Oh, and just an FYI, I'm going to be doing a big clearout of all our inactive members... at the weekend, I think. So be sure to post before then if you'd like to stay.
Hey, Waxlerites. I know I've been sorely lacking as an admin for a little while -- upsurge of real life stuff, ja feel? -- but that's gonna change soon. Phia and I have been planning some challenges and events for you guys, so look out for them!
Earlier today, my co-admin and I discussed a few things and came up with some ideas for events and such for everyone to participate in, as well as a few minor changes and additions that will be made within the next couple weeks. Just giving you guys a heads up.
Further information will be posted soon.
Hey guys! I'm back, settling in and unpacking bags still but I'm alive! Fortunately there was no Titanic fiasco.
Good to see youâre back, dear. I hope you enjoyed your vacation.
Hey guys it's Cameron. My laptops broken and I have no idea when I'll be back fully. I'll get on my desktop when I can and mobile but yeah just a heads up if I disappear for ages.
Aw, Cam, we'll miss you. Hope you can come back soon.
Activity check.
Please unfollow these people, as they've reached the inactivity limit and are being removed.

We've had a bit of a lull recently, which is okay, because everyone gets uninspired sometimes and this group has proven that it always seems to bounce back. However, the following people need to up their activity to avoid being reopened/deleted:
Jessica Fairchild
Lukas Stevenson
Heath Marlowe
Bethany Taylor
Sean Fervor
Ned Weir
Oliva-Ann Sunderland
Logan Peterson
Hi there! Hannah (Michael D and Gordon G) is going over to America for two weeks so she told me to say she'll be on a hiatus. Me, Grayson and Kyle I will have to put under a half-hiatus, meaning I can't guarantee I will be very active over the next two weeks. After that, I'm fairly confident I'll be back to being normally active. I hope that's okay. :)
That's fine, love. I'll make a note of it on the follow list. Hope you two have a great time!
PATTIE JACKSON â seventeen » female » homosexual » Tuppence Middleton.
Bullied out of her old high school after a group of guys videotaped her and her ex girlfriend kissing in the school art rooms after school hours, Pattie simply couldnât take it anymore. Returning home bruised and reading threatening facebook messages every night. Not longer being able to cope with her life anymore Pattie attempted suicide at the age of 15. PHILEMON LUCAS LUICANI â thirty-seven » male » pansexual » JR Bourne.
Philemon Lucas Luicani was born in what seemed to be the traditional Italian household ran by Camella and Frank Luicani. He was fed well, bathed often and lived in a modest house with modest parents. They were the picture perfect family. His mother was a nurse and his father a firefighter. Though their household was anything but normal, his father Frank was the nephew of Pope John Paul 1 thus leading to a life of heavy religious influence. They saw it as an honor to be related to such a person with such high prestige. Ever since he could remember he had been going to mass. Day in and day out, taking the necessary catechism classes that would prove his faith as a Catholic. He lived in the Catholic school system, knowing every pope and archangel there was to know, never having a tattoo or piercing, no meat on Friday, no sex before marriage and so on. He thought that this was the life he wanted. He thought that there was no way in the world that he could ever want something different until he enrolled in John Paul II Catholic high school.
At the young age of fifteen his hormones, mind, and body started changing. He started to notice things about the other men that were on his swim team. He paid more attention to the biceps of his golf teammate as he swung his five-iron rather than focusing on how great of a shot the player had made. Or how nicea pair of jeans sunk on his best friendâs hips as they walked to class. It didnât take him long to read up on his affliction, but as soon as he realized what was happening he was done for. He confessed to the priest, but in a small town such as Olmsted Falls, everyone knew everyone. He instantly because the social pariah and was beaten up constantly at school. He heard many lectures from his father and the bishops about the benefits of taking him to a camp to rid him of his disease, but he knew none of it would work. No matter what tests or classes he went through to reform his ways nothing worked for him. It wasnât that the thought of being with a woman was disgusting; it was just that he didnât find them attractive in the slightest bit. He wanted the masculine, firm touch of a man rather than the feminine, caress of a woman. He was soon exiled, a disgrace to the family and casted out of every sport and all clubs he took part in. His parents disowned him and his siblings would not have anything to do with him. He was the freak, choosing to live and wallow in sin rather than see the light of Jesus Christ and repent for his thoughts.
