WEAK HEART NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY?
Hello doves! I’ve had a lot of people reach out saying that Weak Heart isn’t available to buy in their country, either thru e-book or paperback.
Unfortunately there’s not a lot I can do about this (especially the paperback) but I do have a compromise!
If you are unable to purchase it in your country, I can send you a PDF. All you have to do is make a donation to a charity of your choice, totalling at least $5 USD, and send me proof. In exchange, I will email you a PDF version of Weak Heart which includes some of the lovely artwork featured on the website by @jessethejoyful.
This offer goes for anyone, really, but specifically to a lot of people who are unable to read otherwise :)
THOUGH OF COURSE, REMEMBER, THE WHOLE STORY IS FREE TO READ IN SEGMENTS AT WEAK-HEART.COM

I am absolutely starstruck, that the main Weak Heart page has been reblogging all my fanart. You definitely don’t have to, I am going to do a lot more in the future. Just like…the characters man. They’re all so, like…..visually pretty. alkhds;lijlljslej
How did I miss this!! My goodness. She’s gorgeous
WEAK HEART NOW AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK
Hello friends and happy Sunday! I come bearing wonderful news: WEAK HEART is now available to purchase on Amazon as a physical paperback.

Thank you to everyone who asked for this. I’m extremely excited to be able to make this available, finally.
Additionally, 50% of all royalties from the paperback sales will be going to Tiny Changes, a Scottish charity set up in honour of Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison, which aims to raise awareness about children and young people’s mental health issues.
Earlier this month I mentioned that all royalties made from Weak Heart during the month of June would be donated to the Trevor Project. My sales absolutely skyrocketed after that post, and I cannot thank you all enough. Today I posted the last chapter of Weak Heart — a story that, in many ways, mirrored my own journey — and made our donation to the Trevor Project.
This past week was one of the worst in recent memory, but today felt like a break in the clouds. I’m proud of myself, and proud of us, and so incredibly proud of this book.
The original draft of Weak Heart is almost unrecognisable to the story that you all have read. It was dark and bleak, and it handled a lot of heavy things: alcoholism, depression, self-doubt, and, most prominently, suicide. It was a story about four people who couldn’t find their places in life. I wrote it because it was my story, and I wanted to share it. I wanted to put it into words and have people know.
But somewhere down the line of writing this book and showing it to the people I love, I realised that just because I had lived through these things didn’t mean they were my story. My journey has had it’s bad days, yes, but it’s also had its good. My story is one of alcoholism and depression and self-doubt and suicide, but it’s also one of found families, of friends, of opening yourself to love, and of learning to trust your instincts.
That’s the story I wanted to tell. That’s the story I wanted to be.
There were points in my life where I looked at my worst parts and I let myself believe that was all I was. There were parts of my life when I was drowning, and I wouldn’t let anyone save me. There were times when who I was and who I loved seemed like it would sink me. But I made it through. And I’m so grateful I did, so I could be posting this today.
Thank you all for supporting me through this storytelling journey, for reading and buying and talking about Weak Heart and cheering me on. Thank you for helping me do something meaningful to wrap up the final chapter. I have big things on the horizon (some of which are, yes, Weak Heart related), and I can’t wait to share those journeys with you as well. Thank you all for being my friends.
Much love and eternal gratitude,
Ban

Chapter twenty-two is live!

It takes me a century to get my limbs in working order to untangle myself from the blankets and stand. The world spins for a moment, and then settles. Calm. Steady. Nothing creeping or lurking or watching. No one in my brain but me.
WEAK HEART IS NOW COMPLETE.

I don’t really know what to do with myself.
I feel like I should feel different, somehow. Like giving up my pelt should have fundamentally changed me. But I can still feel the ocean in front of me, and if I walked outside, I’d hear the herd singing. And I feel the same. Tired. Cold. Hungry.

