Bought an old Gary Fisher Tassajara from a pakcik and damn this bike is old. Lots of wear and need lots of work. Can’t wait to source out some parts and start building this bike for myself to finally have a steel commuter.

New rubbers for the commuter bike! I finally decided to take the plunge and get the Schwalbe Billy Bonkers even tho it does cost quite a lot.

But am I happy with it? Hell yeah. I am impressed by these tires. They’re light and fast rolling. Super fun and really worth it.

Plus the skinwall looks great with the blue accents on the bike! Love how this one turned out.

This bike was originally running on a 3x9 drivetrain but after a few rides, the front mech was having shifting issues. So I ditched it and converted it to a 1 by. A little bit of modern fit into an old school style mtb.

Oh and also new seatpost, stem and handlebar. Going for the chrome components😎

So this was how the bike turned out after the built. Took me a week with multiple trial and error, learning how to tune the derailleurs, bleeding the brakes and what not.

I used whatever parts I had lying around to complete the bike for e.g the handlebars and stem. Was quite happy how it turned out but this was definitely not the end.

And I intend to use this as my commuter bike.

So my uncle gave me his wheelset, drivetrain and brakeset from his old mountain bike that I stripped. The drivetrains are Shimano XTR and the brakesets are XT. Rims are Mavic laced to Deore XT hubs. Not forgetting the parts are like 20 years old and still in really great condition.

All I had to look for was a frame, tires and other parts to complete the bike.

Once I got the frame which is a Wheeler Proride that I snagged for $40, I started assembling the main parts.
