A MATTER OF STORYTELLING PERSPECTIVE
This weekendās episodes really got me hooked in this drama. Like most users in other sites like Reddit, Iām satisfied with how the plot finally built-up to this point. Normally, by episode 12-13 of a drama, Iād be losing interest already. But I have to give it to the team for planting all the seeds in the previous episodes. The plot is picking up, and although a lot of us have expected the reveals, HOW THEY REVEALED IT is rather interesting. I felt like this episode slapped me for being an ignorant viewer.Ā
Itās really difficult to judge the latest-released episode of Itās Okay to Not Be Okay because the show puts so many throwbacks and references to previous episodes and scenesālike a different perspective. For example, we had episode 9, 10, 11. The entire thing was a sequence which caused a change in viewer perception, from people dislikingĀ Sang-tae for lashing out at Kang-tae and being a baggage for Kang-tae to them appreciating him for finally stepping up and becoming an older brother. All these things happened in a span of three episodes, where theyāve also inserted a lot of events.Ā The writer tackles something in more than one episode, often extending to two weekends. For Moon-young, her story started in episode 11ās Park Ok-ran, and it would stretch on until episode 16. Itās just appropriate to highlight the root and cause of her behavior aka the people involved in her crappy childhood.
And I like that they will solve and reveal everything one at a time, without sacrificing the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and without disregarding the emotions each character will feel.
Another example is the entire sequence of Moon-young saving Kang-tae. It was introduced in episode 2, but was only clarified in episode 6. There was also the sequence of KT and his mom (from episode 4 to 7).Ā
Episodes 12, 13, 14 are all REALLY confusing because the story is building up. And we have these premises to consider:
1) It is possible that just like Kang-tae and Sang-tae, Moon-young doesnāt remember the exact details of her childhood, and
2) Ko Dae-hwan may be experiencing delusions at the memory he recalled, not to mention he was DRINKING. He could have been drunk when the entire sequence of events happened.Ā
3) And it is possible that the traumatic events experienced by Moon-young caused her to have a distorted memory of exactly what happened.Ā In this case, perhaps Dr Oh will sit down with KMY and help her recall her past, the way he did with Sang-tae.
4) KDH said Moon-young saw him kill her mom, but when MY was telling the story to KT, she never mentioned about her father killing her mother. Plus, in her sleep paralysis, she is always dreaming about a woman in the lake.
There are so many unanswered questions about Moon-youngās past, but Iām just going to trust the writer on this one. Episode 14 wrecked me so I donāt really want to think anymore. They were able to tackle a lot in a span of several episodes, including the backstory of several patients.Ā
Anyway, Iām sure the answer to the mystery is written in the final manuscript of her book. That, and hopefully with the interpretation of Dr. Oh about the recent turn of events (he looks like he really is trying to figure everything out), will clarify a lot of things in the last two episodes.
I think majority of us react like this because we are watching it while it airs. Those who will binge-watch this will definitely have another experience.Ā
Personally, I donāt find this dragging at all. This is the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT we wanted to see from a character-driven story. It culminates here because they need that to face and solve the mystery in the next two episodes. All the scenes are necessary in order to show WHY they will act a certain way in the last two episodes.
Iām glad that they saved the motherās reveal for last. As much as I want a happy and sensible ending for the three of them, I donāt think I would really enjoy it if the last two episodes of this drama are filled with fluff and a lot of emotional fluff. Kudos to the writer for INTERJECTING those heart-wrenching scenes at the appropriate moments while the plot is being unveiled. I prefer that the mystery and thrill extended to the latter part. As much as I like the domestication, having too much of it is also a bit⦠boring.Ā
There is definitely something more to this. NOW CANāT SATURDAY COME FASTER SO WE CAN GET ANSWERS?

YESSSS to go off of prev anon. I shit you not it ruined the make out scene for me because when she expressed valid anger at how he treated her on the beach he just ??? Started patronizing her with a way to ācalm downā and then KISSES HER?!!? NAH. & how heartbreaking when she was like ādid I do something wrong, am I not being considerate of you?ā And instead of rewarding all of her growth and restraint he just lashed out at her!!! Bruh this man is truly cancelled. Sang-the is the new lead.
