Ike Davis: Announces retirement
Welp.
MY GUY.
This was coming into tonightās game. Heās already got another single.
Ike Davis signed by Dodgers to minor league contract
The Dodgers added another player with big-league experience by signing first baseman Ike Davis to a minor-league contract with a non-roster invitation to spring training.
Davis, 29, figures to be injury insurance behind Adrian Gonzalez.
Davis hit 32 home runs and drove in 90 runs for the New York Mets in 2012. Since then, however, he has bounced from the Mets to the Pirates to the Aās to the Rangers to the Yankees, combining to hit .222 with a .681 OPS and 23 home runs in about 900 at-bats scattered over the past four seasons.
Last year, Davis went 3 for 14 in eight games with the Yankees, spending most of the season in Triple-A where he hit .248 with nine home runs in 65 games.
Davis is one of nine former big-leaguers among the Dodgersā 22 non-roster invitees for spring training.

Davis found himself greeted enthusiastically by fans in New York who said they missed him.
āPeople still embrace me here,ā said Davis, who slugged 32 homers for the Mets in 2012. āI donāt know why thatās true, but I appreciate it.ā
Another former Met, Josh Satin, also was surprised to discover that he had fans.
āWhen I was playing for the Mets, it was Ike and I ā we were the Jews in New York,ā Satin said. āI was just a two-year utility player, but I felt like the city gravitated toward me. A kid would come up to say hello, and Iād say: āHow do you recognize me? I play once a month.āā
