Here is the blog where I (sorta-kinda) keep all things related to my Wasp Hive Academy project!

It's been over one hundred years since the War of SandWing Succession, the opening of JMA and the terror of Darkstalker, the liberation of Pantala, and (arc four reference)- and finally we've opened a new branch of Jade Mountain Academy here on Pantala, named Wasp Hive Academy, for the hive it is in.

55 students across the eleven tribes have been accepted and sorted into five winglets- here these students will have the chance for in depth learning, community with other tribes, and more!

By all means, Pyrite should be dead now. But she wasn't real, was she? Just a necklace. She felt different, no longer cold and icy at her core, there was something dark and leafy. And where was she? This doesn't look like Pyrrhia. Where is Scarlet? I am loyal to Queen Scarlet. President Scarlet?

With these final results, @kipper7 is the artist whose banner is the official Wasp Hive Academy banner

Now because the second place art piece fits and, in part, admittedly because ommf gets some friend privileges and having this conviently placed other piece of good art gave me the idea, each "book" of the fic is going to have its own "cover", posted with the prologue! The first one, with some minor alterations, because the piece of art from @something-ix !

The project is still officially on pause, and I will say this is related to it but I don't wish to hold court on the topic. Two characters had to be removed from the roster and so some cast changes need to occur.

The slot of the Amber Winglet LeafWing and the Seaglass Winglet SandWing are opening back up

Since this change has come after Winglet groups were set up, there are a few more restrictions on submissions for these two spots

• LeafWing

- A LeafWing or (preferably LeafWing dominant) LeafWing hybrid

- masc, androgynous, or neutral aligned gender

- now this note isn't as steadfast because it's vague and in the end I'm the one deciding whose best for the project, but if you're character is one that you'd think would get along with their Clawmate (Dauber's profile link), that's what I'm looking for

• SandWing

- A SandWing or (preferably SandWing dominant) SandWing hybrid

- fem, androgynous, or neutral aligned gender

- now this note isn't as steadfast because it's vague and in the end I'm the one deciding whose best for the project, but if you're character is one that you'd think would get along with their Clawmate (Cardinal's profile link), that's what I'm looking for

Both the characters removed where shy types, though a character being a nervous personality is not required.

Given that I will be slotting these characters into empty spots left by the removed characters, there will be more discernment in which characters get accepted, depending on the amount of submissions offered I may take a few submissions for each and then pick one from what I get

I do not have a proper drawn ref but I can give you some details and leave the rest to fan interpretation

Very bright orange-red body scales is her defining feature, a very warm toned SilkWing. It's a more gold-orange closer to the feet maybe. Belly scales are an iredecent gold-yellow and her antennae are also a gold color. As for wings perhaps primarily red with gold colored patterning, perhaps some white? Artist's call ig

Now the SilkWings as of current time do not have a crown but listen as I say some bullshit

I like to think that the old SilkWing crown was relatively simple. Like very simple steel (I googled it it's lighter than silver so it's possible okay) that's on the darker side for the alloy. It's special piece is a bismuth crystal. (The steel is a more neutral color than gold or silver and is meant to not clash with scale colors, while the bismuth embodies the great variety of colors that SilkWings may have). This was the BeetleWing crown before the tribe split

Anyway once the SilkWing crown was recovered post-cannon, the vote was made to break it down and spread it across the SilkWing assembly. So many of the higher elected dragons (for example the SilkWings who lead in hives alongside the hive ladies) have a piece of the crown steel that they wear in some way. Except for the SilkWing President, who gets the bismuth crystal

So that's very long and surprise lore talk in order to say that for President Scarlet's jewelry she doesn't have a crown

The jewelry she does wear is a golden chain necklace with The bismuth. Almost all her jewelry is gold/gold colored, and I leave the presence and kind of jems to artist interpretation. She also has a thin chain bracelet on her left wrist and a thicker band type bracelet on her right. Also a tail ring, a smaller one that sits closer to the tail tip. < So all that is gold and compliments her scale coloration the one none gold thing she wears is a simple battered old bronze horn band that has been passed down through her family line since before the Wasp rule

I lowk just pulled most of that out of my ass ngl. That was more details than I thought I had

Forty years after the War of SandWing Succession ended, Jade Mountain Academy graduates Mudpuppy of the MudWings and her SandWing husband Tumbleweed are finally opening Mudpuppy's Home for Orphaned MudWings, a place for troopless MudWings to get to know eachother and form unsib troops. Queen Moorhen herself is sponsoring the project, and she gave Mudpuppy an entire small palace to renovate into the orphanage. They open this autumnal equinox!

OUR OC now /j basically just you're alright with me writing about them. I won't affect anything about them except in this specific story! Oh my goodness I'm so sorry I think I managed to lose Beetle in all the chaos of early submissions.

That was my bad and I want you to still have a character in the story if you like. Perhaps a resident of Wasp Hive, on a level not too far from the one the Academy is on, as a side character? Or if you've got an idea for an older dragon as a teacher then you could get in that way, though if it's a teacher we might have to workshop them a bit.

IceWings celebrate the day Queen Snowfall broke the wall of names and changed IceWing tradition, as Circle Day.

Dragonets draw seven circles, then destroy them, symbolizing breaking tradition. Dragons wear circles of jewelry, in the forl of moons or snowballs, all seven together, to show tribe unity. It is a day of giving compliments and being kind, sharing with those in need and giving back to your community, and giving thanks to the Great Ice Dragon for your gifts.