So he took to living on the streets. Every now and then when heâd get rounded up by the police for loitering, heâd catch rides with strangers to take him to the next city. He slept in parks, went to homeless shelters, and tried to do anything that would get him out of the slumps, but no one wanted to hire a sixteen year old that had even gotten his GED. He was looked down upon because he had no qualifications for even an entry-level job. His hygiene was poor, clothes worn in, and he had to walk everywhere. He ate out of the trash cans and dumpsters of the cities and stole what little things he could get. When he was seventeen, just after a year of living on the streets, he got a job under the table, working for a glass company that worked with the homeless and ex-cons. It was good pay for day labor, but only last for about four months, supplying him with enough money to get clothes and a bus pass.
He finally made his way to California, instantly enrolling to get his GED and move onto college. The money came easily to him after that. Every grant, scholarship, and type of assistance he could find he applied for. It was more money in his pocket for books, rent, a car, classes, and even a couple of foreign language classes at the civic center. He found psychology to be interesting in high school and followed his interests, fulfilling his basic classes in college and then proceeding to obtain his psychology degree. It was a topic that seems to fascinate him and he could relate to it in more ways than one. When he obtained his masters in psychology at the age of twenty-five, he couldnât have been more thrilled. In California he wasnât exiled, he was welcomed. People didnât care about what gender you found sexually attractive, they were more interested in your knowledge and abilities.
He instantly landed a job as a psychiatric assistant, helping people with eating disorders and the like. In a couple years he realized that the job wasnât as fulfilling as he hope so, he decided to return back to school. He wanted to deal more with the youth, explain to them about what real mental disorders where and how to not build prejudices because someone is different. Explain to them about the psychological effects of homosexual-aversion therapy. He wanted to make children see reason and explanations as to why certain people acted the way they did. He also wanted answers for himself as to why he was raised in such a religious household only to have been cast out for something he couldnât control. He wanted answers and wanted to further his knowledge; he wanted to know if it was his fault for being gay or Godâs.
After about five years he decided to go back to school and get his doctorate in psychology with a minor is secondary education. When attending his educational technique classes, he met a man by the name of Nathaniel Gontier. The man to say the least intrigued him, because he was egotistical and curt, the basic definition of ânarcissistic personality disorder.â Lucas couldnât deny the need to study the younger man, wanting to find out more about the guy and delve into his personal life; to figure out the key turns and quirks for what made Nate become what he was today. Besides, this would just further his quandaring research about evolving personality disorders. When they graduated the man disappeared from Lucasâ life but never form his mind. In the short time that he became close to the man, feelings started to develop. It was as if what Lucas lacked in character, Nate could fill with his void of insecurity. He noticed his attraction to the man, which terrified him because one-night stands were one topic, but a relationship with a man was a whole different can of worms. Heâd been raised to accept and believe that marriage and love were only between a man and a woman. Being attracted and wanting more from a man that was so foul and boastful, that cemented the holes that Lucas personally had was morally wrong to him, but something inside of him edged for it to be so completely right.
The man never strayed far from his thoughts as he interned at a multitude of schools as an AP Psychology and Sociology teacher. He met and found all different types of people at each one, only to secretly diagnose each of them as a way to excuse their asinine remarks or etiquette. But when someone tipped him off about Waxler he was taken aback. He never knew there was such a school that was so completely accepting of character. He wished heâd known about it earlier in his life when he was kicked out. He knew this is where he could do the most good. He could help and mentor other students. He was happily satisfied when he researched Waxler, finding that Nate was there as the assistant principal. He immediately applied, knowing that he could search out the man again and try to make something of their former relationship while helping children that were just like him.

