@wearenotallpowerful
I found this scene particularly beautiful visually
I want you to close your eyes. I want you to imagine everything I tell you as if you’re there yourself.
okay, so i’ve been sitting on this OA theory, and i am trying to work through it properly - which is, are Prairie’s boys all medium/special in some way?
like. there is a theory going about in the tags that the wind and the trees are speaking to french in the same way they they spoke to the oa (both in part 1 and 2). bba is shown being capable of glimpsing through dimensions, in a more effective way than hap eating the flowers/petals. of all the people who seemed to have finished the game, alfonso, jesse, steve and buck were the few who did, despite millions of people playing.
it can be that they are connected to prairie the same way she is connected to hap (an echo through the dimensions), but even then it seems unlikely that of the 5 people that answered oa’s call in the video, 2 of them just happen to be mediums. it may be that all 5 of them are special in some way, which is what brought them together in the first place
also it’s interesting to notice that in the flower tank of hap’s office, there appeared to be only boys/men in the water - jesse, steve, alfonso, scott, the boy who collapsed in the first episode…was buck there as well before they moved him to elo musk 2.0′s personal quarters? why isn’t someone like, say, angie in there as well?
@scottsumrners
If an event can echo through dimensions, then the school shooter/five movements must have echoed, meaning the Crestwood 5 are destined to be in OA’s storyline regardless of what dimension that’s in.
Buck - connection through voice (song/Rachel)
Steve - connection to OA; physical (leader of movements)
French - connection to nature (wind/trees, plays outdoor sports)
BBA - connection to spirit (practices religion, dead brother)
Jesse - connection to emotion (empath, dead mother)
[worms] they live without any ability to see or even know about light, right? The notion of light to them is unimaginable. We humans, we know that light exists all around them, right on top of them. They cannot sense it but with a little mutation they do. Perhaps some humans - rare humans - have mutated to have another sense. A spirite sense. And can perceive a world that is right on top of us.

WAS OA KIDNAPPED BY A FAMILY MEMBER?
We have no idea what really happened to OA. One of the most debated theories at the moment is whether the whole story of being kidnapped by HAP is actually one big lie wrapped up in a riddle, concealing a much darker truth we are not prepared to deal with.
Given the above snippet could OA’s kidnapping have been orchestrated by someone closer to home? One that even the audience or her followers would struggle to stomach? With this interpretation this could mean that; Nancy, Able or her father could be responsible for her disappearance and possibly torture. Just to confuse things more we also hear about an uncle of Nancy’s at the beginning and I’m constantly wondering whether OA really is an only child.
Since I’m only looking at episode 1 I won’t go into this fully now but I’ll leave some other links I’ve made from the top of my head;
Nancy: Nancy talks about in a later episode with Able how she wanted to look after OA forever. Could this have a more sinister meaning? There’s also the box of sharp implements picked up by OA. While these could be an innocent supply of household implements you have to admit that’s a lot of sharp objects.
Abel: Nothing to see here.
Roman Azarov (Nina’s/OA’s Father): Again not sure where to start here but like french points out in a later episode, Nina’s father and HAP share some similar qualities. Could they be one and the same? Originally I interpreted HAPs feelings as sexual but could they have been platonic all along? OA’s premonition is about meeting her father but could it have come true all along? Finally, her father was always adamant that he would recognise her playing. Could this be the indicator that HAP is also her father?
Nancy’s Brother and the sibling: A long shot.
@heartcathedrals asked:
@wearenotallpowerful this may be a stupid questions but are we really to disregard the entire narrative of the oa that she tells the boys and bba? Are we to believe everything she said was untrue because of the books under her bed?
The question about whether it’s true or not based on the books is a bit unimportant to me if I’m honest, even though it’s a valid question because of course, it is possible. I'm not sure what it provides if not just an oversimplified solution when there are other layers to look into and explore. If you cut yourself off at that point you miss out on a whole load of other mysteries and questions so I think it depends on how much you like exploring. For me the purpose isn’t to find that kind of an answer but to explore the world, workings and mythology a bit; sort of like die hard Potter fans who get into the nitty gritty of inconsequential magical info - and then get to that kind of answer once it comes from the author themselves. At the end of the day we will never know till the show ends anyway, and of course it’s all fiction anyway. Also I’m genuinely interested in what kind of puzzle Zal and Brit have put together since I’m not familiar with this sort of encryption at a literary level.
To answer your question though I don’t see why both can’t be true.
There’s a line of thought that says we are seeing many stories from different dimensions play out. What if OA isn’t Prairie, but a version of herself from another dimension.? In Prairie’s dimension she was kidnapped by a relative and in OA’s she was taken by HAP (if the story is to be taken literally).
Or maybe something crazier is taking place.
To be honest though you bring up a good point which is what are the key questions if any of the series. When I watch it I’m no longer trying to answer anything, but questions start to come up. The problem is I tend to forget them.
Edit in relation to the origional post: Someone pointed out that the tupperwear box doesn't necessarily mean Nancy and Abel are sinister parents or abductees. Rather it highlights the worry that Prairie, having just jumped off a bridge, might harm herself again. Given I wrote this ages ago I think this is worth saying. The box, as weird as it is, is actually very understandable.
What would happen if you watched the OA backwards in a mirror?
