Â
Story board

Users can use this App at home, at office or when they shopping, which means this App may help users to compare and buy products anywhere and anytime. This page is this APPs main page. In this page have three parts, which are search section, main products and many supermarketsâ logo. These are customersâ familiar brand of the supermarkets. These logos are represents prestige and quality, so in this App users can rest assured to choice products. Method 2 2D barcode search
When users go shopping, they may to use this compare price's APPs to find same product's cheapest price in these supermarkets. There are three steps may finish this process. Firstly, users download this APPs from APP store or online, and then, install to your mobile phone. When we go to supermarket we may using this APP's scanning function to scanning productsâ 2D barcode or barcode to get this productâs information, it is very easy to control, and very convenient for customers using.
Method 3 Chatterbox search
This is new technology for users to compare price, which means when users shopping in the supermarkets, users may through this device to get each products' information. Chatterbox itself is a source of information, in supermarket merchants may install this device in each type of products. When users choice this method to compare price, they only need to close to these product, and then, choice this device, this APPs may automatic search for product information, and put this type of products' information display on users mobile phone. This device may help users quickly master this type of products' discount information.

Second supermarket is Coles, it 30% discount and also can display how much can save. In this page, if some supermarkets do not have this product, in buy button will be displayed as gray.
Technology research barcode and 2-2D barcodes
Barcode has been serviced our life for many years. From buying groceries to tracking a UPS delivery, barcodes make our lives easier. However, these technologies although have been doing for decades, but it is still to use. Originally patented in the 1940s, barcodes were commercially tested in the 1960s and gradually became ubiquitous in the 1980s. The basic idea has barely changed in all that time: just like in the 1960s, a barcode is still a zebra pattern of stripes with numbers written underneath that needs a special scanning device to decode it. But all that could change soon as the 2D barcodeâa kind of second-generation barcode technology takes over.
What are the advantages of 2D barcodes?
Barcode only can storage some basis information. A barcode is just a short line of black and white bars. Meanwhile, you cannot add some extra information into barcode, because, barcode without making it longer and more unwieldy bar to store information. By contrast, a 2D barcode is a square of information running in two directions so it can efficiently pack more information into the same space. A typical 2D barcode can represent up to about 2000 characters of information.
However, the higher capacity of 2D barcodes means they can hold the same information in different ways. meanwhile in this technology have built-in error checking systems, which means, If a code is damaged, it can  easy to detect and avoid errors appear, at same time, 2D barcodes is Easier to read, which means it can be read by mobile phones through using their built-in digital cameras. No need to use some special reading equipment. Even though they contain more information, they can be read accurately. Through this method can through 2D barcode easy to get some important products' information, and this technology is Easy to transmit which means 2D barcodes can be sent as SMS text messages between cellphones. in the end, this technology is More secure, merchants can  encrypt the information in 2D barcodes to protect products' information is not divulge.
Merchants can put 2D barcode on products, and use it in very similar ways for tracking and tracing all kinds of objects. Customers can use their mobile phones with built-in 2D barcode readers to get some useful information when they are searching products. Meanwhile achieve some basic activity, may leading them continue to use this applications. Some Advertisers who want you to find out more about their products online information, they only simply to print a 2D barcode and put it into their products. Customers just need point your mobile phone at the code, scan it in, and then, your mobile phone browser will automatically read the code, decode the Web address of the advertiser's site, no need to type some tedious website address or anything like that to search products' information. This method is especially convenient for merchants to release new product advertising, and this technology can add in billboards, posters, and product themselves.
This method also can using in Transport, it is another increasingly popular application. Numerous airline, railroad and bus companies let you buy travel tickets online in advance and store them on your cellphone. Your phone displays the details on its screen as a 2D barcode code, which becomes your electronic ticket, when users traveling, all the personal information can be stored in this 2D barcode, it is very safe, convenient and save trouble's technology. this technology also can using in supermarkets, when users shopping in supermarket, they can using their mobile phone to scanning 2D barcode to get this products' information, and merchants also can put 2D barcode into their brochure, at same time, can put some discount and new products' information through this form convenient for customers to search.