REESE CARMICHAEL â twenty » male » pansexual » Jensen Ackles.
Despite his appearance, Reese grew up in an unstable home with only his mother and younger sister. His mom was never home, always out getting drunk or high, spending her weekends partying instead of taking care of her children. Even when she was home, she wasnât functioning and Reese had to take care of everything at home, including her and his younger sister, Devon. Whenever she came home late, Reese would make sure that she was taken care of, put to bed and cleaning up the needles, bottles, and anything else that could harm her. Even when she was gone seven sheets to the wind and took everything out on Reese, he still made sure she was taken care of. No matter what she was saying or doing, Reese would always take care of her. Even at a young age he knew he needed to take care of people.
When Devon was taken out of the home and placed into foster care, he was more than relieved because it meant that Devon wouldnât have to go through everything he did; the physical abuse along with the emotional and mental as well. Even before everything turned for the worst, Reese still remembers the time when they were actually a family, before the divorce and when their father was still in the picture. However, it didnât last long and late at night, Reese likes to think back on that time.
Once he turned sixteen, Reese was out of the house. Heâd taken care of his mother, been abused for sixteen years and it was time to get out and find his sister again. While working two jobs, going to school, and being paid under the table from any work he could do in his limited free time, Reese filed for emancipation from his mother. Once he was officially on his own, Reese didnât ask for help, he did everything on his own. Heâs the type of person who on their deathbed wouldnât ask for help unless it was absolutely necessary. He works until his hands bleed and wonât sit down to rest until everything is done for the day. His whole life heâd been told by his mother that he couldnât do anything on his own. The judge had told him that he didnât believe Reese could raise his sister in a stable home. Heâd been told he wouldnât get a full scholarship to the University. However, each and every person that told him he couldnât do anything, he proved them wrong because he did end up being able to do each and every one of those things.
Now at the University, he tries his hardest to give Devon a stable home and life style all while begrudgingly accepting financial help from their very distant father, heâs making it work somehow but he isnât going to step back from his two jobs and school to relax. He needs to prove to everyone that he can do it.

VIOLET SINCLAIR â twenty-two » female » pansexual » Emilia Clarke.
Born in Oregon, Violetâs parents were sixteen when she was born, the result of a drunken hook up. Her young mother, Ella, did not have the means to look after her, and so tried to put her up for adoption. Instead, her father, Peter, insisted heâd take her in and raise Violet on his own with the help of his parents.
A few months after, young Peter realised he was bisexual, and in love with his best friend, Roy. It turns out these feelings were requited. By the age of twenty, the two were fully committed to each other, with Roy promising to raise Violet as his own with Peter. Both Violet adored Roy, calling both Peter and Roy daddy, and was perfectly happy, until she started school, when kids started poking fun of her for being raised by two men, teachers even giving the young girl a hard time because of it. Despite neither of the men attending University to raise the child, they were both intelligent young men who exceeded in life, and they now own a successful chain of businesses across Oregon. They were able to provide Violet with an amazing childhood and upbringing, and even though they did everything any ânormalâ family would, people still gave her a hard time over her parents.
When she was in High School, things seemed to get better, as the times were changing and people started to realize being gay was okay. Violet was âpopularâ in High School and people seemed to follow her around, practically begging to be her friend, but it wasnât because of her personality. Although she was a sweet girl, people would use her for her familyâs money, then later stab her in the back and leave her, so Violet never had any true friends.
When she graduated, Violet was accepted in to many Universities due to inheriting her fathersâ intelligence and encouragement from her dadsâ, but eventually decided on Cali State. It just seemed perfect to her. Being by the ocean constantly, the sun, the scene, and she had a chance to completely re-invent herself, instead of just being the rich girl with gay dads.
