My alone feels so good. I’ll only have you if you’re sweeter than my solitude.

Immaculate Moments
As I completed the final hill, the one always apparent, yet beckoning me not, a creature image of death appeared. Rolling toward it, I jumped out of its direction, reactively wondering if it still had life and to my astonishment it lifted off of the pavement, flying at my side, at my speed, in that surreal, satori motion when everything slows and joy erupts out of each pore.
I knew today felt like a good day to skate.

The powers of prayer contains many layers. From a subconscious level, prayer is repetition, they could also be seen as affirmations. When said silently or verbally, with intention, we can prime our unconscious minds to direct our behavior toward an honest goal. From an energetic level, if we see thought as energy beaming out into the universe, this language is a signal to be picked up from spirits all around us who are working diligently to answer our “prayers”. Prayers become effective when they come from an unselfish attitude. Prayer is also meditation, a mantra, if we repeat any phrase with intent, we may eventually reach a meditative, theta state, a state of conscious relaxation, healing, and presence.

This is too poignant towards my life now.
I told Miyazaki I love the “gratuitous motion” in his films; instead of every movement being dictated by the story, sometimes people will just sit for a moment, or they will sigh, or look in a running stream, or do something extra, not to advance the story but only to give the sense of time and place and who they are. "We have a word for that in Japanese," he said. "It’s called ma. Emptiness. It’s there intentionally.” Is that like the “pillow words” that separate phrases in Japanese poetry? "I don’t think it’s like the pillow word." He clapped his hands three or four times. "The time in between my clapping is ma. If you just have non-stop action with no breathing space at all, it’s just busyness. But if you take a moment, then the tension building in the film can grow into a wider dimension. If you just have constant tension at 80 degrees all the time you just get numb.

Michael Grab has mastered the art of stone balancing. He explains how he does it. “The most fundamental element of balancing in a physical sense is finding some kind of “tripod” for the rock to stand on. Every rock is covered in a variety of tiny to large indentations that can act as a tripod for the rock to stand upright, or in most orientations you can think of with other rocks. By paying close attention to the feeling of the rocks, you will start to feel even the smallest clicks as the notches of the rocks in contact are moving over one another. In the finer point balances, these clicks can be felt on a scale smaller than millimeters. Some point balances will give the illusion of weightlessness as the rocks look to be barely touching. Parallel to the physical element of finding tripods, the most fundamental non-physical element is harder to explain through words. In a nutshell, I am referring to meditation, or finding a zero point or silence within yourself. Some balances can apply significant pressure on your mind and your patience. The challenge is overcoming any doubt that may arise.”

"You can always see a face in the fire. The laborer, looking into it at evening, purifies his thoughts of the dross and earthiness which they have accumulated during the day."
Henry David Thoreau
somethin' special about all this...
If a man does something for an object, he does not wish the thing that he does, but the thing for which he does it.
Socrates via Plato's Gorgias, section 467d.
Trust yourself. At the root, at the core, there is pure sanity, pure openness. Don’t trust what you have been taught, what you think, what you believe, what you hope. Deeper than that, trust the silence of your being.
