this was apparently earlier this week, although there are different reports that different ministries had been set on fire (planning, agriculture, finance, taxes) from different news reports scattered over this week
 -Pretty intense fighting between the protesters and the cops. The people (union workers, teachers, students, etc.) threw fireworks, rocks, and whatever they could find. Cops as usual had tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper spray, batons.
 -A couple of cops shot real, lethal bullets. One man got hit, as far as I know heâs not dead by still in the hospital in a pretty bad state. Other people also were hurt by the cops in less-than-lethal ways, of course, plus someone who blew their hand up with some fireworks.
 -The army was deployed through a âGuarantee of Law and Orderâ, giving them policing power in BrasĂlia for the following week (untill 31/05).
The protests were against the neoliberal labor rights and social security reforms and for the abdication of Michel Temer (who became president after Dilma Rousseff was impeached under very flimsy excuses and very obviously for political reasons; basically a legal coup) followed by a new, direct presidential election.
Whatâs the most disgusting about the American news Iâve seen about this is that the major concern is that temers use if violent force against protestors will endangered the reforms

May 24th 2017, police  in the Bay Area raided two houses and arrested one person in connection to the recent protests in Berkeley California. In this moment of increasing state repression, we must be vigilant in protecting ourselves, each other, and our communities.
Never speak to the police. Remember that any response can incriminate you and others. You have a right to remain silent, but not to lie â even to say âI donât know.â Better responses are âI have nothing to say to you.â or âNo comment.â We recommend practicing how to respond to emergency situations such as raids where police are particularly threatening and nefarious about getting you to speak to them.
Share this information with friends and housemates, particularly those who are intimately tied to political communities but are not that involved or invested in them. These are often the people the state targets to get information on wider activist communities.
Political repression in any form has the common purpose of undermining our movements as a whole, even when it seems particular individuals are the targets. Therefore it is extremely important that we all get prepared for further repression. We do this  by supporting each other in remaining calm and brushing up on some basic know-your-rights information as well as being mindful of how we communicate on the internet.

This booklet is the best know-your-rights manual to dealing with law enforcement encounters that weâve come across. Although it was written for how to handle encounters with federal agents, the information is just as useful in situations with local police. The first chapter, which is only 8 pages, covers law enforcement visits and searches. The booklet also covers state infiltration, surveillance, grand jury resistance, and special considerations for non citizens.
Time to Beef up Defense Against Far-Right Doxxing
Now that thereâs a far right, internet-based movement growing in this country, we have to deal with attacks on two fronts: the state, and the far right. The alt-right might put you on the radar to the state and/ vis versa. If our personal information is available online, the alt right can find you and âdoxxâ you, meaning they publicize your name, address, phone number and your family membersâ names, addresses and phone numbers for the purpose of harassing and intimidating you. The state can and does monitor activistsâ communication and internet activity. This website is an excellent resource for giving you step-by-step guides to encrypting and securing your various devices and computer operating systems. It also goes over encrypting email.
Resisting Grand Juries
With resistance comes repression and unfortunately often repression leads to more repression. We can help damage control this by always refusing to talk to law enforcement. Sometimes investigations result in grand juries. It is important to be prepared to remain silent if subpeoned to a grand jury. We should all prepare ourselves to support those who refuse to testify. This website has tons of information on grand juries, how they work, and the importance of resisting them. We particularly recommend reading the âStatement of Resistanceâ written by a collective of folks from various movements in the Bay Area and endorsed by dozens of groups, political prisoners, and former grand jury resisters.

I know I only recently made a post about Golden Dawn, but this is extremely serious!
Golden Dawn doesnât just attack immigrants -
Theyâve infiltrated the police force and judiciary. For years itâs been impossible to incarcerate them for their crimes because the police has too many of them. They get away with assaulting immigrants and refugees, leftist protesters, even other Members of Parliament. Thus the police is free to literally torture leftists but Golden Dawn is practically untouchable.
They throw molotovs at refugee camps.
Theyâve launched attacks on Egyptian immigrants while they were working.
They murdered Shehzad Luqman, a Pakistani immigrant, without provocation.
They killed Pavlos Fyssas, a well-known music artist, because he was anti-fascist.
They nearly beat a university student to death because they thought he was against them.
They physically assaulted a woman on national television because they didnât agree with her.
They raided a school because it was attended by refugee children.
Theyâre teaching kids the Nazi salute and recruiting minors in their youth group.
They assaulted a Member of Parliament because âhe wasnât showing them enough respectâ.
Golden Dawn is a terrorist organization. The government isnât doing anything about it, the police is aiding them,
Left-wing activists and anarchists are trying to repress the party, demonstrating against them, countering their attacks by doing drive-by shootings or blowing up their offices. Unfortunately, this is just one of the many problems Greece is dealing with, and it would be virtually impossible to crack down on the party without creating a civil war.
Golden Dawn is what remains of a fallen fascist dictatorship. We canât let them rise again.
