WITS âMATRIXâ :
Wits has an interactive community built to not only fill your mind but your tummy. An idea of community which is not only ideological, but also within the practice of what seems to be a city with in city
A RARE IMAGE OF WITS STUDENTS CONQUERING THE EDGE
Over the years the University of the Witwatersrand became internationally recognized for academic excellence and extensive research activities. During the Second World War members of the University staff took an active part in the original development and construction of radar. Wits was the first South African university to have a nuclear accelerator, to have a computer, to study building materials and early Afrikaans, to produce a systematic climatological atlas of Southern Africa and to achieve a successful graft of plastic cornea.

SUCCESS FOR SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS:
In Apartheid South Africa, blacks, Indians and coloureds were previously disadvantaged from studying at prestige Universities. The Apartheid laws limited those with big dreams. It was difficult to study and work. Many studied via UNISA or colleges just after the Apartheid Era.
In the post-colonial era, thousands of South Africanâs have graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand as well as UCT, NWU and UP.
THE FIGHT WILL CHANGE BUT NEVER THE WILL TO CHANGE
A FIGHT FOR HUMANITY, FREE EDUCATION AND DECOLONIZATION:
Fees will fall but humanity stands strong. The fight to free decolonised education is both mental and physical, respect is always the first step
STUDENT PROTESTS: The #FeesMustFall movement and the aims to decolonize the University of the Witwatersrand as a whole.
The University of the Witwatersrand is a foundation for post-colonial engagement, a platform that provides diversity within the Global South and through the decolonization of the mind.
