30,000 year old flower revived.
Scientists have resurrected a flower from plant tissues found frozen in Siberian permafrost, thought to be 30,000-32,000 years old. The new Silene stenophylla is healthy and fertile, and producing viable seeds.
The experiment has excited many because it proves that material trapped in the permafrost is recoverable and usable - scientists have been working to recover other species of plant and animal life from the same area, such as the woolly mammoth.
We should ask it what cavemen were like.
So this is my sensory kit in its proto form. I chose a soft, fuzzy pencil case which cost me about a dollar. I had to make sure it had a pleasant texture on the outside, or, for me, all of the contents inside would be moot. Inside I have an olfactory object- some essential oil made of pine and balsam fir, called A Walk in the Woods. I love the forest and for me it’s an incredibly soothing stim to have that kind of sensory experience, so I will carry it with me wherever I go. I have a gustatory object- a teabag of my favourite tea. Something is very soothing about drinking English breakfast(well it’s my second favourite. Dimbula is my favourite but I didn’t have any). The rest of the objects are tactile stims- a wooden comb I brush my hair with, a beanbag I made of white turtle beans and a drawstring bag made of velvet, and some lipchap. One of my hugest stims is applying obscene amounts of lipchap- but it has to be burt’s bees regular peppermint. I can’t do petroleum products.
As to the olfactory oil. I just found this and it's incredibly delightful and so topical.
In Japan, a forest bathing trip, called Shinrin-yoku in Japanese, Sanlimyok in Korean, is a short, leisurely visit to a forest and is regarded as being similar to natural aromatherapy.[1]
[edit]History
A forest bathing trip involves visiting a forest for relaxation and recreation while breathing in volatile substances, called phytoncides(wood essential oils), which are antimicrobial volatile organic compounds derived from trees, such as a-pinene and limonene. Incorporating forest bathing trips into a good lifestyle was first proposed in 1982 by the Forest Agency of Japan. It has now become a recognized relaxation and/or stress management activity in Japan.
I got both colours because I couldn’t decide! (ó㉨ò)

Bed is too small for my tiredness; Give me a hillside with trees. Tuck a cloud up under my chin. Lord, blow the moon out, please! Rock me to sleep in a cradle of dreams; So that I may slumber in peace. Tuck a cloud up under my chin. Lord, blow the moon out, please! Bed is too small for my tiredness; Give me a hillside with trees. Tuck a cloud up under my chin. Lord, blow the moon out, please!
My socks are awesome btdubs. My best friend gave them to me for my birthday.
