Coses que he après durant el 2018:
7. Donat temps per fer el dol. Tingues paciència amb tu mateix. Sentir tristesa d’una cosa que has perdut simplement li dona validesa i grandesa a allò que has sentit. No pots despendre’t d’una cosa que has estimat molt sense fer dol. Va annexat. Està en el contracte de l’amor.
8. Fer coses sempre fa sentir bé. Quedar-se a casa és més provable que no.

in therapy my therapist and i were talking about my own feelings of self worth in relationships. and she asked me to say qualities about myself that someone else would be attracted to, on a romantic and platonic level. so i named some things like compassionate, empathetic, etc. and she said “you named things that you can give someone. ways you can serve, rather than ways that you are” and y'all..my mind was blown that’s gonna stick with me forever like she then proceed to tell me actual innate qualities about myself that she liked and thought anyone else would like as well and i hadn’t even considered those because like she said i was focused on things i could do outwardly to attract and maintain connections rather than who i was as a person..goddamn!!! thats tea!!!
With this in mind, this also makes me think of the ways people describe us. When people say the reasons that they love/like you or describe you as a person, are they only naming ways that you serve them? Are they equating your worth with how much you do for them?
ex. “You’re such a good listener. You’re so generous, you’re so compassionate. You’re always there for me. You always hold me down. You’re reliable”
vs.
“You’re so funny! You’re very vibrant. You’re creative, passionate, and intelligent. You’re optimistic. You’re so talented at ____” , etc. I think that’s very telling.
In Basque we don’t say “In love” , we say “maiteminduta” which roughly translates to “hurt by love”.
In Basque we don’t say “cancer”, we say “minbizia” which roughly translates to “intense pain” and I think it’s quite accurate in every sense.
In Basque we don’t say “give birth”, we say “erditu” which translates to “divide by two” and I think it’s beautiful.
In Basque we don’t say “moon” we say “Ilargi” which translates to “the light of the dead”.
In Basque we don’t say “desert”, we say “basamortu”, which roughly translates to “dead forest”.
In Basque we don’t say “free”, we say “musutruk” which translates to “in exchange of a kiss”. Example: Musutruk emango dizut. Translation: I’ll give it to you for free (I’ll give it to you in exchange of a kiss).
Explanation: The Basque language is an ancestral language spoken in the north of Spain and in the south of France. It’s the oldest language of Europe.

sometimes you’re not gonna have support from anyone. keep going anyway. you’re strong enough to make it.
i want friends with whom i can visit art galleries and photography collections, exchange monthly book recommendations, take long city walks during the night, drink cheap wine while listening to vinyl records, browse second-hand bookshops, spend all day in little libraries, sit on balconies and take pictures of the evening sky
Not to be corny but do u ever get hit with a wave of love so comfortable and deep that u feel like uve already loved this person for thousands of years

“You had a beautiful friendship. Maybe more than a friendship. And I envy you. In my place, most parents would hope the whole thing goes away, or pray that their sons land on their feet soon enough. But I am not such a parent. In your place, if there is pain, nurse it, and if there is a flame, don’t snuff it out, don’t be brutal with it. Withdrawal can be a terrible thing when it keeps us awake at night, and watching others forget us sooner than we’d want to be forgotten is no better. We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of thirty and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything—what a waste!”
