Kyouko was starting to think that this was all a bad idea. Emphasis and all. 

She bristled as she realized that she probably wasn't going to get a moment's peace if she continued to stay where all these people were. A sigh tumbled from her lips before she plugged her mouth with a giant bite from her apple. She had thought that people, crowds- none of it was any problem.

But there was just so damn many of them. You made the choice right? That means interacting, so stop whining about it. 

"Yeah, can I like, help you with somethin'?"

What do we have here?

A predatory grin slipped across her features when Kyouko realized who she was looking at. It took a moment to fit the pieces together, but she had made a point to be good at gathering intel. So it only took a few moments to place the form she'd seen in glances.

The bag of apples she'd been snacking on was placed beside the bench she stood to vacate, save for the one in her hand. Kyouko waited a few moments, watching and eating until she decided that enough time had passed.

"Yo, kid," she called, tossing her head to the side in the facsimile of a nod. "Aren't you that new tag-along?"

Kyouko’s eyebrows shot up, and her features dropped into a more incredulous expression. Her lips quirked upwards in a brittle show of amusement. Some people, she thought to herself once shock had melted into something a little drier. 

“Are you for real, kid?” She couldn’t help but ask, a note of bemused laughter coloring her tone. Kyouko finished her pocky stick in one go, and took a moment to pause and fish out another one from the package in her hand. 

“I suppose I’m supposed to say it’s nice ta meet’cha, yeah?” Another laugh escaped her lips as she affixed the girl with a teasing smirk.

The blonde jumped back, a bit surprised. She hadn’t been expecting such hostility from a person she’d just met and complemented. Perhaps she was having a bad day? or maybe the color of her own hair really bothered her? Nonetheless, she continued to smile warmly at the newcomer. 

“I suppose I’m supposed to say it’s nice ta meet’cha, yeah?” 

“Only if you really mean it.” She replied. It was true, Mugi firmly believed that honesty was the best policy. If in reality, the girl was not pleased to meet her, she shouldn’t lie about it. “My name is Tsumugi Kotobuki, by the way. And it certainly is a pleasure to meet you~” Mugi let out a small giggle. Catching sight of the little red box in the girl’s hand, her sapphire eyes lit up with excitement and she began digging through her bag. Mugi hardly went anywhere without snacks. Just in case her friends ever needed something sweet, she always wanted to be prepared. Once she found what she was looking for, she happily pulled out a little red box of her own. “Miss, I see you like these too, am I right?”

The girl's answer was surprising enough to cause Kyouko's eyelids to flutter wide and the pocky stick to wobble against her lip. Interesting. She blinked once, twice, and then let a wry chuckle tumble from her mouth. 

"Well how 'bout this," she replied nonchalantly, tipping her head back and grinning, "It's not necessarily not nice." That was about as honest as she could guess; it wasn't as if she had anything better to occupy her time with. And even if she wasn't one for hanging out or otherwise spending time with people, it was better than boredom.

She pursed her lips pensively as the girl dug through her bag, waiting until she came out with the same package that Kyouko was currently holding. The revelation made her laugh again, surprise and amusement coloring her tone. 

"Damn," she murmured, struck with the fact that she didn't quite know what to say. Far from annoying her, as she suspected it should, it was amusingly sincere enough to keep her from being able to brush the other girl off.

"Yeah, guess I do. Though to be fair I like everything." She shook her head and huffed a sigh. "And I'm not Miss anything- the name's Kyouko."

Kyouko's eyebrows shot up and her lips parted in a moment of surprise. She wasn't overly familiar with the other girl, but she'd be an idiot if she didn't recognize her. After all, she could certainly credit some of her being alive to recognizing the competition. 

Her eyes darkened slightly and her lips curled into a wolfish grin. She took a hearty bite from her bun, and waited a long moment to take in whatever information she could glean from a look; posture, stance, time it would take to grab her soul gem and transform if it came to that. 

Not that Kyouko was looking for a fight.

"Yo- Akemi, right?" She threw out, tilting her head.

Kyouko’s eyes tracked the movements of the newcomers, expression glazed with a wry indifference that held just the barest hint of exasperated amusement. She took a bite of the pocky stick she was currently working on, and waited a moment to gather what constituted the rest of her manners before addressing them.

“Yo. Did’ja want something?” The words were tempered with a sigh that negated any venom they might have had otherwise.

‘She’s still there..’

Sauntering by the same path three times, the former exorcist glimpsed over at the detached girl who appeared to be people-watching. His original objective was to find one of the vending machines outside of the school. However, after half an hour wasted wandering around in circles got him no where close to one. The only thing, or rather person he discovered was that one particular girl. Perhaps she was waiting on a friend or maybe people-watching was a hobby of hers. Shrugging inwardly, he wouldn’t question people’s hobbies— even if he didn’t really understand them. Unbeknownst to him, his legs began to advance forward, in the direction where the girl was currently perched at.

“Yo. Did’ja want something?”

Words bringing him back to reality, blinking unintelligibly upon noticing his distance between the unknown girl and himself, Allen stiffly shook his head. And because of this closeness, he was able to spot the box of pocky she was currently holding. Trying hard not to eye the box, even though he was losing the battle, the British teen managed to utter out his words. “Not really…. But, did I disrupt you from your hobby?”

If Kyouko hadn't picked up the skill of learning when she was being watched, however lightly, then she would have been dead long ago. It helped that there was nothing in particular that diverted her attention at the moment- nothing but the ebb and flow of the sparse groups of people that passed by. It wasn't as scintillating as spending the day at the arcade or other, less family-fun pursuits, but it was something to do. And it appeased the constant edge of vigilance that never dulled.

It didn't feel like he was approaching her- there wasn't much intention behind his steps and her hackles didn't rise defensively like they might have otherwise. She couldn't help the smirk that twitched her lips upwards at his expression; first a little startled, then a not-so-subtle glance at her snack.

"Well that's good," she quipped, "Because I don't have anything for ya." Kyouko shrugged easily at his question, finishing her pocky stick in one last swallow. "Can't really distract someone from eating, right?"

She fished another stick out and bit down, arching an eyebrow and only pausing for a moment before wordlessly offering the package. It's not like I can't get more.

People. A glimmer of distaste flashed across Kyouko's features, but it softened after a breath. Company brought more a vague claustrophobic itchiness than true dislike, and she allowed the moment of aggravation to fade away- replaced by a light, distantly dry amusement.

Man, there's all types out today.

She took a bite from her bun, savoring the taste before shooting a smirk. Her eyelids drooped to half-mast and a snort of laughter rumbled in her throat.

"Was there somethin' that you wanted?"

Mugi’s attention had been attracted by the female’s red tresses. It was such a nice color, and the sight of it left her in a daze. It almost reminded her of ribbons or like… blood. She hadn’t been fully aware that she had been following the stranger until the redhead had taken a notice to her. 

“Oh, hello!” Mugi smiled sweetly, after snapping herself back into reality. “Your hair is a lovely color.”
