"Oh I feel very normal," Holland said, hitching her dress up a bit and doing a little kick-step in the grass. "You'd feel more normal with your socks off but I get it, your feet probably stink, don't they?" She was teasing, didn't mean it to be rude, though of course like many things she said, it was rude.

Wattson let out a small laugh. He wasn't offended at all because it was probably true. "Yeah, honestly they probably do." He admitted, shuffling his feet on the grass a bit. "But I mostly don't want to take them off because nobody needs to see them. Don't want anyone to lose their appetites." He joked.

"It's borin' without like, an accomplice, though, y'know?" Cat complained with a slump of her shoulders, "And they might, still pretty early in the night, might not be good for attention 'til everyone's all wasted 'n' shit."

"Yeah, that's true." He said, slightly disappointed that she wouldn't be jumping in. Balls bored him and it could've been very entertaining. "What if we walk by someone and 'accidentally' bump into them and push them in?"

Was that his plan? He'd found the strength to admit to Cress that he was feeling anxious as of late, lying in wait for the pieces to click into place. Alcohol, in whatever capacity or quantity might be able to help him, but the hangover the next day certainly wouldn't. Not with his anxiety, not with his work. "No," he definitively answered. "Everyone else might be getting a little break tonight, but I'm still at work. The Games do not take breaks either."

"But aren't there other Gamemakers taking care of the games right now?" He asked curiously. There was no way they'd leave the games unattended, right? "Doesn't that technically mean you're off? Or do you still have to be cautious in case they need you?"

It was a pretty profound thing to say, and Slate filed that away. It'd make a good line for the zine. How easily they can destroy things. "You're probably right. They can just destroy it, fix it, destroy it again. Doesn't matter to them. They have unlimited money and time." This Arena could go on for as long as they wanted it to. They could do anything with it.

Wattson nodded his head, agreeing. "Though, lets hope that doesn't happen. Sounds a bit repetitive and I'd love for these games to end soon. I'm ready to go home." And he was beginning to run out of things to do. With his tributes dying early, pretending to be busy was starting to get difficult. "What's your prediction on how much longer this is going to last?" He asked curiously. Not that he thought Slate had the actual answer.

Holland snorted a laugh. "Touching grass? Being normal, in the middle of a Games? I don't think anyone in this room has ever done such a thing." She was already kicking off her shoes at the edge of the grass. "But sure. Let's fucking do it."

"Oh.. Is that what that means? Being normal?" Wattson asked, shocked. He had obviously heard it before but clearly he didn't know what it meant. "I thought it just meant.. actually I don't know what I thought it meant. It just made sense in my head." Guess it really was just decoration. "Great." Wattson let out a small laugh as he took his shoes off but kept his socks on. "I hope it still counts with socks." He said as she stepped onto the grass. "I feel normal. You?"

It took a little bit of time for him to catch on to what Watson was talking about, to remember their previous conversation. Only two days had passed since, yet that felt so long ago now. Miller was about to nod, about to tell Wattson that someone had likely spoken to either Everett or Cain. He might even have a mind to mutter out some expression of gratitude. But before any of that could be done, Wattson said his last piece.

Miller looked away. All night, he'd faked appreciation in front of sponsors who had offered similar sentiments of sympathy. He figured he didn't need to do the same with Wattson. "Let's not." The reply was curt, but not angry. He was already far too exhausted to properly express anger.

"Right. Sorry. I just.." Wattson quickly said before cutting himself off, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. "Sorry." He then looked around for a moment trying his best to find anything to say that would fill the awkward silence. "You ever see a blue burger before?" He asked, pushing it closer to Miller as if he couldn't see it where it was. "I was going to take a bite but I don't think I'm brave enough. You wanna try it?" He asked. "Or would you want to go find a dessert with me that looks good and not suspicious?"

"Can't?" Mahlon asked, intrigued. Someone might usually say they didn't want to, weren't interested, didn't do that. But can't? Well, that implied a lack of autonomy. Like want didn't matter anyway. Mahlon moved around, taking up the seat beside him, stretching so his body comfortably took up the whole thing. "You part of one of these sober living communities, or you got a court date next week?"

Wattson laughed before shaking his head. "Nah, I'm not. That's a pretty excuse though. I should just say that." He then made a face, wondering if he really wanted to get into it. "It's lame." Wattson started, crossing his arms over his body, shrugging his shoulders lightly. "Just a stupid promise I made myself and you know, my kid. Trying to stay away from all of that and make the best decisions I can."

"a bit." she admitted, looking around the room before turning towards him. "It's not bad, it's just loud. I'm usually a bit less extroverted than I've been tonight." not that she disliked the ball. it was just... a lot. like all the capitol was. "always fun to bust out the ballgown, though."

"You look nice." she looked up and down wattson's outfit, grinning. she'd seen that piece when it had been half-made, in the needs hemming rack. "turned out nicely."

