wow so productive today
updated all my passwords, which took longer than expected, and why do i have so many random accounts on random websites?
deleted my twitter account, cuz only degenerates hang out there these days
relaunched an old muse after a four-year hiatus- was planning to delete it but read his bio and fell in love with him all over again

Luci, Mal, and Naha will still be around, but the rest are most likely getting dropped. They might get revamped in the future, but I've lost interest in them for the moment

Tyr frowns as he hears a twig snap. He looks up from the little deer he'd been carving. Sif is asleep next to him, covered with fur he'd brought from his rooms for this specific purpose. He rolls his eyes when he sees who it is. "What do you want Mal? Did Anasi follow you?" He pauses and looks down when Sif shifts but she remains asleep. The furs covering her body. He wears nothing on his chest, it's so hot for that. But Sif had never gotten used to the cold air this far north. He looks from her and titls his head to regard his newer brother. "What is it Malkiel?" //Tyr is like 20 and Anasi and Mal are maybe 16?? Set during the whole courting arc//
The question had arisen whether Malkiel was as adept at blending in as their own mimics, and he had grown tense at that. Zelmira strongly disliked the ‘housepets’ and since Malkiel had yet to form his own opinion on them, he couldn’t help but feel offended at the perceived insult. She had nearly talked him around to showing the other just why they shouldn’t be trifled with when Anasi had said there was a simple solution: take something easily noticed without being noticed.
Malkiel was fairly certain Zohar would notice the curtains in his bedroom were missing, but he was less certain where Anasi was. On the bright side, the urge to eat their visitor’s heart was much weaker now- was that a bright side, though? He was sure it would have been quite satisfactory.
“I take it that means Anasi didn’t go this way.” He sighed, already bored with this whole challenge. He dropped the pile of curtains at Tyr’s feet. “Well, if you see him before I do, give those to him, would you? I am hungry and I’m tired of carrying these around.”
I currently have only two awake muses, but Luci wants violence and Mal wants to get into trouble so they’re both kinda useless atm
The flower was bright, like the sun, and even the same color. It reminded Malkiel of Charis, which was why he had chosen it.
He left it on the other's pillow, for him to find when he returned from his studies. Giving gifts was as much fun as receiving them and he hoped Charis liked it as much as he did.
He did not have the patience to wait, however, and there had been other colorful flowers like this one, so Malkiel flew off back to the meadow, humming softly.

Zohar sighed and rubbed his temples. He had an empire to run, a war to stop - he did not have time for this.
"Why would - I thought he liked me papa."
Charis held the yellow flower by the tip of one of its petals. He sniffed and brushed at his eyes. They were red Zohar could feel his irritation give way to genuine sadness.
"Perhaps he didn't know little graceling?"
He ran a hand through his youngest son's hair.
"No, he does. He does, Anasi told me knows. I just - I wish I was strong enough to ask if this was decision he made this morning or a week ago. Maybe I could have saved some time. What do you think Pa?"
He looked up confused when he realized he was alone in his room. When had his father left?
"Papa?"

