Mick Jagger with Diana Ross and former girlfriend Jerry Hall
Sometimes, I will listen to Charlie´s rolling drums and think: That is one hell of a drummer.
I will listen to lyrics like “Star crossed in the pleasure, the stream flows on by” and think: This is some great poetry. Or: “It´s only Rock´n´Roll but I like it” and nothing could be more true.
I will hear Keith´s downright dirty, perfectly timed guitar and think: I live for this kind of music.
I will see Mick perform Midnight Rambler and play harmonica and think: This is a frontman.
I´ll listen to Ronnie´s impossible two-fingered guitar playing and be amazed by his skill.
I will feel sad, happy, elated, tired, depressed, horny, in love, angry, peaceful and free and will find a song that exactly matches the mood.
I will read stories about them and think: Oh my god, what a bunch of idiots.
I´ll listen how all the musicians, Wyman, Taylor, Steward, Hopkins and everyone else will perform the shit out of a song and think: Yes, that is a live band.
Ronnie and Keith´s weaving guitars. Charlie and Bill´s rhythm section. Mick and Keith´s blending voices.
I will think: This is the best songwriting team in history.
I´ll think: Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones.
