microsoft outlook is taking the bioware approach and giving me the option to romance my coworker now
I bet you anything there’s at least one other person who’s like:
Hot Take:
I’d rather have a good ending than more seasons
Very much related: I’d rather have a good ending than a sequel.
Just a heads: Posting commitioned stories or mentioning that they are on AO3 can actually hurt their case about hosting fanwork. :S especially after the new copyright law in Europe, this has become really serious. Fanwork, fanfiction in general in the past has had issues of law suits and such because the author thought the fan gained profit out of it. Just a heads up, because it could rear its ugly head again. It's a reason why people wrote "copyrighted by so and so, don't sue" in the past :S
Thank for the heads up! I appreciate it, I’ve spent time reviewing the AO3 guidelines in the past and my understanding of it was that you may post commissioned pieces and say that it was commissioned, however you cannot advertise in any way to obtain commissions. But I do understand where you are coming from, and the last thing I would want is to create headache for AO3. I’ll get around to removing mentions of any works being commissioned ^^ Thanks for the message!
Due to personal reasons I will be ignoring canon completely and creating my own au
Can I just say ilysm and that you're a huge inspiration? You're honestly one of the nicer and easier to talk to writers I've met and you've encouraged me to pick writing back up with your works and your kind words. I hope to continue seeing works from you and I hope you know that I def plan to stick with you no matter what fandoms you move on to! Your work is fantastic and even if I'm not familiar with a fandom it's all the more reason to check it out! Hope you're doing well, stranger!
Ahh, that is kind of you to say, thank you so much for your compliments! <3 Wishing you all the best for your writing endeavors and glad that I could help encourage you to pick it up again! Please do continue hanging around! I rotate fandoms ~1 year or so, and currently, I’ve returned to Fate/ but in another 3 year cycle I’ll probably be back to Transformers xD In the mean time, PLEASE JOIN ME IN MY FATE/ PIT SO I CAN THORST AMONG OTHERS AGAIN xD

Cu Chulainn: It seems like bad things keep happening to me, like I have bad luck or something.
Scathach: Setanta, you aren't having bad luck. The reason why bad things happen to you is because you’re a dumbass.

OH THANK GOD, your blog is still here o__o
Yes! Hello it is I! xD The names change but the trash stays the same on Tumblr, huh? xD I’m flattered people care about this blog to check in because I’m hardly active on here haha.
If this place does get cut though, I’m peacing out, I’m pretty much on here for following artists and occasionally answering asks. Other than that, the other posts on here often rustle my jimmies >>
Why are people still up in arms about AO3 needing donations to run? Their budget is publicly available. You can go onto the website, right now, and read it. If you donate more than a certain amount (pretty sure it’s more than $10), you can vote in their elections, because you’re considered a member, and that’s how memberships work.
It’s a free site to use, but not to run or to maintain, especially not with all these net neutrality battles.
Here’s a list of the OTW’s projects.
Here’s its Terms of Service.
Y’all gotta understand that it’s not just fanworks, there’s a lot more that goes into archiving.
Signal boosting this because it’s important af. OTW is a nonprofit organization, specifically a public charity as classified by the US tax code. That means they file a 990 tax report each year that lets you see all of their finances – what they’re spending money on, where their money comes from, etc. You can see their 2016 990 here if you’re so inclined.
And if you’re not sure about how OTW is using their donations? Ask questions. Get involved. Even if you’re not comfortable with or not in a position to donate, there are lots of opportunities to give your time; it’s an all-volunteer organization that recruits regularly. I know for a fact that I get more value out of what OTW provides than most, if not all, my other paid services combined, so $10 to be a member is more than worth it.
ao3 is routinely used as an example of an excellent digital archive in library and information schools - they’re not just a fansite; they’re held in high regard by people across the industry. they run initiatives to preserve old fansites and groups, in addition to the day to day work of hosting all of our work ad-free to ensure maximum creative freedom. ao3 is not just a place to post your fic; it catalogues and preserves our history and culture.
Plus they also handle legal issues. Like, maybe some of y'all are too young to remember the literal decades of cease and desist letters, strike -throughs, lawsuits, constant site and forum shut downs, etc etc, plus all the pre-internet years of chaos, but there’s a REASON ao3 has such freedom– they /fight/ for it.
That costs MONEY.
We’re not even just talking site maintenance or even advocacy for fair use, they have to take on all sorts of bull, and they’ve been damn good at it. Gone are the days of having to lie about content every time you post to say, ff. Some of y'all laugh when you see people post disclaimers of “don’t own” and “contains gay, don’t like don’t read,” without realizing that even 15 years ago if you’d not done so you’d be leaving yourself wide open to all sorts of bullshit, whether reported by other fans, website staff, web host, authors, or publishing companies.
There’s a reason they need help and support. If you can’t personally financially support it, that’s understandable, but don’t act like ao3 is being unreasonable in their transparency.
me when somethn bad happens:
8gkdn you're such a gift and an amazing person and writer, thank you sm for being kind to me even thoug we've never really interacted much
I’m glad you feel that way, thank you so much for your compliment! ^^ Although I don’t recall being particularly kind to anyone recently xD
theres a simple pleasure in rereading ur own fics
when its been long enough since u wrote it so the plot twists get you :o
reading ur own fic right after u post it: horrible. this author should die
reading it a year later: talented brilliant inspired
