The Prodigal Returns!
After escaping much drama and putting it all behind me, I’m finally back to FFXIV! I missed this game so much Y~Y So right now I’m looking for some RP FCs on Mateus for my two gals.
Wandering Shrike, former member of the Immortal Flames, discharged due to an injury that left her scarred and disfigured. More of a mercenary type, “any job for money” kinda gal. Also enjoys playing the lute and singing and dancing, and will do non-naughty entertainment for money too.
Havana U’nana, “runaway” Garlean scientist who wants to rebuild her life while hiding her past. More bookish than fighting, she isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty with dark magicks. Currently a black mage working as a mortician, she loves getting into messes and causing them. (Also def willing to join any Garlean based FC so long as she isn’t killed for trying to leave Garlemald, or trying to run away from assassins trying to hunt her down!)
Please help spread the word so I can find a good home for these two!
American Girl stories were the best tbh

Don’t you dare disrespect Addy, or any of my girls for that matter. American Girl used to be legit. Good stories, good dolls, good movies.
Felicity’s story was set in the beginnings of the American Revolution, and addressed the conflict that she faced when her loved ones were split between patriots and loyalists. It also covered the effects of animal abuse, and forgiving those who are unforgivable.
Samantha’s stories centered around the growth of industrial America, women’s suffrage, child abuse, and corruption in places of power. Also, it emphasises how dramatically adoption into a caring family can turn a life around.
Kit’s story is one of my favorites. Her family is hit hard by the Great Depression, and they begin taking in boarders and raise chickens to help make ends meet. Her books include themes of poverty, police brutality, homelessness, prejudice, and the importance of unity in difficult times.
Molly’s father, a doctor, is drafted during the Second World War. Throughout her story, friends of hers suffer the loss of their husbands, sons, and brothers overseas. Her mother leaves the traditional housewife position and works full-time to help with the war effort. They also take in an English refugee child, who learns to open up after a life of traumatic experience.
American Girl stories have always featured the very harsh realities of America through the years. But they’re always presented honestly, yet in ways that kids can understand. They just go to show that you don’t have to live in a perfect time to be a real American girl.

FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge SEPTEMBER 1st - 30th, 2019
Welcome to YEAR 3 of our annual FFxiv 30 Day Writing Challenge, folks!
In 2017 we saw 2,451 written pieces ranging from three-lined haikus to multi-paged stories. 2018 ramped up even more with 3,641 written pieces!Â
We are a merry band of prolific writers, FFxiv RP community, and I couldn’t be prouder of our willingness to challenge ourselves creatively, using our RP craft as inspiration. Let’s see how we do in 2019!
Here’s the gist:
Runs from September 1st - 30th, 2019. During that timeframe:
Visit @sea-wolf-coast-to-coast​ once a day at 12:00pm (noon) PST for the prompt of the day. All prompts will be one word or brief phrase that you can interpret however you please.
You have 24 hours to write something for that prompt.
Tag @sea-wolf-coast-to-coast​ in your post, and use the hashtag #FFxivWrite2019.
There are no length or skill requirements (short & sweet is fine!).
There will be no 24-hour deadlines for the first week, September 1st - 7th.
Makeup/extra credit days every Sunday.
Every entry posted within its 24-hour deadline will count toward a participation prize raffle at the end.
You can join any time - late entries are welcome! They simply won’t count toward participation prizes - unless submitted on a makeup day.

Pixie Naming Conventions
Runes together also have different meanings. For example:
Feo means a treasure, while Ul means moon. Therefore Feo Ul should mean “a treasure beneath the moon”.
Bonus:
Tyr is the Norse god of justice, he is also a warrior (as most Norse gods are). So Sigun (light) Tyr (warrior), or the Warrior of Light, and Ul (darkness) Tyr (warrior), or the Warrior of Darkness.
A Treatise on Runes is one of the books from the sidequest Bewitched Books and the rest are from another sidequest called What’s in a Name. Both are in Il Mheg!

Emet-Selch is a Hot Topic
I was going to post this as a reply to another post I saw on my dash, but I know that my words can come off as aggressive, so I’ma make this a standalone post so as to not make anyone feel personally attacked. However, I enjoy lively conversation and discussion, so if one feels so inclined, feel free to add your contrary opinion for me to read/ruminate/respond.

Emet-Selch does not have empathy, trust, or affection for you. My dude literally tells you that you are not a person; if anything this man pities and is frustrated by your existence as you are a shade, and all of existence is a constant, painful reminder and perversion of what used to be and what he has lost. He loves, misses, and longs for his family, his friends, his loves, and his world. You are none of those things as you are. And only in your death, in everyone’s death, is it hinted that you could potentially return to being one of those things.
He also says that the only reason he doesn’t attempt to kill you outright in the beginning, is because he he has seen how Lahabrea and the other Ascians have attempted this in the past and failed. Thus, he is experimenting with a different approach(”helping you out"), as he figures that you will absorb all the light from the Light Wardens and become one unstoppable one yourself, thus finishing his original plan of flooding the First with light, killing everyone including you, and ushering in the catastrophe in the Source towards the goal of the Rejoining.
He doesn’t follow you around because he believes in you, he doesn’t tell you things because he empathizes with you. He follows you around because he is expecting you to, like the Warriors of Darkness before you, go about slaying things, only for the result to not be what you expect, you to die, and for his plan to come to fruition. He tells you things about the past, about his home, because he figures your journey doomed from the start, and with him being immortal, what harm is it in telling this desperate, fleeting, and annoying curiosity about what used to be? Especially since you seem so adamant in misunderstanding the point of him and the other Ascians, calling them evil when from his perspective he is anything but. Also to potentially lessen the feeling of despair you will experience when you fail and everyone you know and loves dies as a result, because from his perspective, something immeasurably better and more worthwhile will come for him to experience. It is both patronizing and wholly selfish, despite how it might appear as caring initially.
Throughout the entire expansion he constantly tells you that your actions do not matter, even though from your perspective, you’re saving the day, because from his perspective, you’re turning yourself into The Ultimate Light Warden and solidifying your own destruction anyway.
It is not that Emet-Selch in and of himself is unsympathetic, or lacks various emotions. He is sympathetic because he has experienced such devastating loss, despite doing everything in his power to prevent it all from happening(same as the WoD). He is sympathetic in his tenacity, whether borne from tempering or not, or some combination of both that and his own will, to undo something he views as unimaginable tragedy and save his world(same as the WoL). He’s sympathetic because a lot of people can relate to the desire of loving something, someone so much that you would do all within your power to ensure their restitution or protection(presumably the same as the player).
The issue that a lot of people bring up as being warped/glossed over/unacknowledged after reading fan literature and seeing fan art is that these sympathetic qualities that warm you to him are not reciprocated in canon. He lacks these warm emotions towards you. Towards anyone who is alive on any of the shards today. Thus, there are various people who see these romantic headcanons/arts/stories(which you should all keep making if it pleases you), and say as is their right, “wait, that’s not really how he’s presented…”
