actually let me compile my apollo headcanons + calypso information into one post. basic information for anyone just visiting (so anyone who isnt me and the like 6 friends ive been talking about this with extensively).
as a note, i use he/him for apollo as he exists in his current state in the game, and she/her for calypso once she comes out. it isnt interchangeable, just a chronological distinction. this is long so get ready.
first off, there are absolutely no hints for this anywhere in canon (for now...................valve could give me crumbs later but i wont hold my breath), this was just me going "hey wouldnt it be interesting if apollo was transfem and didnt know yet" and now here we are
what we DO know about apollo (or can infer):
apollo has been locked in on his training and education from a very young age, as early as 5 years old
he talks about his dad constantly but never his mom + has a line with vindicta where he says he has been personally impacted by political assassinations (my personal hc is that his mother was assassinated via poisoning but thats just me)
he has a line with dynamo where he says verbatim "prom doesn't further my goals" and he has several other lines where he expresses how much he hates other teenagers
his line where he accidentally invites viscous to a gala makes me think hes just kinda ass at social situations that arent high stakes political affairs
my personal assumptions:
apollo is autistic big time
apollo gets bullied at school (and might not even realize it)
apollo has been nonstop shouldering the expectations of his father since the minute his mother died and he has never had a minute of Not thinking about the very specific vision for his future that his father has laid out for him
apollo has never, and i do mean never, had any romantic experience in his entire life. not even held hands. he doesnt know shit about relationships.
further extrapolating from that (especially the final bullet), i think apollo would see romantic relationships as being too risky/too much of a distraction that might jeopardize his future, so he 'chooses' not to care about them. so he also doesnt know hes bisexual yet (not even a term people use for sexuality in 1949 so hes just Gay Sometimes).
in order for apollos egg to crack a few very important things need to happen. the first is that he NEEDS to be bored. no school, no ritual, no training. if he is alone with his thoughts for too long the tv will start glowing. as it is right now i think hes so uninformed about sexuality and gender stuff that he might not even know being a girl is even an option but that egg is held together with duct tape and prayer.
i also think apollo needs to confront the fact that the person he has been slowly molded into is a persona and not really him. yes, he is being forged in the image of someone he does genuinely love and trust, but the fact that he loves and trusts his father means that he cant find any resistance in his brain for the fact that he has been Performing being a person for ~13 years and not actually. you know. being one. so i think a situation where he realizes 'oh this isn't fun anymore' is crucial.
he also needs to make friends so bad like oh my fucking god he has NO friends! i scratch my head at the interpretation that other students at blackmore like him/that hes popular because i really, truly dont think thats the case! i think apollo is an antisocial nerd who spends all of his free time studying and training. i dont even think he has a roommate.
but all of this is fixable and that leaves us with
stuff about calypso:
she researched names from the greek pantheon for days before deciding on one, still wanting to honor the decision of her parents to choose a name from there in the first place
she is much, much, MUCH happier and more comfortable and looser in her personality and presentation. she can finally fucking BREATHE!!!!!!

she is not
calypso is just as haughty and overconfident and catty, she just cares more about Experiencing Her Life than Being The Best. she already knows shes the best.
100% a woman but she considers her gender to be unique and exclusive because shes just like that
she loves being 6'1" actually she thinks its awesome
she is in fact able to go on progesterone because it was first prescribed in 1934! my trans headcanon is historically accurate! yay!
still doesnt really start exploring romantic relationships in earnest until after shes at a state in her transition that shes comfortable with
instead of going to the olympics or working in politics like her family she works to preserve ixian culture as like. an archivist. a translator. an ambassador. something more low-stakes. gotta let her relax.
theres more i could say but its hyper specific to the character interactions ive been writing with my friends + i might be writing a fic about this exact thing for the future. we shall see.
instead of doing artfight ive been consumed by my Apollo Is A Closeted Trans Girl agenda. im not sorry im having fun. notes for the current apollo state in my small friends-only roleplay server + graves helping her go shopping later down the line.
it was surprisingly easy to port blake into the deadlock universe. i have no idea how to plan out actual abilities but he would be very melee focused, with a low fire rate but heavy-hitting loud as fuck revolver (called Russian Roulette). nothing about his kit is actually related to him being a selkie.
i got lightning struck in the brain with the idea to make a personal design for terra to go with my beast boy and then i realized i havent drawn her at all in many years. im so sorry terra.
took me a while to draw anything this month until i suddenly got hit with the need to draw my durge. half-elf paladin who doesnt know what tf is going on.

putting off drawing lilith again for months because i dont feel like drawing her in-game outfit before i remember i have free will and can just put her in whatever i want
