Pedicularis canadensis, sometimes called wood betony (which is really the name of another plant) or lousewort. It is a parasitic plant that draws from the roots of other plants, and also makes its own food by photosynthesis. . . The roots are astringent and antiinflammatory, and have been used externally for all sorts of swellings from bugbites to tumors. The leaves, or an infusion of them, is good for relieving itching and repelling fleas and other creepy crawly things. . . The plant has been used traditionally both to help people feel more affectionate and to induce labor or miscarriage, suggesting that it might promote the production of oxytocin. Internal use is somewhat complicated by the astringency of the plant, which can induce vomiting in larger doses. In my practice i have used it some with autistic children and adults with the intention to reduce frequency and severity of meltdowns (sometimes it works very well, sometimes not). . . . . #nature #natural #herbal #plant #herbalmedicine #medicinalherbs #naturalhealth #naturopathy #holistichealth #organic #wild

there’s literally no doubt in my mind that the entirety of the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror was based on this picture and that is….fine tbh

personal
concept: we wake up one day and nature has grown decades overnight. we can’t remember where the roads used to be. in some places the trees are so tall and thick we can barely see sky. the grass hasn’t been mowed in years. how quiet everything is now
