JUVIA HID HER FACE WITH HER HANDS, her torso burrowed further into the crook of Gajeel's one-armed hug. “Juvia is so sorry for the rain. She's embarrassed.” Probably not, but Juvia felt like she had to apologise for bringing the gloom with her. Gajeel didn't deserve that. No one deserved that.
It was probably why she was rejected for the nth time; maybe she should just...stop trying. The water mage wasn't as pretty as the others, and she should just accept that.
“Juvia appreciates your presence, Gajeel-kun,” she said, voice muffled slightly by her hands. “She knows she can count on you.” A simple, yet very real, statement.
Juvia listened intently to him, despite hiding behind her hands. To her, Gajeel was one, if not the strongest person she ever knew. Years before joining Fairy Tail, when both of them were still in Phantom Lord, when both were S-class mages and the strongest ever were, she knew she would find Gajeel whenever and wherever she needed.
So, appreciating his comfort with her gloom only made her sadder and the rain to fall harder. A full on monsoon would start if she didn't calm herself down.
“Juvia knows there is merit to Gajeel-kun's words. But she...she can't do it,” she admitted, removing her hands to regard her friend with big, teary eyes. “Someone did hurt Juvia. But Juvia probably brought it on herself.”
With a shaky sigh, Juvia shook her head as silent tears ran down her cheeks. “Fuck love,” she whispered, only then realising it was one of the few times she cursed out aloud. “Err...Juvia means...” her remorse quickly turned into embarrassment. “Sorry. That was un-lady like.”