 Project concepts and objectives
There are many supermarkets' APPs service for customers, For instance, Coles APPs, Aldi APPs and Woolworths APPs. Meanwhile, these APPs can be used on mobile phone, because our mobile will accompany our 24 hours, which means these useful APPs are also service for users 24hours. Therefore, your clients are interested in your business, create a mobile app is the best way to keep in touch with them and increase your sales. Now, online shops and e-commerce sites can build their own customized mobile application thanks to apps.
In this application, I will combine the analysis of the four case studies strengthsïŒand add them to the new application.
Firstly, I want to add compare price system, which means there are several companies to compare products price, such as, Coles ALDI and Woolworths, if users shopping online or shopping in supermarkets, they only input some product's name, and then, this APP can search out which supermarket is the cheapest one. These company's products is not only confined to food, other types of products are all can using this technology to compare price. For instance, drugs, books or household appliances. Expand the scope of use is give users and merchants more space to convenient using this application.
Secondly, I want to add 2D barcode technology or Chatterbox system, which means these technologies, may help users to accurate get commodity information, such as, products ingredients, price and uses. This information is not only for customers to provide compare price's data, but also may help customers to compare with other products, such as quality and price. These technologies are not only easy to use, but also the obtained information will be very comprehensive. These methods may save users' time, and also have the function of the bidding and competing products. Meanwhile, users to search products' information, it may increasing interaction process between users and products.
Thirdly, from the aspects of design, I want to continue followed by my four case studies' design concept to design this new APP. in this new APP, i want to prominent the products' image information, price information and other bidding companies logo. These information are users the most attention to focus on, because famous companies' logo itself is credit and qualities' guarantee. Therefore, increase pictures' quality, prominent companies logo are all I need to do.

This is another technology can get productsâ information. An easy-to-understand explanation of 2D barcodes. How do they work and what are the advantages over ordinary barcodes?
This is a new kind of image search technology, this technology give me some new ideas, i want to research this technology and add it to my new APPs, it may help me to add new method toget productsâ information and compare price in my APPs.
Background Research:
In the past 10 years, if users want to buy the cheapest products, they need to check many websites, and then find out which one is the cheapest one. However, in nowadays it have a new method may help users to quickly through a program or software to complete this step, it is Comparison shopping engines (CSE's), it is a new word in nowadays. It is giving merchants the opportunity to attract new customers, increase sales, and go head-to-head against the competition's platform. It can promote sales, reasonable promote competition and side improve brand effect. This is an important guide that will explain which one is the cheapest or best product.Â
What are Comparison Shopping Engines?
Comparison shopping engines is collect many product information, pricing and retailers, and then integrated this information together to produce a network shopping platform, and then display that collective information on a single results page in response to a shopper's search query. In this way, shoppers can compare each retailer's price, shipping options, and service on a single page and choose the merchant that offers the best overall value. There are many compare price engines in our daily life. Â For instance, Google Shopping, Shopzilla website and Become website, these website have compare price engine, which means it may help users to check the cheapest products in the website.
Comparison shopping website, sometimes called a price comparison website, comparison shopping agent, or comparison shopping engine, is a vertical search engine that shoppers use to filter and compare products based on price, features, and other criteria. Most comparison shopping sites are aggregate product from many different retailers but do not directly sell products themselves. meanwhile, comparison shopping website  using in many industries, such as airlines, shopping online and tourism products website, but in supermarket APPs or website are only have their personal information do not have comparison shopping engine. Users only can by themselves to check each supermarkets' APPs to compare which one is cheapest, is very inconvenient.

Finding the cheapest products
Background:
There are many overseas students study in Australia every year. Meanwhile, overseas studentsâ living cost very high each month, they want to save money in daily spending, so they want to buy some cheaper products. Studentsâ learning pressure are also big, they do not have enough time to check which supermarketâs product is the cheapest. There are many supermarketsâ APPs online such as Coles APPs, Aldi APPs and Woolworths APPs. These service projects are including location service, shopping list, products information and on sale products information. Nevertheless, these APPâs functions also limited for users shopping and not enough convenient for customers using. For instance, many supermarkets have their own special products, but many customers want to through price check to find out which supermarket is the cheapest, their targets are save money and time, especially overseas students. How to help overseas student to find the cheapest product? Go to each supermarket? NO. Focus on discount information every day? NO.