Although things are pretty much going perfect for her, there is that constant thought embossed in her skull, that she wants to meet her mother. The woman who gave birth to her. However, Violet canât bring herself to tell anyone this, believing people would find her a bad daughter to her two fathers, and unappreciative of everything Roy has done for her. There is also a constant fear plaguing her of not being good enough, and not living up to her parentsâ expectations, fearing that if she isnât perfect, sheâll not only be a disappointment to herself, but to them, too.

DEVON CARMICHAEL â sixteen » female » homosexual » Hayley Williams.
If one were to look up the definition of a ray of sunshine, it wouldnât be surprising if they found it to be something along the lines of âDevon Nicole Carmichaelâ. In spite of the fact that she grew up in a fairly unstable environment, getting tossed around from one foster home to the next for most of her childhood, she is surprisingly on the straight and narrow; one of those truly and innocently genuine people that seem to be so hard to come by anymore. She doesnât drink, she doesnât smoke, she doesnât do drugsâ to be honest, she doesnât even drink caffeine. But in her eyes, and mostly everyone that knows her as a matter of fact, Devon is hyper enough as it is. She doesnât need anything to lift her spirits up; the ADHD already does that for her naturally. Ninety nine point nine percent of the time, sheâs ready to bounce off the walls without the help of any stimulants. She doesnât need anything to make her feel good because she already feels good, and unfortunately, everyone within a fifteen foot radius will be subjected to her happy-go-lucky mood and the cheesy jokes that accompany it.
While she doesnât partake in those kinds of extra curricular activities, Devon does have one addiction that she hasnât been able to shake yet. Music. Anything to do with music. From a young age, she sang in churches and choirs, which then turned into learning how to play every instrument she could get her hands on. Currently, the toll is up to six (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, saxophone, and ukulele), but itâs still growing. As soon as she finds another instrument to glue her hands on to, Devon wonât hesitate in reaching for it.
Up until last year, she was going to school in Tennessee. It was pretty rough living in a backwards hick town and being openly gay. She didnât have many friends at all growing up, and a lot of the neighborhood talked about herâ both behind her back and to her face. There was also a fairly traumatic incident with some of the boys from her school and a cattle brand, but she doesnât talk about it and hasnât reported it to anyone yet. It wasnât until her brother, Reese, turned eighteen and was finally able to legally adopt her, that things started changing for the better. Seeing as he attends the Long Beach campus of California State University, and receives extra extensions from their father to afford it, Reese felt that it was only right to enroll her into Waxler. Which was possibly the best thing her brother could have ever done for her. Instead of being singled out for liking girls and treated as some kind of victim of leprosy, she fits in quite well with the rest of the school. Even though a lot of her friends are guys, simply from playing sports with them for the most part, Devon tends to get along with pretty much everyone.
But in spite of her easy-going demeanor, Devon Carmichael is far from what one would call an open book. She has a heart made out of pure gold, and a dominating hero complex that causes her to care about helping people she might not even know all that well. But the truth is that she isnât one for talking about herself, or her problems, and she hates accepting help from others. Having a manipulative druggie for a mother who only calls when sheâs looking for money or needs something from someone isnât exactly the greatest conversation starter, nor is talking about a man who lives in Cancun with his second wife and three replacement kids, but still feels the need to send them money because itâs his âparental dutyâ, even though he hasnât been around since Devon was a baby. No one needs to know about the constant torment she went through back in Tennessee, or the fact that itâs caused her to have serious doubts about herself. As far as Devon is concerned, her problems donât matter anyway. Itâs everyone else who needs the support. She can carry it all on her own just fine, and if she falls down, sheâll just dust herself off and get right back up again.

NATALIA SANCHEZ â seventeen » female » bisexual » Naya Rivera.