Seals are eaten to represent the gift of the three seal holes given by Princess Caribou; opals are worm to represent the insight and empathy of the animus Opal; and twined branches and moonglobes are worn and gifted to each other to remember and celebrate the bravery and understanding of Frostbite, creator of the tree of light.

This event last for seven days and nights, and is a kingdom-wide festival full of feasting, sharing, and joy.

I like to think that there are IceWing families who look down on Snowfall's decision, particular some of those that had most of their family in the first circle before it was destroyed. These old fashioned dragons refuse to celebrate circle day, imagine the kid of some uptight religious family whose not allowed to celebrate Halloween. My IceWing Frostbite is from one of those families, very uptight

Ok oak apple day (also known as restoration day or royal oak day) was instituted as may 29th in the 1660s and formally abolished in 1859

It honored the time King Charles II escaped from Cromwell's army by hiding in an oak tree on that day 1651

Celebrated by pinning an oak apple to the lapel, non participants would be pinched or have overripe fruit thrown at them.

Hivemind's biological HiveWing, if I choose to make Fire Ant their adoptive mom, would actually have been an old friend of Fire Ant and the least despised biological relative of Lady Centipede. Their name is Lady Moth, they are nonbinary, and they are the child of the current HiveWing queen, a cold and power-hungry dragon who wants to unlock the secrets of tribal and hybrid powers and use them for her own gain. One such dragon was a NightWing? soldier by the name Woebringer, and he caught the fancy of Lady Moth, who was also studied for their powers and to see how far they could reach.

Lady Moth had venom that seemed to induce a trance-like state and giving them mild control over others, especially if used as incense or burned. Worbringer had no powers from the moons, but was incredibly strong and durable, seemingly to survive things that would kill other dragons. The two talk, joke, share a drink or two, and fall for each other as friends first, lovers second. Then the queen wants to get rid of anyone who knew of her secret experiments, ordering them to be killed or exiled. So Lady Moth helps Woebringer escape, yet they choose to stay...

Because they can't leave. Not in their condition. Not with another on the line.

So they stay, mourning and somber and dreary. Their aunt hears of this, and visits them to give them an earful- only to hear their confession through sobs and tears, begging for help, for mercy, for an answer on what to do... So Lady Centipede and Fire Ant help them hide their egg... by letting Fire Ant adopt it, leaving to Lady Centipede's to hide from the queen, in case she remembered them or suspected they were hiding something from her.

Lady Moth is sarcastic, witty, and sometimes somber, while Woebringer was gruff with a heart of gold, despite all he'd seen and done. They adored Fire Ant, and together they would have been happy. If they could, they would have fled to somewhere else, far away from the Queen of the Hives if they could...

Fire Ant always called Hivemind her little princex... they just never knew how true that was.

Woebringer doesn't know any of this, but he had made a life for himself, becoming a teacher to help other dragons and dragonets in need of guidance and care, better than he ever received.

Lady Moth still wears veils of dark green and gray, hiding their face and hoping to appear as unthreatening and obedient as possible. They regularly visit the Temple of Clearsight, now a protected holy sight after the repurposing of Wasp Hive into Wasp Hive Academy. They are supposed to be a spy, but they honestly only want to see their dragonet, even if they never know the truth.

(NightWing Logan was actually a piece of fanart I received, and using the NightWing base by SoFizzticated, I tried to do a full-body of him. Yes, he is basically Logan from X-Men: Evolution as a NightWing. Yes, Lady Moth is basically a fan version of what if Morph/Kevin Sydney was in X-Men: Evolution. I don't think I want queen Honeybee to be a cruel one, at least not directly. Perhaps the lady of Wasp Hive who she gives entirely too much freedom, uses the facilities of her hive to her advantage. After all, who would expect Wasp Lady* to be running such experiments, when a school like the academy is only a few levels down?

* I like to think that, having the hives retain their old names as I do, the ladies of the hives end up with two titles. Lady (name) and (hive) Lady

I do like your thoughts, I would just need to tweak your ideas a bit for it to match with my own. Perhaps Lady Moth is the child of Wasp Hive's lady, who would be Queen Honeybee's elder sister, making Hivemind the queen's grand-nibling rather than grandchild?

Of course, if Woebringer is a teacher, he could be teaching at the Wasp Hive Academy, with no clue that one of the young HiveWings he watches after is his own child.

Maybe Lady Moth and Woebringer weren't ordered to be killed, but rather kept apart? Idk I'll have to think on that. Nobody knows why Lady Moth almost never leaves their hive (the non-binary gene is real omg /silly), or why the lady of Wasp Hive keeps such a keen eye on the NightWing teacher who lives in her hive, and who would have any reason to guess why the two are connected?

Fire Ant and Lady Centipede! They love to gossip and sip tea and watch theater together.

Lady Tardigrade of Yellowjacket Hive, a down-to-earth dragon who takes good care of her Hibe and its citizens. She works with her appointed SilkWing advisor and LeafWing ambassador to store and ration food and water and flamesilk, especially during the dry seasons and disasters like hurricanes and wildfires. She is a bit plump and stout, and takes care of the gardens assigned to her Hive and within her palace. ( @ainsellshadewalker I hope you like your Lady, she was so fun to color and I think she'd be so sweet!)