When everyone goes off to give Owen a new life, I fill up the tub to drown myself.
Chapter twenty is live!
Content Warning: drowning, exorcism
This isn’t my first exorcism. I’m intimately familiar with the rites and rituals associated with them in every culture. They’ve ranged from boring, to terrible, to downright comical — like the friendly Norwegian man who tied me to a chair and doused me in ram’s blood. (When my visions were still there the next day, he gave me several Gullbrød bars and my money back, and recommended I see a mental health professional.)

It had been so long since I’d walked on top of the grass that I’d lost count of the centuries. The cave was still there — the only dim memory I have from my time as a human — and the sea was still turning, the island still lonely and deserted.

WEAK HEART + The Trevor Project
Hello loves! And once again, happy Pride!
Every Pride I make an effort to give back to the community that has loved me and found me and given me a home, which is why this year, I will be donating 100% of Weak Heart’s June royalties to The Trevor Project, as well as an additional matching donation of my own.
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. They provide free services such as:
Trevor Lifeline—The only national 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention lifeline for LGBTQ young people under 25, available at 1-866-488-7386.
TrevorChat—A free, confidential, secure instant messaging service for LGBTQ youth that provides live help from trained volunteer counselors, open daily.
TrevorText—A free, confidential, secure service in which LGBTQ young people can text a trained Trevor counselor for support and crisis intervention, available daily by texting START to 678678.
One of my best friends (who I met through this blog) had her life saved by The Trevor Project, and I cannot imagine what my life and the world would be without her. By supporting The Trevor Project, you can save lives and give kids someone safe to turn to.
My initial plan was to not tell anyone that I was donating proceeds, but then I thought, well, if anyone is on the fence about buying the book, why not let them know they can do some good with it?

“I want what all monsters want,” Owen says, his voice stronger. The vowels fall thick and heavy off his tongue. “To be human.”

Tanis’s fingernails are caked with dirt, but I don’t mention it. It’s probably a health hazard for her to be treating my cuts while covered in mud and grass, but considering that she was just buried alive, it would probably be shitty to say something.
Chapter seventeen is live!

The sticky, squinty feeling is gone from Cormac’s kitchen — gone from the whole house, in fact — and I can breathe easy instead of feeling like the weight of reality is bearing down on me.
The house looks normal again, but that’s almost worse. Because now I can see the dirty dishes in the sink, the fresh food in the fridge, the signs of life that prove Owen was here all along. He might even have been here when I first came to look. I could have seen him here that first day and had the memory of it pulled right out of my brain.

But this isn’t our normal evening sit. There’s no tea. No beer. None of Thomas’s awful music filtering through his cheap mobile. Owen isn’t here either, and for good reason. We’re hiding from him.
Chapter sixteen is live!
CONTENT WARNING: violence, blood, panic attacks
I know it won’t be that easy, though. Nothing is ever that easy. We’ll have to plan. And we’ll have to pretend like nothing is wrong. I don’t know if Thomas can do that. He’s terrible at lying; I can always see through him. I hope Owen can’t.

I nearly fall five times as I run aimlessly through the heather and across the empty hillsides, trying to find Tanis.
But she’s gone. Turned into a wolf or turned into the wind, completely out of sight. Disappeared.

There’s blood and salt water in my mouth when I wake. At some point between my head splitting open with pain in front of the Washer and blinking awake into the wet darkness I’m currently in, I bit through my tongue.
Chapter fourteen is live!
Content Warning: blood, panic attack, scenes of a tense nature
Spitting the blood out onto the ground, I push myself up with aching limbs and look around. It’s pitch black all around me, but I’m in water. I’m soaked through, and my movements cause splashing noises to echo off the walls. Stone walls; they scrape at the cuts on my hand when I reach out to steady myself.
The sea cave. I’m in Eòghan's Cave.

I finished Weak Heart last night! And went back through my bookmarks for something to paint because omg.
Here’s Isla in the cave, or Thomas’s vision of her anyway. Sea grass hair was a failure, but I’m so pleased with how her face turned out.
This is IMPECCABLE. Absolutely stunning 😭😭
