Generation of ideas

When the group discusses what we wanted to do for our animation, at first we wanted to have it so children who do not fit society norm overcoming the bullying and loving themselves. However, we knew that in order for it to appeal to our target audience, we had to make it more fun.

From there, we keep the idea of having our main characters who do not fit society views and have it so they can filter between two worlds. One that doesn't accept them for who they are and a world where everyone who doesn't fit society views and everyone is accepting.

Main characters-

Arabella Winslow:

Arabella is a 10 years old girl who lives in normal city. She has to deal with being fat giving her living arrangement. Since her parent are divorce, she receive healthy meals from her father but when she is with her mother, who isn't home enough to cook her food, she is them eating fast food or microwave meals. Because of Arabelle (Belle for short) is fat, a lot of her peer judge her and ostracize her from society.

Felix Munson-

Felix Munson, who is 10 years old, also live in Nor-mal city. When he was 4 years old, Felix was a victim in a car crash where he lost his left arm. He now has to use a prosthetic, because of his disability, people find that he is incapable of do anything.

Maeva Martinez-

Maeva Matinez is also 10 year old girl who moved from France to Nor-mal city when she was 8 years old. When she moved, people didn't want to be associated with her since she couldn't speak English very well. Maeva had a hard time making friends, however, Felix and Arabella accepted her and help her fit in a little bit more.

Mayor Ronald Malus:

Ronald is a strict Mayor who runs Nor-Mal City. He also people to be ostracized because he was the one to start it to begin with. If he he dislikes you, he would make sure that everyone else would as well. He likes to control and manipulate people and punish anyone he please.

Mayor Honey Monroe:

Honey Monroe is the mayor of Eccentric Island. This is a place where everyone who doesn't fit Nor-mal City views escape to and to be accepted. However, anyone who goes to Eccentric island also has to go back to Nor-mal city so that the safe place isn't discovered. In Nor-Mal City, Honey is know as Kevin who teacher the 3 children class. They are both compassionate and love helping people.

Some of the technical difficulties of do this is that we are doing this by hand. When it comes to editing, mean are pictures will have to be clear so that the final production will look good.

Audience:

Definition-  ‘The assembled spectators or listeners at a public event such as a play, film, concert, or meeting.’

Our target audience are children between the age 10-16.

We believe this age range is suitable for our animation as we are originally targeting toward the younger side but it is know that older children and adults also have started watching cartoons again. A cartoon that is popular with older children and adults are Stevens universe and adventure time.

In a gloomy world called Nor-mal City Where the mayor is scary and the people are gritty Lived 3 bestfriends named belle, felix, maeva who were never really accepted for who they are.

One day the gang were trecking through the woods And came across something they never though they would.

They woke up in an unusual place Where the sun was shining and everyone felt safe A glamorous women welcome them And the gang never felt so accepted until the came.

Production schedule. It is important for any production to have a schedule so that week can meet each deadline on time and for things to run smoothly for us. It allows people to know what their deadlines are and what they are suppose to do.

Some of them arent final as i was practicing the angels of each characters and what the would look like. I drew Felix arm in different position so i could so what poses i wantef hom to stand in for the final animation.

Storyboard. This shows the basic of what will be happening in our animation. The storyboard shows the differents between Nor-Mal City and Eccentric Island. We want to capture the characters in both places and how they feels in each place. Its important to have a storyboard in your production as it helps when it comes to doing the actual animations.

Animation

Format-

In our group, our original idea was to use buzz/boiling animation, however, when it came to doing sketches of our characters, we realize how time consuming it was and switch to stop motion.

What is stop motion animation?

Stop motion animation is where each animation is captured by a series of frames with the object move slightly in between frames. When you play the series of frames together, it give the illusion of movement.

Examples of stop motion production are Wallace and Gromit, Coraline and Frankenweenie.
