when he hears the words, ushijima frowns. it takes a moment to register, as most usual slang or “memes” do with him, but he wonders to himself if he’s ever heard of “ beef balls ” before. there are, he thinks, a few similar terms that he remembers, but this one … he cocks his head slightly & thinks of a time when it could’ve been used.

he can’t. not that he’ll remember it later, anyways, but he is curious. maybe it’s ...

he stares. in a moment like this, isn’t that all that you can do ? as a high schooler ( who, admittedly looks like a full-grown adult ), he doesn’t typically involve himself in things like this. he has homework & volleyball practice to attend. & he thinks for a minute, eyes blank & seemingly focused on no where, tendou would be better at this.

ushijima is in tokyo frequently enough that one might think he knows his way around. typically, though, during the tournament he only ever stays around the area near the gym – there’s usually food for lunch, souvenirs, & whatnot. & during his lunch break, the media is very kind, & doesn’t try to question him at all ( it’s pointless anyways; he’s not a very good television personality ).

still, at this point he should know better, & have some sort of restaurant in mind for lunch. but his favorite closed down a few months ago, so he’s left staring at the map in front of the gym in dismay.