The thing about living with drug addicts - you never know when theyâre going to just leave and never come back. This harsh truth haunted Natalia Sanchez every night after she first caught her mother shooting up. She was forced to grow up much faster than intended in order to tend to her little brother, Marcus. Nat finally realized why her parents stopped coming home every night, and opted for rather only every other night. She understood why they never had enough money for new clothes or toys or even food. Her parents were always spending what little money they had on any drugs they could find. Even though Natalia was the mere age of eleven, she had to understand it all. She was /forced/ to understand it all. Nat had to be the grown up in her little brotherâs life or she really didnât know how theyâd get through. But even so, she was still eleven, with the childish naivety still brewing inside of her. She didnât understand the mistake she made about telling a teacher at school about how her mommy and daddy put needles into their arms or put white powder up their nose until the police were taking her parents away in handcuffs and Natalia and Marcus were being thrown into an orphanage four hours away from their old apartment.
The orphanage was horrible, but not worse than their old living conditions. In here, they didnât get thrown abusive slurs or forced to fend for themselves. Natalia thought that maybe, just maybe, things would get better. Maybe she didnât have to blame herself for telling the teacher about what her parents do and why she never has money for field trips or textbooks or lunch. They got into the routine of hiding their valuables - though they already knew to do that, so it was more like instinct - and running around with other kids their age who didnât have parents, either. But Nat knew that she and Marcus had parents. And they would come back for them once they got better. Thatâs what the nice policemen told them on the way to the orphanage anyways. Two years passed, and somebody wanted to adopt Marcus. Just Marcus, not Natalia. Natalia screamed that she was going with her little brother no matter what, but the family only wanted one child and that was that. The next day, Natalia and Marcus were two towns over, finding an apartment when she was just thirteen years old. Thatâs not legal, right? Right. But when youâre as smart as Natalia had to be at thirteen, and the landlord was a blind old man, it was surprisingly easy.
They lived on their own for two years. Natalia had three jobs in order to pay the rent, and she never went to school. They barely got by, and Natalia was really, really careful about who she spoke to and what kind of information she gave out. This made her into an extremely closed off and defensive person. But one day, she slipped up. She couldnât pay the rent and get food for her little brother, so she tried stealing something. It was her first time ever, and she got caught. The police wanted to speak to her parents, and that was the end of the life Natalia was desperately trying to give her brother. They were sent back to the orphanage and kept a close watch on. A couple months after being back at the orphanage, a couple came and wanted to adopt Natalia. It was the opposite of what had happened a couple years ago, and Natalia was kept under watch until she was put into the car with her new parents - her brother being left behind. She swore that sheâd come back for him when she had the money, and so began Nataliaâs new life in a crappy apartment that was in California, two states away from the orphanage that resided in Texas and held the most important person in the world to her.
The next year and a half was spent with Natalia working two jobs and saving up every single penny she got in order to fly back to see her brother. Her foster parents werenât much of anything. She resented them when they had first taken her away from her brother, and she hated them even more when she realized that they were just like her real parents - they were drug addicts. They had Natalia living in a shitty room in a shitty apartment. They never bought her new stuff, so Natalia got into shoplifting. Thatâs how she has all of the stuff she does now. People think sheâs rich, but she just steals the stuff she has now and never letâs people come to her house because she doesnât want anybody to know sheâs poor, or adopted, or that her foster parents are drug addicts. Her worst fear is that she wonât be accepted by people. So, she acts like sheâs better than everybody else so people will actually believe it. Sheâs bitchy and closed off and god forbid anybody asks her about her life when she was little or anything before she came to Waxler. She doesnât get close to people, so those people donât dig into her life and find out thatâs sheâs a fake.
Natalia works two jobs when sheâs not at school. Literally, sheâs constantly either at work, doing homework, or at school. She never has any relaxing time or really any time at home. Which is how she likes it. She hates being cooped up in that shit room because her foster parents were doing whatever drugs they managed to get. Theyâre constantly asking for money, too. But Natalia has gotten so closed off and defensive of herself that she straight up tells them no, and hides whatever she manages to get. Itâs definitely taking a toll on her, because sheâs usually running on little to no sleep and has to somehow keep her grades up and go to work. A year after she had been adopted, Natalia had saved up enough money to go back and visit her brother; to tell him itâd be okay, to remind him that sheâd be back for him, to see him and hug him. Her foster parents didnât give a shit. They hadnât even noticed she left until she came back. Natalia had thought that maybe her brother would have been adopted, but no. To her horror, the orphanage had burned down just two months after she had gotten adopted. A horrific fire that took the life of seventeen of the orphans that lived there. Whether Marcus was one of them or not - she has no idea.
