Don’t expect everyone to understand your journey, especially if they have never had to walk your path.

A Night in The Life of a Girl with Anxiety

-Gets off early from work and immediately takes a nap because communicating all day is exhausting

-Wakes up to a phone call from her boyfriend and realizes she can’t hide in her room for the rest of the night - she has a party to go to!

-Gets a wave of confidence because she gets all done up and think she looks pretty

-Goes out to dinner with her boyfriend before the party. Has feelings of excitement with a side of embarrassment because she loves Thai food but her boyfriend calls her out for not remembering his middle name. (How could she forget his middle name?!! We’re gonna blame this on one of anxiety’s best attributes, brain fog)

-Gets to the party downtown casually late, of course. Immediately heads to the bar to ease her anxiety of pending small talk. Downs a fancy lemon drop and mingles with acquaintances, so far so good!

-An hour goes by and she is officially socially exhausted. That was fun but it’s time for her to relax. Her hands claim up and the room suddenly feels 5 times smaller. She says goodbye to the party host and heads off, proud she went but now feels as if someone is pushing on her chest.

And that's just one night. This is what life is like a lot of the time for someone with anxiety. Sometimes, anxiety will win and she can’t get out of bed or go out that night... that’s understandable and totally ok. However, nights like last night are an accomplishment and should be celebrated. Even though anxiety affected her physically, she was able to overcome the symptoms and have fun!