HONESTLY, itās #gangtaeisoverparty hours here. Why did he think itās okay to ignore the fact that he straight up ripped her heart out and stepped on it on that beach? A kiss aināt an apology buddy, no matter HOW hot you are. Did he pause for a MINUTE to think that maybe she was still fragile from opening her heart to someone FINALLY, only to have that person reject her in a RIDICULOUSLY hurtful way?!
She was so worried that she had fucked up somehow, FINALLY letting her insecurities show through the cracks in her armor (note her change in dress around him btw? Sheās not in armor anymore. Sheās not hiding from him. Sheās not protecting herself!) and he just STABS HER IN THOSE WEAK SPOTS?! I get it, he has every reason to believe that her mother killed his.
IS SHE HER MOTHER?! Bitch, no!
Has she not VERY RECENTLY TOLD YOU SHES TERRIFIED OF HER MOTHER?! Bitch, yes?!
Why the FUCK is she the one bearing the brunt of EVERYONEāS WORST REACTIONS?! Literally EVERYONE?!
HOW IS GANG TAE THE ONLY CHARACTER KNOWN TO MAN WHO IS MORE LIKABLE WHEN EMOTIONALLY SUPPRESSED. PUT THE PIN BACK IN MAN PUT THE PIN BACK IN!!!!
Bro this shit got me heated tbh!!!!
Like, heās gonna go through all this growth and face his trauma but come out of it being a shit bf?! Like, MY aināt your punching bag, your sounding board, or your therapist. Yāall are supposed to be facing shit TOGETHER, not pitching a bitch fit and pushing away the people that love you when shit gets hard?!
Mun-Yeong seems to get that fact. Will Gang-Tae?!
He was an activist who inspired millions to fight for their rights. He knew what was wrong with our country and risked his life to help his people achieve equality. Ā In the society where black were treated like animal he did everything possible to change this. His brave soul, his will and courage changed the history of America , changed the people. He made us believe we can win this war. He payed for it with his life. He will always be remembered.
Respecting his memory also means acknowledging that his fight is far from over, black people are facing the same issues that ha birth to the Black Panthers, and that the FBI is basically trying to launch COINTELPRO 2.0 against BLM and other black activists. Hampton should be more than a history lesson, he should be a rallying point.
what do you want them to think of you?

Would also be really annoying if they wore heat resistant gloves to throw back the hot tear gas canisters and if this got shared to all those protestingā¦
Would be a further shame if people started covering cameras (as seen in Hong Kong, with protestors using poles and rakes to lift cardboard boxes over security cameras), blinding drone optics with laser pointers, and flooding police-run reporting apps with junk data.
It would be a shame if the protesters noted that plainclothes cops can be identified a number of ways, such as wearing steel-toed boots; an armband or wristband of a particular color; driving white, black, or dark blue cars with concealed lights; or having the outline of cuffs visible in the back pocket or the bumps of an armor vestās shoulder straps under their shirt.
It would be a shame if the protesters began making their signs out of inch-thick plywood to stop rubber bullets, forming a tight shield wall to prevent police from singling out and mobbing individual protesters. It would be a shame if the people behind the shield wall held up umbrellas so that tear gas canisters fired over the heads of the front line will be bounced away. It would be a shame if protesters began constructing improvised armor vests out of duct tape, hardback books, and ceramic tiles.
It would be a shame if protesters started wearing safety glasses, hard hats, respirators, and gardening gloves, all of which can be found at the same hardware stores as the plywood. It would be a shame if they started using traffic cones (the kind without the hole in the top) upside-down buckets, or other improvised lids to contain tear gas by placing them over the canisters.
It would be a shame if protesters learned that police scanners are legal to own in the US, allowing them to learn where police are moving and what routes they intend to take. It would be a shame if they discovered that these scanners can be used to send as well as receive, allowing them to flood the scanner frequencies with noise.
All this would be a terrible, terrible shame.