Five Best Mobile Price Comparison Apps
If you're headed to your local big box store to shop for holiday gifts or anything else you need, don't leave your smartphone behindâwith the right apps, you can check the products you're looking at in the store to see if you're getting the best price there, whether you should head to the store next door, or wait until you get home to shop online. Here are five of the best mobile apps for comparing prices while you shop, based on your nominations.
Earlier in the week, we asked you which apps you turn to when you're shopping to make sure you're getting a good deal. You responded, and now we're back to take a look at the top five.
Amazon Price Check(iOS/Android)
Clearly one of your first stops if you want to know if a product is cheaper online than it is in your local store is Amazon. That's why the company built Amazon Price Check. Just scan an product's barcode, take a photo of it, speak the name of the product, or enter in its name to see if the same product is available at Amazon at the same or a better price. Amazon is obviously betting that you'll find a better price online and that you'll order right from your phone, but they're sweetening the pot with an extra 5% discount to people who use the app and then make a purchase. Amazon Price Check is US Only.
Google Shopper (iOS/Android)
Google Shopper is a mobile portal to all of Google's shopping options, including Google's local offers, daily deals, and more importantly, product search and comparison shopping via Google Shopping. Simple scan the barcode of a product, speak its name aloud, or even scan the covers of books, magazines, and other media to search Google's database for the product. If the same product is available at one of Google's partner retailers, you'll see how much it costs, along with ratings and reviews, specs, and more. The best part of Google Shopper is that it combines prices from local retailers with online prices to make sure you get the best deal.
ShopSavvy (iOS/Android/WP7)
Before Google and Amazon got really deep into the mobile price comparison game, ShopSavvy was making lists of must-install apps for any mobile OS. ShopSavvy is still a great tool, and allows you to scan the barcode of a product to search for it online, see prices at other brick-and-mortar and online retailers, and even load up your ShopSavvy "wallet" with cash so you can quickly purchase directly through the app. ShopSavvy even includes estimated shipping prices from the retailers listed so you can deal in final prices, not base prices. Finally, the ShopSavvy app gives you a window to a large community of people using the app, rating products and retailers, and letting you know whether the item you're thinking about buying is any good before you buy.
RedLaser (iOS/Android)
RedLaser started life as a simple app to help you scan barcodes, and evolved into a remarkably robust utility that does more than just Google search what it decodes. These days, RedLaser lets you scan barcodes quickly to compare prices in brick-and-mortar stores and online, and research products. RedLaser's product scanning doesn't just tell you if a brick-and-mortar store has the same product at a lower price, it tells you if that store is near you, how far away it is, and whether the item is in stock. If you're shopping for electronics and video games, scanning the product will get you ratings and reviews (even of the video games), and if you're scanning books, you can see if the book is in a nearby library.
PriceGrabber (iOS/Android)
PriceGrabber, one of the web's most trusted names in comparison shopping, also has one of the more essential mobile shopping apps available. PriceGrabber's focus is on online merchants instead of brick-and-mortar stores, but it can definitely tell you if a product is available online for less than you're ready to pay in your local department store. The service has millions of products in its database and thosuands of online retailes, so if your primary concern is whether or not you can get a better bargain online, it's worth installing.

How to get the most out of supermarkets for the least cash
One of the biggest costs any family has is food, and buying it isn't exactly optional. But good news, there has never been a better time to save money on your food shop. These are the things we do as a family to cut the cost of our supermarket shop. Follow them and save some cash too.Â
1. Planning the food shop
Step one, work out what you have already
Well before we even think about heading to the shop, we plan out our meals for the next week. It may sound a bit boring but, with preparation, I find that we spend less and only buy what we need.
