doihavetomovemycar.nyc?
Almost every day since I moved to Williamsburg, I’ve asked myself “do i have to move my car?”. Most days the answer is “yes”, but sometimes the answer is “no” like where there is a random holiday that I don’t know about (e.g Immaculate Conception (Dec 8, 2016), Shemini Atzereth (Oct 24) and Feast of the Assumption (Aug 15)).
Some time last year, I learned I could get the answer to my daily inquiry from the NYC Alt Side Parking (@NYCASP) twitter account. Thanks to Google’s quick answer box, when I google for “nycasp,” my answer comes right up.
And for a time...it was good.
And then laziness set in. It’s really not hard to open a browser, type 6 letters, hit enter, then read the first result. But eventually that became too much work for me. I wanted to just press a button and get the answer.
So I made doihavetomovemycar.nyc! This site tells me “YES, you do” or “NO, you don’t” when I ask it if I have to move my car.
Check it out! and tell me what you think.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance...
...by just calling them up and saying "my rate seems too high". after trying to sell me stuff, i said "i think i should shop around with other companies", they re-quoted me at a rate way lower than what i'm currently paying plus offered more discounts the takeaway i want to share is to always stay asking about your rates on negotiable products i.e. where there is lots of competition in the space. Some things you can do this with are car insurance, cell phone, credit card rates and limits (one of the most important ones), etc. I'm sure there are a lot more. a lot of times companies sign you at a rate that has since dropped and they don't call you up to tell you that. it seems like corporate greed but it's just logical business. it's always on YOU to protect and maximize YOUR dollars

The road to LoveData first release (12/30/14)
I'm committed to an initial release of LoveData by 1/7/2015. My first step was this past weekend when I went to appery.io to drag and drop my way to success. Unfortunately, their site was down for maintenance. I've conceded to making the app the "old fashioned" way - fire up xcode and learn some Objective-C. Once I opened xcode, entered the title LoveData, company bigheadsolutions, and language swift I thought I was on my way. I got as far as the workspace and said "what the hell do I do next??" So last night I started Apple's tutorial. Tonight I'm going to finish my Todo List and tomorrow I should be ready to rock on LoveData.

First internal release of LoveData coming Jan 7!
Last night, I met with two of my entrepreneurial friends and we talked about the status of our side projects. Mine - LoveData - has been woefully neglected. I have been busy with work and another side project - Brisket. All three of us are at various stages:

In true orbitalnyc fashion we were supportive and constructive - freely exchanging ideas, criticism, and accountability. One thing I learned from orbital (that my friends reinforced) is working in public helps to keep you on track.
So my deliverable for the next time my friends and I reconvene is an initial release of LoveData! I’m planning to use a tool like Appery.io to get a working releasable product without having to learn mobile development.
Can't do it alone
It starts with your idea. Then your idea becomes real. And then it starts to take off. You're excited!
Then you get overwhelmed.Â
So you work harder. Do more with less. Buzz word your way through the hard days and long nights.
Until you've got nothing left.
And then you let go. And let people in. And "your" idea becomes "our" ideas.
Then we win!