Wattson nodded his head, definitely agreeing with her about it being loud. Plus there were a lot of people and he just wasn't a huge fan of big crowds. He'd been getting better about it but he'd love to avoid it all costs. "Is this your first ball?" Watt asked curiously, having a hard time remembering if he had seen her at the last one.

"Oh, uh, thanks." Wattson said as he looked down at his outfit quickly before looking at her. "Look, buttons. Your favorite." He joked, pointing to a button that was on his outfit. "You look great. So how does that work? Do you make your own outfit or did someone else?" He had never talked about stylists and clothes this much in his life before.. but it was nice to talk about something new.

"Do you think the grass in the center of the dance floor is their way of telling us we need to touch grass?" Wattson asked the person who was near him. "I'm not much of a summer person, I enjoy the snow but I guess I could touch some grass if I'm supposed to." He shrugged. "Wanna join me?"

"Do these outfits seem to get weirder and weirder every year to you?" He asked Cain who wasn't too far away from him. Looking down at his own outfit and then those around him. "I haven't been to very many Balls but I just really don't understand the style. I mean, no offense to the stylists, they are great, I just don't see why I can't just wear my usual outfit." Maybe because it wasn't strange enough.

Wattson was starting to get hungry so he decided to grab himself a City Lights Burger. He wanted real food and not some sort of treat .. Though a part of him was still trying to decide if he should eat the burger or not. The blue made him feel weird and he didn't know if he was brave enough to try it.

As he searched for a place to sit down he noticed Miller. He was alone and looked much worse than the last time he had seen him. Though Wattson knew that Smith had died recently so of course he was going to be worse. Clearing his throat, Wattson took a seat next to Miller. He was silent for a moment. All Wattson could think about was the last time they had spoke. Wattson was angry about his tributes dying and had taken it out on Miller. Sarcastically agreeing that Smith was fine even though he had a broken wrist. Now he was gone.

"Hey, man." Wattson greeted him. Don't bring up Smith. Don't bring up Smith. "Not sure if anyone had spoken to you but I was able to secure a couple hundred dollars from Sponsors. I don't know how much the exact amount was but I think it was decent. I'm going to try for more but that was the best I could do for now." He was then silent for a moment before speaking again. "And I'm sorry about Smith.." Dammit.

enna had taken a break, because she was getting hot and tired. but she knew that most of the rest were still in there, so it probably wasn't appropriate to leave just yet. instead, she was taking a breather, tapping a finger on her leg and enjoying the night. "you're welcome to join me." she spoke, a few moments after hearing the door open and shut behind her.

Wattson walked into a different room. He wasn't one to enjoy these parties. There were too many people around and the room just felt stuffy. Though, he noticed another person that had probably had the same idea as him. He was about to turn around and leave her alone but she invited him in. "Oh, uh, thanks." He muttered before walking further in. "Is this all too much for you, too?" Wattson asked her curiously.

"Some of those are quite dangerous," Lex mentioned, lightly tapping the bar's countertop with his index finger, glancing over at the victor studying the drink menu. "I would be careful if getting blackout drunk isn't your objective for tonight."

Wattson looked over the menu and nothing really popped out at him. Disappointed, he set the menu down before looking over at the Gamemaker speaking to him. "Yeah, that's never really my goal so I appreciate the warning." Good thing nothing sounded good anyway. "Is that your plan tonight?" He asked curiously. Were Gamemakers even allowed to get black-out drunk?

"So what do you think, the Gamemakers just have fun building stuff and then destroying it or what?" Slate was watching the footage of the storm in the Arena, sipping on a mocktail, when he'd noticed Wattson standing nearby.

Wattson scoffed before shaking his head. "Sounds about right. They probably have a magic button that they press that'll rebuild everything again." Or maybe they didn't. Wattson didn't know anything about gamemaking or their system but it seemed possible to him. "Maybe they just like to show off the power they have. How easily they can destroy things."

"Y'know this shit is supposed to be fun, right?" Mahlon asked, leaning against the back of Wattson's chair. They didn't know each other. Not yet, anyway, but there were only so many of them in the Tower. Word got around. "I get it. Shit sucks." And then, because he was a man of substance(s): "You want somthin' to take the edge off?"

"Is it?" Wattson asked as he sat back in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest. This was his fourth ball and still he hated being here. He wasn't good at socializing but at least this time he didn't have to worry about sucking up to the sponsors. His tributes were dead. Then Wattson made a face before shaking his head. "I appreciate it, man, but I can't. Maybe next time."

"How fast d'you think they'd remove me from the party if I just jumped in the fountain?" Cat asked as she sidled up to Wattson, eyeing the opulent champagne fountain that stood proudly in the center of the room. "It's just like...c'mon it's askin' for it, y'know?" She said gesturing with a hand toward the centerpiece.

"Uhh.." Wattson looked from Cat to the fountain and then back at the girl. "I have no idea. Do you really think they would care?" He asked her. "I say go for it and see what happens. Could be pretty entertaining."
