another night of dreary skies hung over his head like a warning. the grey clouds only split for the crimson skies to peak through, leaving the above painted like something out of a horror movie. it was the edge of dusk and the sun was settling away from the world, leaving the darkness to allow it’s tendrils to creep from the depths and devour the light.
far enough from the city, peter found himself here at cliff’s edge more often than not these days. legs dangling the side, watching the water sputter downwards into the cavernous maw of the lake below. sometimes he wondered just how deep the crystal blue lake was - from here, it seemed bottomless.
the buzzing of the city was little more than a droning hum this far out, it was peaceful in the weirdest of ways. to be alone was a place for comfort, which seemed painfully telling of his current state.
the sound of footsteps brought a furrow to his brow, head canting like a curious dog. people didn’t often wander out this far these days. wolves and all. ❝ strange to see someone else out here. ❞ he noted, glancing only over his shoulder for a moment before returning focus to the spitting waterfall ❝ not that i’m opposed to company. ❞