Meal planning was a bit daunting the first few times. The more we did it though, the easier it became. The whole family has an input and we a get to choose meals we all enjoy.
Once we know what weâll be eating, I head to the cupboards and see what weâve actually got. Itâs amazing what can be found hiding in the back of the freezer, or behind a can of beans, and having a quick stock check means I donât buy more than I need and allow food to waste .
2. Online or in-store supermarket shop
Are you better off in front of your computer or a till?
I then decide whether weâre going to shop online or go to the supermarket.
It really depends on the time of day and what we are getting. If our list has lots of bulky items, weâll usually do an online shop as someone else can do the hard work and deliver it for us. However, we have quite a choice of supermarkets near us and we can get access to reduced items which you never get shopping online.
We also shop at different supermarkets for different things, which is harder to do when shopping online thanks to delivery costs. For instance, Tesco do the best value stock cubes, while Morrisons have the cheapest tortilla wraps and Lidl sell the best value nappies. But if you can be flexible like this and stop off when out shopping, it really pays dividends financially.
3. Look for offers and coupons
A few of the coupons we've collected
Weâre always on the lookout for coupons and money off vouchers and use them whenever weâre shopping. I sometimes feel bad for the person behind us when we have a wedge of them (especially when some of them donât work!) but itâs worth it when you see the total bill reduce with every coupon used.
On top of this, Iâm an avid collector of store reward cards and will make sure to collect the points after the shop. They really add up over the year!
Also, even after shopping, there are apps which can give you cashback like ClickSnap, Shopitize and CheckoutSmart. Just download the apps and upload photos of your receipts. Youâll be quidâs in!
4. Buy reduced items
Reduced items mean you can get more for less - all round win
If shopping in store I try to leave it till later in the day. There is more chance of finding reduced items at this time and, even if they are close to their sell by date, you can just put them in the freezer for later use.
Problem is, everyone else has cottoned on that they can get good deals so the competition is high. I donât always manage to find a bargain and would prefer to walk away with nothing than spend extra on things we donât need.
Also, I donât necessarily stick to the meal plan and adapt it as I go. If weâre meant to be having a chicken curry one night but I can pick up turkey in the reduced section then Iâll change the menu and make the saving.
5. Price per unit
Loose carrots aren't always cheaper
Price per unit is a real bug bear of mine and something I closely check for. The biggest supermarkets have made a promise to show the price per unit in a consistent way but it can still get a bit confusing, especially if itâs not something you look out for normally.
It can be a misconception that buying vegetables loose is cheaper and it can be â sometimes! However, on checking the price per unit of carrots in a supermarket just the other day it was cheaper to buy them in a pack.
The shops are always changing their pricing, packaging and promotions so I quite often change the brands I buy to get the best deal.
6. Brand down and dodge âdealsâ
I used to be a bit of a food snob and changing from well known brands to a more basic range made me question the quality.
Now I really donât care if the cheapest item goes in my basket; they taste just like the bigger brands and are a snip of the price. Weâve shaved tonnes off our food budget.
The offers and âdealsâ are always on the end of the isles and, although they look like a great saving, are frequently not cheaper than the storeâs own brand.
End of aisle promotions are frequently nothing like as good a deal as they seem
I feel that the supermarkets try to hide the cheaper products away, down an isle and usually at the very bottom of the shelf so youâll need to get on your knees to find the best savings.
7. Top up shops
More than a basket is too much
I usually try and get enough food to last us for about two weeks. However, as some food is perishable and we donât have the biggest freezer in the world, we do smaller top up shops to keep us going.
When I do a top up shop, I still make a list but will always use a basket. When the basket is full and itâs hard to carry, I know that I need to head to the checkout. Yes itâs easy to grab one of the smaller trolleys and start adding things in but, you could soon end up throwing loads of things in that you just donât need.

How to get the most out of supermarkets for the least cash
One of the biggest costs any familyhas is food, and buying it isn't exactly optional. But good news, there has never been a better time to save money on your food shop. These are the things we do as a family to cut the cost of our supermarket shop. Follow them and save some cash too.
