Yet more David Tennant and Michael Sheen at the Good Omens Premiere in London (because theyâre adorable together and I canât get enough of them)
(via @vermofftiss )
Idk if this has been done already...
But I found this parallel and itâs gonna be the death of me. Itâs stuck in my head now
So S O F T
Let me take your bags my friend
Youâve been carrying those for far too long
Troubled times are at an end
And weâre waiting to hear your song
I am the fire.

praise of an old dog
âMom! Can we go to the dog park? Pleeeeeeeease?â
I looked down at my daughter and my dog, Linus, who stared at me.
When I was younger, unmarried, and doing repertory Shakespeare in Oregon fifteen years ago, I stayed in a house owned by two of the loveliest humans ever. After the shows were all up and running, I called them and asked if they had children. When they said no, I responded, âThen Iâm going to give you an experience you may have missed out on. PLEASE CAN I HAVE A DOG PLEASE CAN I HAVE A DOG PLEASE CAN I HAVE A DOG PLEASE CAN I HAVE A DOG PLE-â
They said yes. I went to the pound and found Linus, is the short version of the story.
Linus is a mixture of Mostly Border Collie, Probably Some Pit, and Various Questionable Other, according to my keen and practiced eye. But mostly Border Collie. When I adopted him, he was about four months old and full of boundless energy and intelligence, mixed with a teensy dollop of fear that one expects in a dog who has experienced a life that leads to incarceration. He was perfect.
I love what I see in puppies. I see unparalleled optimism and glee. I see a zest and love of life that nothing can deter. I see spirits determined to wrestle every drop of joy from every playmate they encounter, even if itâs their own tail. I adore puppies.
Linus is no longer a puppy. He trips when there are no obstacles and barks when there is no alarm. He wanders into a room and stops with an expression I remember from my fatherâs face right before he would ask if anyone had seen his glasses that were perched on top of his head. Linus is not filled with boundless energy and his intelligence cannot fully express itself through his muddled mind and stiff body. True, he seems pretty fearless, but that could be senility. I didnât see the point of taking him to the dog park.
âPleeeeeeeease? Look, heâs smiling. He wants to go!â
More to kill time than because I agreed, I acquiesced. We went to the dog park. And, spoiler alertâŠ. my dog is still perfect.
Huskies zoomed and Chihuahuas barked. Pit Bulls wrestled in the dust and the Australian Shepherd tried desperately to restore order to the situation. Cola, the lab puppy, pranced from group to group as each one distracted him with offers of EVEN MORE FUN! And Linus slowly and methodically peed a few times, then found a tennis ball.
My heart broke as I wondered what on earth he planned to do with it. He couldnât outrun the Labradoodle who would surely take it away from him the second it left his mouth. He probably wouldnât be able to even SEE it past ten feet. But when he dutifully brought it over to me, I looked into his eyes and he smiled.
Unparalleled optimism and glee. Zest. Love of life that nothing can deter. A spirit determined to wrestle every drop of joy from every playmate he encounters. And now, he says, if you can see it in me, you can find it in you.
We played fetch for an hour. He would hand me the ball, waddle a few feet, and I would throw it to him. Occasionally he would catch it, even! Often he would approach someone else with the ball, being the fair-minded and inclusive spirit he is. Every single person he met was enthralled by him. âHeâs fifteen? Heâs amazing! Still so happy!â
My old dog isnât meant to learn new tricks. Heâs meant to teach them to me.

