As of version 1.05, Papyrus has an alternate pre-battle dialogue. If Papyrus has been spared before, he says the following dialogue the next time Frisk faces him in the neutral route.

This text is not exactly new. It existed in the original v1.0 of the game as unused text, but this was due to a coding issue.

Code excerpt from obj_papyrus8 (v1.0)

The code checked whether or not Papyrus has been previously spared. However, the dialogue would then be replaced with the original dialogue because global.msg[2] to global.msg[13] would be reassigned new strings. The lines “FEELINGS LIKE…” to “OF THE ROYAL GUARD!” have been moved into an else statement, which fixes the issue.