Natalia hates that she doesnât know if her brother is alive or not. And she especially hates that thereâs even a possibility that he could be dead. It breaks her heart and has made her into the cold bitch she is today. If anybody even mentions her past or asks about it, sheâll snap at them and most likely make them wish they were never born. Nobody knows where she lives, or how many jobs she works, or that she steals everything she owns. She has gotten caught for it a couple of times, so itâs only a matter of time that itâs kept a secret, and Natalia has to build up her reputation now so it canât be completely torn down later. When she turns eighteen, the girl is planning on going back to Texas to look for her little brother and find out what happened to him. Sheâll stay for as long as she can with the amount of money she has.
As for the meantime, living in California and going to some crappy high school in a bad neighborhood was really getting to Natalia. She was decent at school, despite only getting about four hours of sleep a night, sometimes less. But she didnât know what she wanted to do. Nataliaâs always been interested in dancing and any type of art, and sheâs quite amazing at both. However, she didnât want to pursue a career that wouldnât get her anywhere in life. After all, when she found her brother, sheâd need to provide for him. Being a business major would get her somewhere, but that shit bored her to tears. Finding out about Waxler was the best thing to ever happen to her. It was an accepting school, and Natalia kind of needed that type of thing considering sheâs struggling with her sexuality at the moment. She thinks sheâs bisexual, but the girl really doesnât have any time to figure it out in her hectic life. And itâs not like she knows how it feels to be with a girl, or a guy, even. Sheâs only been in one relationship and that was when she was over a year ago. It wasnât serious, but Natalia decided that relationships werenât for her; it made it harder to keep up the facade that her life revolves around. Though she has had sex with both genders, both while sober. Truthfully, Natalia liked both encounters. Being at Waxler would help her figure that out and not have to worry about being judged or teased.
Natalia will be attending the school, focusing on art and dance - both not very productive in Nataliaâs mind, but she figured she deserved at least something in her life that she liked to do. Sheâll be attending Waxler starting the new term in 2013, and sheâs excited to go and see how their programs are. Making friends isnât on her list of things to do, because she knows that sheâll be bitchy and closed off just as sheâs always been. But Natalia needs some type of distraction from worrying about whether her brother is alive or not.

SHANNON MURRAY â seventeen » female » pansexual » Lucy Hale.
Dublin. That place in the east coast of Ireland, founded as a Viking settlement, blah blah blah - yeah, thatâs the place insignificant Shannon Murray comes from. First born into a middle class family in the populous city, she was daddyâs angel from the moment she opened her eyes. Growing up, she was just like that. She wore her hair in double plaits with bows and lacy dresses with ruffles on the top of her socks. It was picturesque and cliche, but Siobhan and Seamus wouldnât want their oldest child any other way. The way she was aging gave no hint at all to the way Shannon would turn out all these years later.
Now disobedient and stubborn, itâs no surprise they shipped her off to Waxler as soon as she asked. They needed her out of there, far enough away that they didnât have to be directly involved with her. Plus, she was almost an adult â old enough to move out and look after herself. Now why would a parent want to be like that? Funny how when she was their beautiful little six year old doing musical talent shows and playing the piano to her younger brother to help him sleep, they never wanted her gone; but now it was the complete opposite.
