I have so many bones to pick with It's Okay Not to be Okay (2020)... It's inability to grapple or even acknowledge systemic problems particularly plaguing the South Korean working class (esp single mothers and people with disabilities) from getting the help they need is one thing. It's utter fucking refusal to hold it's lead character accountable for her own abusive actions which makes her character arc so utterly unsatisfying to watch is another. With mental illness as a backdrop to top this off 😒 It's so apt that pple compare this kdrama to a Tim Burton film, becos like a Tim Burton film, it's aesthically pleasing but substantially hollow.
