When you’re about to hit and the boss shields
let’s say life is a journal, or a notebook. in it, you write a lot of things for yourself, but other people write things, too.
let’s say one of those people is abusive. let’s say that this person writes in pencil, and the pencil has a very bad eraser, the kind that’s all old and dried out.
when they write abusive things in your book, they come back later and try to erase them, but only end up leaving an illegible mess everywhere. you can’t make anything out at all, but you know the smudges hide bad things. you know they’ve damaged you in some way. you can see the pattern in your chapters, the evidence of horrible things within the pages of your past, but you can’t read them.
you know that each and every smudge is some example of abuse—some bruise, some piece of your heart removed and trampled on, some word that settles within you and becomes a quiet rattle in your lungs. but you cannot look at an individual smudge and know exactly what it is. you have no evidence, no recollection, and no instance-specific proof.
with nothing but hazy and illegible trails of things that have hurt you, you’re left without a foothold, without something concrete to point to and say, “yes, this was abuse. look what it says; look what happened.”
you start to doubt if it’s all actually bad. you start to question your memory, your ability to know for certain if the things the abuser has written are harmful. they’ve hurt you, yes, but when? how? why?
this is what gaslighting is like.
So… let me get right… You think you were abused but you were so awfully violated you can’t even remember the incident. Okaaay…. Riiight…
(Me thinks someone just wants to think of themself as a victim just because it’s “in” – and the social justice warriors are going to once again attack me and label me abusive for this bit of honesty, just watch.)
It’s not honesty coming from you. You have no idea who I am, no connection whatsoever to my life or what I’ve gone through. You have no right to tell me my reality isn’t real; that’s what I’ve been dealing with my entire life. Because of my mother’s emotional and verbal abuse, my dad is broken. He got the brunt of it. He’s still trying to work through all the damage. They’re divorced now. My brother has a lot of issues as well, especially with anger. Additionally, there’s a trail of broken relationships behind her, friendships and familial ties that have been severed. So yeah, my mom was abusive, and not just to me. It’s an established fact, and a ton of people in my life see it and know it.
I still deal with the consequences of her abuse every single day. I’m still trying to put the pieces of myself back together. After the fact, she would come to me and say things along the lines of, “you know this is your fault,” or “I was never abusive. You have an overactive imagination.” This has a really interesting effect on the mind: it erases the brain’s own credibility with itself and its memories. If you’re constantly told “this isn’t real” after shit happens, it only makes sense that the memory becomes fuzzy. So yeah, gaslighting is real, and it’s a tactic that many emotional/verbal abusers use, whether consciously or unconsciously.
So you do remember it, tho. So I rest my case, if you were abused, you remember it. Tho I take back what I said about the wanting to be a victim and apologize for that. Just when I read that it read like I was abused but I don’t remember it. That’s what I wasn’t buying. Thanks for clarifying.
I know I was abused. I cannot recall one specific example, or what happened. I can't remember what she specifically said any of those times.

Some people seem to be confused about Bernie Sanders and the label “democratic socialist.” Luckily for them, Sanders is going to explain the term and its principles in a big way.
He’s full of fucking shit, ok? And he’s buying votes. With promises he’s never going to be able to keep. If you fall for his Robinhood bullshit, you’re a fool and he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank. Or do you really think he’s going to share his half a mil with you:

What I find interesting is that his supporters seem to hate me for having a similar net worth.
This didn't end well last time. I'm not going to waste my time again arguing with some stranger on the internet. Your opinion won't change. Mine won't either.
(His net worth is the lowest of all the candidates, so...)