Last nightâs episode was so amazing. I knew I already loved Steve Yockey, but now he has completely won me over. He is a great writer and he can stay. I wanted to talk about that song choice at the end of the episode. (I wonder if it was all his writing, or how much TPTB were involved in choosing it? Either way, itâs just an A+ choice in my book.)
The song is Steppenwolfâs âItâs Never Too Lateâ. I turned on the subtitles, and got some crappy screenshots for you guys. Itâs about 40% gayer now. Oooh boy. Here goes:
The song starts playing right after Dean has shared his feelings (what is that character development?! I am LIVING) - âI just need a damn win.â Poor baby :â(
As the boys drive down the road the lyrics are timed so well. This is not a mistake. Thirteen seasons in, the writers/editors/directors know exactly what they are doing.
âYou say youâve only got one life to life. And when youâre dead youâre gone.â
Dean just died. Again. (Just another Tuesday for him.) The lyrics speak to that, and also fit the theme of death running throughout this episode and this season. But that last line also echoes back to the paradox that a Winchester never really stays dead. And what is Castiel? He is a Winchester. He is family. They boys have said as much in past episodes. So the rules of death donât apply to him either.
When Deanâs phone rings we donât get to hear the caller, but we do get this line:
âYou left us alone.â
Who left them alone recently? Mom and Cas, as Dean keeps reminding us.
And then we LITERALLY GET A LIGHT SHINING ON DEANâS FACE WHEN HE REALIZES WHO IT IS. THIS SHOW ISNâT EVEN SUBTEXT ANYMORE WHAT EVEN?!
I also wanted to call out this beautiful imagery as the boys drive down the alley. Further proof of who the call was from.
I love Jerry Wanek with my entire gay ass.
âTell me whoâs to say after all is done, and youâre finally gone, you wonât be back again.â
I meanâŠDo I even need to expand on that? What a great line. To me it sounds hopeful. And the lyrics point to someone singing this line to another person - not to or about themselves. (Dean singing praying to Cas? MaybeâŠ)
And then we get this beautiful cut to Castiel:
âItâs never too late to start all over again.â
Castiel is alive. He has escaped death again, like the Winchester he is. He has another chance to be with the ones he loves.
And who does the camera cut to?
Dean. Always Dean. 100% Dean. Forever Dean.
And that line is repeated as we see this shot of Dean. âItâs never too late to start all over again.â
Itâs important that the line was repeated for both Cas AND Deanâs reactions. Cas and Dean have both ignored their feelings for each other over the years. Neither one brave enough to make the first move. Both of them afraid to face the pain of possibly being rejected, or facing their own feelings of low self-worth - that they donât deserve the love they both so desperately want.
But now we are being shown that this is a new opportunity for them to be open and honest with each other about how they feel. They are finally coming together to be on the same page about their relationship, and what it means to both of them. They were both resurrected (within days? hours? idk timeline is hazy) to be with each other again. Itâs not too late for them. They are both alive. Their story isnât over yet. This is their chance to finally come together! (heh)Â
The final shot of the episode, the raw emotion on Casâ face when he sees Dean⊠Heâs so glad to see Dean again he almost cannot believe it is actually happening. Wow. Fucking punch me in the face it would hurt less.
Side note: The last shots of the episode do not include Sam. They could have given us a two-shot of both brothers standing by the Impala seeing Cas again - but they didnât. This is a moment just for Cas and Dean. Now of course, Castiel considers both brothers to be his family. He loves both of them. But he loves each of them differently. The Show has been telling us this since season 4. It has been used as a joke at times, or it was merely hinted at. But now it is fully out in the open for even the casual viewer to see. This is how you develop a relationship. This is how you show that what weâre watching is a true love story.
IF THIS IS WHAT WE CAN EXPECT FROM SEASON 13 THEN HOLY CHUCK WE ARE ALL BLESSED AND I COULDNâT BE MORE EXCITED

i justâ
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about Cas in the big empty. Like wow, so many.
First of all, the fact that the cosmic entity took on the Castielâs form is huge. We see the entity upset with Cas for not doing what he wants him to do. In real life we are often our own worst enemies. The entity sees Cas as his enemy, stopping him from doing what he wants to do most. He lashes out at our Cas. He feeds Cas with all of the doubts and fears that Cas has had since he came to earth. He shows Cas all of his âfailingsâ (in quotes, because rewatching, I tried to see the good in these moments and it wasnât hard at all. These moments represent love, sacrifice, and redemption to me) in an attempt to break Castiel.
But Castiel fights back. He is in pain. He is suffering. He is hurt. (I mean just look at his eyes in that third picture). But he fights. And he reminds the entity that he will always fight. That he will never let it go. Because he knows what is there on earth for him. He knows he needs to leave. He fights. He always keeps fighting. And while we canât be 100% sure on what version of Cas has returned to earth yet⊠it appears as though he has won his battle right now. (fingers crossed!!! although Iâm sure heâll be affected somehow!)
I saw this as a message to the viewers. Itâs not just about Cas. Itâs about our own battles. Our own demons (or cosmic entities, whatever!) and how we battle them daily. Itâs about how we are our own worst enemies. How the meanest things said about ourselves often come from ourselves. How we constantly try to beat ourselves down. How we focus on the negative so often, or how we relive those moments of pain. And itâs not that we âshouldnâtâ do this, sometimes we need it to move on. But we canât let it beat us down. We have to fight back. We have to be Castiel in the Big Empty. When we feel alone and we are battling ourselves, we have to remember our Sam and Dean. We have to remember the good weâve done. We have to remember what we are fighting for.
Each moment of Cas in the Big Empty really struck me. As I rewatched with the captions (I only have an antenna for live watching, so no cc, plus I live tweet so I always miss SOMETHING!), I picked up on so many of the words and moments that entity!Cas used against our Cas and it really struck me as a message to always keep fighting.
I think thatâs pretty amazing for a scene performed by two Mishaâs with an entirely empty/black setting. There was nothing there except Cas and himself. He felt alone. He felt lost. He could only dwell on what he was missing out on. And it allowed him to focus and fight back. And it was powerful.