"Anasi what are you doing?"
Anasi looked up from the brocade bracelet he was assembling.
"A courting gift for Sinai for when she comes here for Sohia's debute. Why?"
He set his tools down and titled his head.
"Is Charis alright...he's closed himself -"
"Malkiel rejected him, I need you to fix this."
Anasi blinked and shook his head.
"That - that isn't possible, Mal loves him he -"
"Anasi if I wanted excuses I would have talked to Malkiel myself. Just fix this, and use pearls not diamonds if you're going for a water theme. The pearls will pair better with the lapis lazuli."
Anasi flushed as his father turned away and walked out of the dining room he'd been in. Anasi sighed and traced a sigil to keep anyone from touching it.
He stood and went to find Malkiel. It wasn't hard to spot him.
"So...did you give a Charis this morning?"
Maybe it hadn't been from him? He couldn't see Malkiel outright rejecting Charis without at least talking to him first.
Malkiel was calmly chewing on a honeycomb he had acquired. He'd wanted to know what the flowers tasted like and water alone had not been enough to wash the taste away.
He brightened at Anasi's question. That meant Charis was home!
"Does he like it? They were so bright and beautiful, they made me think of him when I saw him. But they don't taste at all how they look."
He didn't wait for an answer, already skipping cheerfully down the path. Charis was home, so there was no reason for Malkiel not to be as well.
Anasi ran after him touching his elbow, he didn't want to outright grab him.
"Wait! Remember when I told you different flowers mean different things? I think the flower you gave while probably beautiful sent the wrong message."
He rubbed the back of his neck and gave a tight smile. Better to just come out and say it, Mal wasn't one for subtly after all.
"He - he thinks you rejected him Mal. I - I'm not sure he's going to be happy to see unless..."
He picked at some rue and aster and held them out to Malkiel.
"Rue for regret and aster for love and trust. That should be enough for him to let you talk to him."
Malkiel stilled. His wings drooped; and while they did not change color, they did fade until the colors were nearly washed out.
"I thought you'd be able to tell just by looking at them."
He took the flowers gingerly, eyeing them warily. He did trust Anasi; it was the vast array of plants around them and the many possible meanings he was unaware of that gave him pause.
"I don't see why you can't just say what you mean. And what does this mean? I thought it was just a gift, I didn't know he was trying to tell me something."
He touched the soft petals of the beautiful red tulip he had received. He would never have guessed such an innocent thing would set off this chain reaction.
“It’s alright you don’t know. It’s just how things are done. I’m sure once you get him talking he’ll tell you exactly how he feels. Red Tulips mean Undying love, Passion, and Perfect love. He thinks you both are perfect together.”
He hummed and whistled calling for his Mimic, it landed on his shoulder holding a small thick book in its beak. It blinked at Mal and flew off to the tree.
“Maybe this will help you? We used this book to learn. There are other ways to court too, I know Sinai likes anything from the beach so I bring her those not flowers - not after she’s accepted my proposal anyway.”
He smiled, his blush evident on his dark skin.
“I hope you both get along. Once the flower part is done you can figure out how you want to do your own courting. I know Sif and Tyr gave feathers and pelts from their hunts to each other - it’s just what you both want to do. But flowers start the whole thing.”
“Maybe.”
He stared at the book doubtfully. He didn’t have much patience for books- they required one to sit still, and he found that difficult at times.
He sighed and turned back to the path. His shuffle now was much slower than his previous dash. He cast one last uncertain glance back at Anasi before turning down the hallway that led to Charis’s rooms.
“Charis?”
He glanced down, fidgeting nervously with one of the stems. He had made a mistake earlier, and Anasi had told him how to fix it, yes, but he didn’t like that he had hurt the other.
“The sun flower* looked prettier than it speaks. I’m sorry, I didn’t-”
In a fit of nerves, he shoved everything into Charis’s hands. Feeling the sticky residue left behind, he realized he had given away the partially eaten honeycomb as well.
He sighed, looking away as heat rose in his face. His wings shifted color yet again, seeming to almost melt into the wall.
“I’m sorry, I keep messing up-”
Alpine green eyes watched Mal and he licked at his paw before he shifted into his human form. "My mother likes you, don't disappoint her."
He turned hissing softly as he saw one of the wild mimics staring at him. It snuck away slowly. "Do they always follow you around? I don't like them." He glared at them and shuddered.
"They're everywhere."
"I don't go out of my way to please or displease people, so I don't see why I should care."
He was never alone- mimics, elementals, wraiths... they were always nearby so he had grown accustomed to their presence.
"They go where they please, same as yourself."
"Hael!!" Israfel burst into Raphael's office. "Look at this painting I did! Tell me this won't piss Lu off! I call it....Cat or Angel? Do you like it?" Azazel chuckled from the doorway. "I told you were working but she said, and I quote: Raphael needs to see this and she'll thank me for saving her from boring paperwork."
She gave a momentary sigh of annoyance, but pushed back the paperwork. Irritation quickly gave way to amusement as she gazed at the painting.
"Oh my. You can't keep that to yourself; it needs to go someplace everyone can see. Then he can't make it mysteriously disappear."

Frenzy

The town didn’t matter, Charis and Anasi were far from it. One of the mimics looked up from the bone it was gnawing on. The red in their eyes had faded, their father’s connection was slowly overpowering the bloodust in the air.
But the Mimic didn’t look to perturbed, it’s body was covered in red and brown. The town was demolished to rubble.
“Are you here to feed little brother? The music is gone unfortunately.”
Still bits of it clung to the marrow of bodies, and the mimic went back to its bone.
He carefully picked his way through the town, brow burrowing in some distaste at the way the colors clashed together here.
A shudder, and then his wings flowed with vivid violets and blues and greens. Satisfied that it was enough to compensate for the muted coloration of the town, he continued on his way until he found some sign of life.
He stood next to the mimic in silence, surveying the ruins. He knew he disliked being interrupted while eating, so he waited until it spoke.
He shook his head.
"I have already eaten. I merely came to see if you had managed to come to an agreement."
He could tell the answer judging by the state of the town but he felt no need to elaborate.
Devouring Melody

Malkiel stumbled into the kitchens. He had woke up from his nap ravenous and was hoping to pester one of the cooks into giving him something to hold him over until lunch.
“What are you doing here? Out!”
“But I-”
He blinked slowly. He felt something- something he’d only heard through some of his clustermates until now. He tugged, not noticing the sudden blank expression that had come over the cook’s face, caught up in the deep baritones that now thrummed in the air.
Hurried footsteps...a panicked voice that turned to anger, and then that was gone too, replaced with soft chords.
Humming quietly, Malkiel turned from the kitchen, going where the music took him. It was almost deafening, drowning out everything except the need to keep it going. The ground was beginning to break under his feet, flowers springing forth from the cracks as he passed as he attempted to add his own melody.

