I want younger people to know that the brainrot resulting from the capitol hill riot is not new or unique. We are watching a real-time rediscovery of the patriotism formed after the twin tower incident. 

Liberals who presented themselves as anti-state railed against the worst president of all time. (Then: George Bush Jr.) However as soon as the event happened they became proud patriots demanding law and order.

This is how the Dept. of Homeland Security was formed in 2003. This is how the TSA started harassing every citizen passing through an American airport. This is how the patriot act happened. 

In 2021 it we won’t have the luxury of pretending this response is targeting a force outside the USA. It will be a response to an explicitly internal conflict, and fools will support increased surveillance on their neighbors at the cost of their own privacy. 

Inevitably the left will be blamed - because that’s what always happens. It’s already happening. Liberal media claims the rioters were Anarchists. Conservative media claims they were Anti-FA. 

Even right now in the immediate aftermath, the term “White Supremacy” comes off the lips of politicians and media outlets in a hesitant and forced voice. We will not see a continued emphasis on the right wing, we will see a shift to the more opened ended Political Extremism. 

Liberals who cheer on the state locking up their right wing political enemies will still be cheering on the state when the same fascist police forces crush left wing dissent.
