he’s really only been looking for one other person since he’s arrived and it’s been difficult keeping track of this short-term goal when silas can barely maintain a grip on himself. the weird, tingly feeling in his bones—the insatiable desire to move—hasn’t faded, and as much as he’d like to be concerned, the tiny bubble of worry pops! into nothing the second silas spots the familiar face he’s been trying to comb out from a sea of unfamiliarity.
coordination is a bit of a lost cause, but one way or another, silas manages to weave through the crowd of equally inebriated strangers, tumbling into kay’s back a little less gracelessly than intended. it’s instinct how his arms coil around his friend’s waist without a second thought, and silas presses closer, hooking his chin over kay’s shoulder and pecking him on the cheek cheerfully.
“i’ve been looking for you!” he says in greeting, the smile on his lips unforgivably bright now that he’s settled comfortably into the company of the one person in hogwarts silas knows he could trust with his life. it’s too easy how his body relaxes, every tense muscle ebbing into something calmer. even the strange itch in his bones almost feels sated. his face feels hot and kay’s skin is cool to the touch, and for a second, silas forgets to speak. “oh no, i didn’t smudge your make-up, did i?”
he reaches out a hand to tentatively swipe at kay’s cheek, double-checking to make sure he hasn’t compromised a convincing zombie costume.
silas beams. “thank merlin you're here.”