Zelmira, as usual, was well ahead of the cluster. She strode through the city, a spring in her step. Each passing demon was nothing more than nourishment to her, but it could not satisfy her. Darkness grew, slowly choking out the sunlight. With each essence she took, the hunger only grew, but she took no notice of it, her mind only on the music.

me: it’s okay. This isn’t school. You can still get an A in fic writing without all that stuff.

*sighs* multiple series in different worlds but in the same universe that all need to be at least somewhat plotted out before beginning even one because they interweave with one another and all the details need to be right because they all end in a mega crossover.
Its a lot of fun don't get me wrong, but sometimes I wonder if I'll ever finish it because adhd

Sinai giggled and dug her toes in the sand. "You should try it Mal, it feels so nice. I - I'm not a mimic but I've always been fascinated with touch. Everything about the sea calls to me."
She sighed and fell back onto the beach.
"I was telling Ani, we should build our home by the sea so we could wake up to the ocean. My mother told me as a little girl I must have been blessed by Lumus himself. What's your favorite type of nature Mal?" She asked turning to look at him.
He carefully picked his way through the sand, sighing when he finally reached the water. He did like the feeling of the sand under his feet but disliked when it got in his wings. Sometimes one had to accept the bad in order to appreciate the good.
"It is the best place to have a home. The ocean is wild and beautiful and powerful, everything nature is intended to be. Celestials have yet to figure out how to tame it and I hope they never do."
He noticed a sea turtle wedged between some rocks, and he hopped over nimbly to free it. Once the creature had been liberated, he sighed in pleasure, watching it swim away. Belatedly realizing he had been in the middle of a conversation, he returned to Sinai's side.
"They gave me a name, but I also gave myself a name. It is more of a sensation, but if you said it aloud-" His head tilted and he stared at the waves as he formed the words in his mind and tried to put them in the right order. "I am Rush of the High Tide. It's a mouthful when you hear it out loud, yes, but when you feel it instead of speaking it, it is just right."

Erosion

Azag threw his sword down and looked at Malkiel.
"I don't give a fuck about what the Celestials considers theirs. Tell your angel that this mountainside is not theirs to claim."
This mountainside were the domain of the Titan elemental Theia. It was said when the first bits of life appeared on earth she wept with joy.
Her tears became the precious metals and gems that are now buried throughout the lands. Miners and those who live near the mountains still keep altars to her.
Azag's children had hidden themselves in the Crags and crevices of the mountainside. But they watched Malkiel with interest.
They had never heard of a mimic bonding to an angel before. Angels were food not friends.
Malkiel tilted his head and regarded Azag with mild disapproval.
"There really is no need for such language. It's easy enough to get your point across without being rude."
He studied the area intently. It was interesting, yes, but nothing he deemed worth fighting for. That was not his decision to make, unfortunately.
"They don't care what you think is yours, either. I suppose you'll have to fight it out."
Azag rolled his eyes.
"My manners weren't something that my parents gave time or care about. Too wrapped up in each other and their music."
He grinned and whistled, the other mimics all answered.
"I think my children would like that bet. I bet they miss the taste of angel meat. It has been a while, we've been in the human lands - easy meat but no challenge."
He crossed his massive arms and regarded the other.
He stilled, listening to the answering calls, before turning to eye Azag speculatively.
"It makes no difference to me what you do here- I did not come to stop you. You should note however that unlike you and the Celestials, I do not care about this land of yours. Touch my angel-" he grinned. "And I will raze your precious mountains to the ground until nothing is left of them but a memory."
He shrugged.
"Your parents' lack of decorum is no excuse. You should learn a bit of diplomacy."
He hummed.
"I will concede that point, but it's not the brothers who raised me cared. We were hunted Malkiel, decorum wasn't something that mattered back then.
Azag titled his head and rose hie eyebrow.
"Which one is yours again? I don't pay attention to things that don't effect me."
"He is with Prince Charis father, I've heard it from my elemental."
The voice echoed and the Mimic who it belonged crawled above them, it's eyes a shifting green - of forests and seas.
Azag hummed and tilted his head.
"Charis I respect, he fights with his people and refuses to live in a castle. He will not be harmed if he doesn't get involved. Isn't there another angel your bonded too?"
Malkiel raised an eyebrow.
"More excuses. We have been hunted as well. But no matter."
He was done with this argument. It would only keep circling back, and Malkiel would not push change on those who did not want it.
"I will speak to the Celestials and see if they will come to an agreement and if not...Charis and Anasi will sit this fight out. I will see to it. I wish you well in your hunt."