It all started like most Waxler students story: sexuality. Shannon had no idea what or who she was, and when she was unsure of it, she was unstable. She wanted to explore who she was, to determine who she was going to grow up and be. Her parents didnât like that. They didnât like her constant changing hair colour or how sheâd talk about getting all these different tattoos. No, she was going to be pristine and perfect. Her peers didnât like her either, but not for the reason of control. They didnât like her because she didnât fit in. She wasnât âone of them.â Shannon had no shame in hitting on girls and guys alike â hell, she didnât care what they identified as, if she was attracted it was as simple as that. But her personality and actions were so unorthodox, it was no surprise she was alienated for it. Reacting like any confused teenager would, Shannon began to act in spite. She did things more, because she knew it would irk people. Her style changed all the time, her make up was heavy, her hair never stayed one colour for too long, sheâd flaunt her sexuality in anybodyâs face â but doing that for so long had itâs side affects, too. She got into the wrong crowd and soon it became a habit of Shannonâs to get high on the weekend and drink until she passed out. Her grades dropped and her attitude changed further, becoming much more like a Scotsman with a fiery temper.
Fighting was the reason Shannon was kicked out of her third year junior cycle. Sheâd had enough of being ridiculed for so long that violence was the option. Her snarly words didnât stop but were simply fuel to the fire. Enough was enough, and it was too late when Shannonâs fist snapped into the girls face. It wasnât the first time sheâd been caught in a scuffle, but it was the first time sheâd retaliated. Adding that with her grades, she was gone immediately. All in all, school wasnât ever so fantastic for Shannon. Sure, she couldâve ignored it and kept her head down â exams and graduation were just around the corner, but she was too far gone for salvation. Unwilling to admit this, Shannon just wants somebody to care for her; more importantly, she wants to hear her father say he loves her. She knows she has to change who sheâs become to gain acceptance again, but sheâs hesitant to do so. And hanging out with Hunter Cooper is definitely not the best decision if sheâs aiming to head down the pathway of good intentions.

Gertrudis Nolan changed her name to Potnoodles when she turned thirty to signify a new chapter of her life. Of course, everyone who knows her birth name still calls her affectionately Gertie. Unless youâre one of her siblings, in which case you probably call her Potty or Weedpasta. However, she doesnât care what anyone calls her because sheâs confident in who she is. Which isâŠa really weird woman. She likes to get into peopleâs business and try to solve their problems in a calm manner, and when that doesnât work, she takes out her tarot cards and attempts to read their future. She is on the borderline of being a hippie and a hipster, and she doesnât care if you call her either. But she wasnât always that way.
As a child, Gertie learned to follow what everyone else did, even if she didnât like it. So she wrote with her right hand instead of her left, colored inside the lines, and cheered when it was recess time. As she grew older, she strived for popularity because thatâs what everyone wanted, but rarely succeeded in getting her peersâ approval. She was always jealous of her older brother Grayson for being so open and abnormal with everyone, and her younger brother Addley for his charm that got him everything he wanted. She thought college would be a new start, but it was the same, especially when she started pledging for sororities. But she was relentless.
It wasnât until after she graduated college that she began to see things in a new light. Always afraid of coming out to people and not being accepted, she kept her mouth shut about that part of her life, even to her family. Because whatever her family knew was sure to be known by any of her so-called friends. But as Gertie used her money to start up a business, she met and fell in love with an engaged woman. This began an era of experimentation, seducing and having an affair with the woman, making different-yet-creative choices for her business, and trying out things she had never tried. The woman left her fiancĂ©e at the alter to live with Gertie, but soon they found out moving in together was too much to handle and they broke up. With the break up, Gertie dove into more of her experiments, finally getting to know herself better and changing her name to Potnoodles because, in her words, âtheyâre my two favorite thingsâ.
However, since the coffee shop Gertie managed reminded her of the woman, she decided to leave town once and for all, heading to Long Beach, California because thatâs where a lot of her family seemed to be moving. She reestablished her business and changed the name to accommodate her strangeness and the nearby high school, which intrigued her very much. The shopâs new name: Lay GĂ© Caffes (pronounced like Les Gay CafĂ©). She hopes students of the school will visit and enjoy the aura of the place so her business can succeed. Sheâs a former trend-follower, current trend-setter. Now, sheâs ambidextrous, when she colors she creates the lines, and her recess is reading a good book.
