You're interpretation of vic is probs my favorite out there. What's your opinion on how vic is being portrayed in the new "arcane" series?

While his character in Arcane is sweet and kind, it's really not Viktor the Machine Herald to me. The crucial story beats and character aspects are different.

Viktor was originally conceived as a mad scientist, a man suffering from mental illness ("he sank into a deep depression, barricaded himself in his private lab and cut all human ties"). The weirdness of his came from what he did to himself, not because his goal was decidedly evil. He got audience sympathy because of injustices he suffered.

Arcane Viktor on the other hand is forced to augment, else he'd die. There is nothing shocking or weird in that. As a friend of mine put it, "you would be a heartless monster to not like Arcane Viktor" and they are right. He is a very straightforward and sympathetic guy because he never did anything bad, but he also doesn't have any character flaws.

Original Vik however, clearly had desire for recognition and was even arrogant to an extent. His appeal was much more nuanced and complex.

I appreciate both characters, but I worry original depiction will be forgotten under the layer of Arcane.
