“Ehehehe. You’re probably right, Emi, about my foolishness. I don’t know much about you kids with red eyes, but I seem to be meeting more of you lately. It’s certainly different for me. Maybe, only if you want to, that is…I’ll get to hear the story of your darkness after mine.”
“As for me, and my tale of darkness. This is what I do with my spare time, what takes up the most room in my head. Another reason behind my broken mirror fragment. There’s a girl at my school, the one who’s the most popular our of all the rest, the one who is absolutely perfect. Her name…is B-ko. She was the first person to really give me any attention. You see, I was never happy with myself, I’ve always wanted to be perfect. And I’ve always, always failed. Being close to someone who was actually perfect, I wanted to give up, just to stop being.”
“Then, one day, a miracle occurred. I found out that B-ko wasn’t perfect all the time, that she hid a side of herself from most other people. This
was my single ray of hope. B-ko…turned into a reasonable goal for me. It showed me that she…was still human.”
“You see, I want to be perfect so badly, that this desire of mine…turns twisted and evil. I don’t think of myself as human…only as an insect, drawn to the first bright light it sees, fated to burn by coming too close. That light was B-ko. As an insect, I’m always drawn to the light, drawn to her. I follow her constantly, using the mirror to steal away glimpses of her, to find out what she’s doing, where she’s going, who she’s with…all in an attempt to reach perfection, to reach her and her light.”
“Every. Single. Time. I fail. I get burned and have to try again, captured in a more deadly loop than with the Demise Game. I’m wrapped up in greed and selfishness, driven by an insane obsession which drives others away. Who, after all…would want to interact willingly with the dark, once they knew what it contained? That I’m part of it? Hopelessly entangled in a trap where there’s no escape for the thing called, ‘D-ne.’ The only answer that I’ve found, is if not to posses B-ko…then…its to become her…”
“This is my tale of darkness, the real me…” Had D-ne been able to move, she would have put her head on the table, hide her face away, but…she couldn’t. So she stared blankly ahead, having spilled her story to a stranger, confessing all her hopes and anger so completely…that she felt empty.
