Charles Francis Annesley Voysey FRIBA RDI (28 May 1857 – 12 February 1941) was an English architect and furniture and textile designer.[3] Voysey's early work was as a designer of wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings in a Arts and Crafts style and he made important contribution to the Modern Style (British Art Nouveau style), and was recognized by the seminal The Studio magazine.[4] He is renowned as the architect of several country houses. This blog is to showcase sketchup models and 3d renders of sketchup models I’ve made of Voysey’s architecture. I’ve tried to model the buildings as originally built as opposed to the original plans (where available) or how they currently stand. This has involved no little detective work since the built structure often differed from the plans, Voysey even making changes during construction (e.g. Boradleys on Windermere), and buildings were often extended or modified in the years immediately following construction (e.g. Perrycroft in the Welsh Marches). Similarly, accurate scale plans are not available and most are not open to the public, so most dimensional details are best guesses. For these reasons my models do not claim to be 100% accurate, but I’ve done the best I can!
So far I’ve modelled The Homestead in Frinton-on-Sea, Tilehurst in Bushey, Littleholme in Kendall, The Studio at 14 South Parade Bedford Park, Boradleys on Windermere, Broadleys Gatehouse Lodge, Norney Grange, Norney Gatehouse Lodge. Norney Stables Cottage (not actually designed by Voysey, but attributed to one of his pupils), Perrycroft in the Welsh Marches, and the Perrycroft Coachman’s Cottage. Not all of these are completed or rendered, so I will be adding renders and screenshots of models over time, and of course as I continue to work on new models.
