Silhouette research 👀
A sneak peek into some fashion illustration research. I came across this amazing illustrator that illustrated work for a collection of Sabyasachi, a well known Indian couture designer and i can see how illustration can story tell and add character to people and what they wear than anything. The art of story telling emerges from something like this and you get to be yourself or play a character as you wear something you usually dont wear. Fashion is often used as an emerging mechanism that people are able to story tell from.
Which one is your favorite model/character?
Some mix media sketching after a class from Anna Kipper. A lot of people dont know but i was at Barnes&Nobels in the art aisle going thorough some books and her illustration book and talking to my friend about cheap gifts cards in the next aisle, i had ZERO idea that months later i would be getting a design exploration class taught by her. I had an amazing day.❤️
A closer look to the template on paper drapes i made. I sued sequins, some chiffon, and cotton and black muslin. I also printed out some black and white versions of my prints that i made and incorporated them in all 3 designs. I also love different the skin shades i tried by using markers.
Can you find those designs and prints? Find the small hidden gems of the print. And What is your fav pose by the models?
This was my favorite day of all. Say hi to my sister, madeeha who “patiently” co-operated while i pinned drapes onto the body suit she was wearing. I really love how it turned out and not to mention it was done under an hour (should pat myself in the back). I can really feel my focus get tighter and my vision unfold better after these drapes.
Which one is your favorite?
Today we went through the process of making flats, which is more focused on the technical and productional side of the fashion industry. Apart from floats, which includes designs and prints, flats are just black and white and have separate design lines that indicate seams, hems and structure.
Here i took my oversized traditional shirt, known as a kurti, worn in India which is made out pure cotton to survive the heat (yes, polyester does trap heat and make you sweatier but pure cotton won’t). This piece was taken, captured, and traced to create a flat.
Have you ever created a flat?
Brainstroming some ideas for products to the corresponding collection.
Thoughts on gloves that mimic henna or glasses that have embroidered shades?
Would you dare to wear?
Every croquis is unique, I tried to stay away from casual wear or something you might see someone wearing usually. In the effort to create something real, something new, something authentic, always be true to your vision. 🌌✨
Which one do you find fascinating❓
Made a template, and traced some more postures for time constraints I couldn’t make all the croquis the first two from the left are made form scratch.
Look out for more designs 🙌✨

REFLECTION: Week 2 and good to go for the collection with more ideas and research freshly running through my head, getting much specific and clear with my concept and better with sketching. After all practice is the progress. ✨
A closer look of the design 😻👀
All done! 🪡✨
I’m so happy it turned out this well and it also matches the color palette that’s been decided

The fabric manipulation was Inspired by this, the color palette and design from the pictures i collected, im excited to work more and explore more with what i hold and can inspire others about as i build my mission statement or manifesto.
Fabric Manipulation used chiffon, Muslin (black and white), some wires, gold threads and embroidery 🧣👗👚
