get up loser we’re going to find someone more qualified to do this.” it’s not that he isn’t qualified. he’s got a few excuses to back up his state right now but for now he chooses the logical decision. he’s out of it and someone more awake should handle this. that annoys him even more.

     “at three in the morning?” ah, the usually positive andie would prove to be much better company than the scarily dejected one that was staring at kihyun as if he’d just grew another head. sure, students were always staying up late-- but it wasn’t every day that they could find someone who was up this late and was good with computers. this elusive person needed to be willing to help them out with their problem at hand and honestly, if she were being the least bit realistic, this sounded impossible. of course, seeing as to how the male was already getting ready to head out, it seems like he thought otherwise. or that he was simply helpless and asking for someone else’s help might be the smarter option in that case. whatever it was, she was in mad trouble and the worry of having to face the wrath of an angry professor sure didn’t sound like a good way to start an otherwise perfect day. 

     not that she had much time to think about that right then though. “who are you even going to find? do you know someone?” she looks at him incredulously, despite her attempt at making herself look half bit decent (as decent as she possibly could in the middle of the night because you never knew when someone might recognize her on the streets!) and pulling on her sneakers. “don’t tell me you’re just going to knock on some stranger’s door and ask him for help that way... that definitely isn’t going to work. if that’s what you have in mind, you’re going to have to come up with plan b!”

     maybe he knew someone. 

     wait-- he is kihyun after all, all-time game fanatic and it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise for him to get help... right? how different was video games and computers anyway? .... okay, she really didn’t want to know the answer to that-- some things were best left unknown anyway. whatever it was, it didn’t seem like she had much of a choice and shuffling towards the door, she holds it open before cocking her head out. “we’re going to have to hurry. do you have a place in mind to head to? please at least tell me you have a clue what you’re doing though because otherwise, i’ll just roll into a ball and contemplate on dropping out of school entirely. ... i’m serious!” no, she was not, but for dramatics’ sake.

         piercing, pulsing, pulsating? he wasn’t really sure which. the abilities no the transformations the female body could undergo in times of stress were not a force to trifle with. granted kihyun didn’t willingly stumble into this territory but how quickly she could transform from a dove to a vulture, picking at him like the small carcass he appeared to be. it was true for the most part, he wasn’t moving aside from small recoils from her attacks and little murmurs to show he was actually alive. it was as if his body screamed don’t tear me apart I still have work to do! if he could find that work, or that escape from her wrath it’d be a good day. three pillow attacks later and he wants to bury himself and his head into the couch and never arise, he wants to lay still and let the onslaught continue until she finds herself too worn out to finish, until he awakens from a dream with a new perspective on andie.

        it doesn’t happen of course and when he comes to she’s somewhere between wrath and broken pride, envy wants to strangle sloth and well all kihyun feels is apathy for it all. he’s not too tired to care rather he’s too tired to understand what he’s caring about. he can feel the laptop though, and he picks up something he understands. “I can…….try to restore it……..”

        “normally it would cost a fee….” he’s just waking up but he retracts the conditions back as soon as they threaten to leave his lips. it’s far too early to induce even more anger out of her and where did she get this energy from anyway? “just…..stop hitting me what are you trying to ruin your only chance of getting this done hold on.” it’s not the waking up that’s the problem, it’s more so the assembling of his mind. the only other person on the history of their campus who has ever seen kihyun this quiet is his roommate.

     his reactions, or the lack thereof of it, definitely caused her some worry. gone was the loud and confident friend and in its place sat a quiet male (who’d been quiet for a little too long now, considering this on a scale of one to regular kihyun) who looked as if the blank document on the laptop screen might eat him up alive. well. the possibility wasn’t too far from that, since andie might take the reins and continue with how she was hitting him; but for the sake of her document’s (hopeful) recovery, she was going to have to restrain herself. “try to? you have to! how else am i going to find more time to finish this off? it’s already..” she shoots a quick glance in the direction of the wall clock and the sinking feeling in her stomach sunk even deeper at her newfound knowledge of just how late it’d already been. “three thirty! three thirty in the morning! my mind’s going to do a mental shutdown soon and i seriously doubt i’d be able to type something good enough for a mere pass for class....”

     and as soon as the anger had caused her to lose all sense of composure, she could now feel despair washing over her like waves. despair, anxiety, worry and everything in between. tugging at the ends of her hair before she starts messing it up with a frustrated scream, she finally settles down-- with messed up hair and her eyebrows knitted together tightly.

     “i’m not going to hit you anymore so just.. fix this.” her voice sounds a lot calmer by then, and she was no longer hopping around mad. she was now starting to feel the aftereffects of her sudden burst of energy from before and with quiet nods, she simply cocks her head towards the screen, as if gesturing for him to work his magic. between the two of them, kihyun had the higher chance of solving the problem considering just how bad she was with electronics. and maybe, just maybe, he might be the one to save the day.

        her blows do not cease and her words do not falter. she’s truly a one-woman thrasher. he’d normally be trying to avoid the hits but his eyes haven’t registered what his brain already has and it’s all a flurry of emotions. confusion. anger. exhaustion. it’s just that it’s early….well late and her offer to stay over took a dark turn when his fingers found a laptop keyboard other than his. it wasn’t the sleep deprivation that’d done the damage. it was the dangerous separation from his own machine and a couple shots he’d taken before arriving to calm his mind that led to mistaking the machine for his. one thing led to another and he’s getting screams instead of the comforting opening of one of his online games. rather than responding startled and regretfully as is programmed into him he’s staring and barely uttering a response. he can make out the demands, he can make out that it’s nearing three am and he can make out that his head is literally pounding. her fists, his mind, a metronome of calamity.

        “wh……at—- do what——-” where had kihyun the computer genius actually gone? he’s still swimming through remnants of last night. h’ell make it, maybe after two unsuccessful hits to his side. “on a scale of——– one to beat kihyun to a pulp……..how important was it….?” he cares even if his expressions alludes otherwise. cue the next wave of hits.

     “how important was it?” her voice was just barely under a screech now-- the only thought of not wanting to wake just about everyone up in the building restraining her from going any further. .. whichi explained why, instead of continuously yelling at him to fix it up, she chooses to pick up a pillow from the couch nearby and starts whacking him with it time and time again. “it’s important enough that if i do not hand this up by eight a.m., i might get kicked out from school!” her movements did not cease until at least a minute later, when she was all tired and drained from using too much energy-- it wasn’t as if the anxiousness pumping through her veins hadn’t been enough at that time. but wait. considering just how much time kihyun spent on his computer (which wasn’t a good thing, per se, but it worked to her advantage in a situation like this), he should know a thing or two about recovering files, didn’t he? and since he was responsible for this dire scenario they were in now, he was her best hope.

     grabbing her laptop now and placing it in his lap, she shoots him a death glare before pointing towards the blank document page angrily. “figure something out! fix it! i don’t even know how you’re going to do it, but do something about it!” if she was going down, he was sure as hell going to come with.
