Burj Khalifa Dubai

I was in Dubai for probably a total of twelve hours in the middle of the night during a layover in 2017. We paid like $13 to take a tour and stop at a ton of cool places, kind of a flash tour of the city. Here is a picture of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, from the perspective I got to see it from at 2am.

I went to San Francisco for the first time during the summer after my freshman year of University and visited again with my best friend during spring break of my senior year. Kind of a full circle moment. Same place, but definitely not the same person anymore.

This has to be one of my all time favorite adventures to date. This place taught me that I could be on the complete opposite side of the world from the place I call home and feel just as at home as I’ve ever felt. 

I’ve hiked in many beautiful places, and this hike is definitely near the top of the list of favorites. It wasn’t necessarily difficult, but coming down in complete darkness was a challenge I enjoyed. The mountain and ocean views reminded me so much of home. The full moon and city lights after dark left me breathless.

Weekend getaways trying to go back in time. Sometimes it works, but most times it doesn’t. This one didn’t take us back in time, but we got some really great food and I'm never one to be disappointed with a view of the ocean and a nice sunset.
