     diosa runs a hand through her dark hair, dark gaze still glued to his back. a hum rises from the back of her throat, soft and smooth, a stone skip from soothing. she’s attempting to tune into whatever fm that she’s hijacking.  “    we’re always in business, baby.    “   her eyes drop to his fist, relish in his flinch. he doesn’t seem too psyched about her being here. it’s the small comforts that count, and if there were a comfort for diosa to have, she supposes it would be the weight of her skin on her bones.

     idris turns around and diosa’s there to greet him, mouth still tipped in an amused smile, eyes glinting like pennies. she gestures her hands in front of her, palms up to show: see ? no funny business. no warp of her features, no forced revelation on her end. merely a tall woman in a pink cotton dress.

      “    was that so bad, honey ? you act like you were gonna see a fuckin’ ghost or some shit like that.    “

      his eyes flicker over her like a no vacancy sign. staring, at a tall woman in a pink cotton dress. humming back, something choked and off key. the shining theme, maybe. he has a sense of humor. sort of. sometimes. “too bad, i’m broke. a bad bet, debt and all. best not to invest.” so on the idris FM broadcast, does diosa hear yanny or laurel?

      her smile is reflected right back. eerily. like muscle memory. there’s a disconnect in idris. it’s obvious. even to him. see: him backing up a step. but: smile growing wider. it’s the micro expressions though. like the bead of sweat rolling down his forehead. or the vein static against his throat. he’s fragile. handle with caution.
