the hug that comes after a rough day.

        The tension in the air is thick. No one likes to bicker, especially in the give circumstances. Yuri does his best to confront when able and isn’t ever too shy to hold back his tongue, but the prospect of disappointing someone and failing is something else entirely. His sore arm and cut knee doesn’t compare to the heaviness felt in his chest, nor the need to separate himself from everyone and anyone. He simply isn’t in the mood, and it’s quite obvious for anyone to notice that, for he makes it known. Still, even when siting by himself, his terrible mood lingers. There’s naught to do but leave himself to his own thoughts, his head spinning. Sure, his words are harsh — Yuri hasn’t ever been the kindest of people upfront, but even he has his doubts from time to time. He doesn’t will himself to apologize because he’s stubborn, but he feels the regret nonetheless. After sometime, he’s helped himself to a book, his leg resting on top of another stool, stretched out before him.

        Yes, he’s stubborn, but not stupid. It’s been several hours, give or take, before he hears the approach of footsteps,. He clicks his tongue and gives a prolonged, exaggerated sigh before even turning around to see who it is. “Not in the mood,” Yuri says dismissively, waving a hand in the air. It’s then that he spots Hapi. His hand lowers. “I don’t want to talk,” Yuri says, defeated. “Save the lecture. I’ll apologize to them later, whatever.” His last word comes meekly. Even he knows himself that he’s beginning to sound like a brat. There’s no excuse, only his pride, which feels anything but altogether. After another long moment, he can feel the hesitant arms of her encircling his chest from behind. It’s … odd. But Yuri feels better. Surprisingly. He sits for a moment to process her company before eventually reaching to hold onto her arms himself, his fingers digging into her fabric.

        Yes, he’s messed up. He’s aware, Hapi is aware. But he welcomes the hug nonetheless, allowing his gaze to lower, his sigh this time sounding more tired and heartfelt, a reflection that he cares, and that he is annoyed, but more-so at himself than anything else. “For you to see me acting like this… I’ve truly let down my guard, haven’t I?” There’s no use in lingering on with this bitterness towards himself. He’s sulked enough. By now, he’s got a pretty good grip on her, the hug welcomed and firm. “….Thanks, Hapi. I owe you an apology. Perhaps if you help me with this damn thing, I can make it up to you.” He gestures to his leg with a small smile, bordering the same usual smirk. “And don’t tell anyone, if you can. We can keep this between us.”
