Holy FUDGE it's been nearly a year since I last posted here. Hello all, I am alive and... not really well, but managing. I sadly don't have much more to say without dumping yall with private details, but aside from not posting for a year I also haven't been able to create anything in that time. And aren't sure as to when I'll resume.

Regardless, know I'm deeply grateful to all of you who, at some point or another, interacted with my work. Even if it was just leaving a like, I really do appreciate it.

I hope the next time I post here will be with more substantial news, but 'till then,

Marigolds confidants part 2, Wild Card edition! Big thanks to the Marigolds discord server for support and feedback. A special shout-out to DD360 for help with the character descriptions.

Pardon the radio silence! I was wrapping-up a semester of school and thus didn’t have the time or energy to draw or post.

Well, kinda. I still need to do some Life Stuffs and catch up on sleep (I vibe with Futaba in the sense that I also need to just pass out for a week after doing anything intensive lol). One of the things I wanna do is go back and make image ids for my art. From this point onward, I’ll be posting art with image ids as a part of the original post. For the old art however: do you folks have a preference as to whether I should edit the old posts or reblog them with an id?

I’m a bit miffed that Mona’s cat-form sprite wasn’t used more so I’m learning sprite editing to give our favourite little criminal not-a-cat the range of emotions he deserves. A work in progress. Surprise surprise, it’s more Marigolds fanart! It’s just so good, yall.

The confidant templates I got from here, made by yousachi on Reddit. They are absolutely fantastic. I actually have a lot more than just these three done but I keep nitpicking them and for some (Akira) I just don’t know what to write, lol.

Raise your sword, curse the world, and fight!” I’ve been absolutely in love with the fic Marigolds by colbub. So, here is my take on Morrigan, a new persona for Akechi from the fic. Morrigan already has a canon design in the SMT-verse….. but I really don’t like it :P If Loki got a redesign, why shouldn’t she?

I wanted to draw a design for Morrigan before I even knew she had a canon one. When I saw the canon design… well, my will was cemented lol. Her original design is just so boring. Green-skinned, skinny blonde lady with nonsense armour and wings. None of the sharp bite or stalwart presence she was described with in Marigolds.

She is a goddess of fate and war. She is drive and ambition made manifest and sharpened into a weapon. She had to look the part. Hence the heavy use of metal (pun unintended). I wanted a very black-knight look to match her sharpness and tie in with Akechi.

Since her design uses a lot of black, I used the texture/shape of the metal to give interest to her design. The lines are meant to reinforce the weapon theme and also gave the impression of muscle, bones, and feathers! For example: the chest area was styled after the serratus anterior muscles and how they connect with the ribs, the pauldrons and tassets are shaped like wings, and the gauntlets and sabatons like talons.

The fire hair is one of the first ideas that I had set in stone for her. In Marigolds, she is described to have “a flowing mane of golden hair that drapes in waves from her helmeted head down to her waist”. I imagined it to be constantly moving and flowing, with the gold to be more otherworldy than simply just blonde. Pretty quickly that turned into fire hair lol. It doesn’t drape down, but I feel it connects well to her position as a goddess of war and fate. Many myths attribute the origin of fire to divinity, and the imagery of war and fire are closely interconnected. Plus, the constantly shifting flames could allude to the constantly shifting nature of fate.

She ended up more Bloodborne than Persona, lol. I actually knew pretty early on that this wasn’t the version that I wanted. Why did I decide to do a digital painting of a design I wasn’t 100% on? Why not!

…Well, that and I’ve been working on Morrigan here for about… -checks watch- 5 months! Most of that was going through various concept designs. I honestly got a little tired of working on her lol, hence her underdeveloped wings and non-existent background. Maybe one day I’ll come back and revamp this drawing, or make a new one all together. I really want to make something that’s really worthy of the Morrigan in Marigolds. For now, I hope this will suffice.

In the meantime, go read Marigolds :P
