A brow furrows and it takes Daphne a moment to string together the other girl’s words because she may be closer, but the words are tweaked with an accent that makes them hard to read. “–No, I just..” She should have accepted the interpreter the university had offered her while on campus, but Daphne hates being that kid.  

She knows. Most Americans could barely understand some of what she was saying without at least a little clarification. (Hell, some people outside of the north of England struggled at times.) “’S’alright. He’s telling his friend he thinks you’re cute. All nice things, I promise. I’ll tell y’if they start slagging you off,” a smile - it’s a joke. Amy just prays that comes across.

Brendan: I know… it’s also full of kids though. The laughter, the smiles… the purpose to our lives, I guess.

She’s struggling to keep up, only catching every second word —if that. A curse leaves her lips in a hushed tone, brows knitting with her mix of frustration and irritation. “Um —Can you hear what he’s saying?” Yeah, they’re most definitely in hearing range, just not in lip-reading range, which is why Daphne’s struggling.

Amy can’t blame her for asking, struggling in conversations couldn’t be much fun. She gives a swift nod as she turns to face the girl. “Yeah - most of it. Th’ accent’s a bit weird.” A slight show of the pot calling the kettle black, considering the heavy Chester accent which ran through Amy’s own words. “Do you know him?”
