His father had never told him to ignore a stranger in need; and that’s what Georgie saw standing mere feet away. The man was drenched to the bone, suit jacket seeming to merge to his slick skin.

“ It’s real cold out, mister! “

The boy calls up to the other, who could’ve quite possibly not heard his words. Georgie’s removing his hat either way, eyes scrunching shut against the icy droplets. He holds it up to the other, lips twisting into a welcoming grin.

The looming figure is alerted by the tiny, high-pitched voice that pipes up beside him - seemingly out of nowhere. Wide-eyed and alerted, Bubba looks to and fro, trying to find the source of the noise. It’s absolutely pouring outside and he’s soaked right to his socks, freezing and miserable and scared. His trusty chainsaw had been left at home and he feels naked without it.

This was supposed to be a FUN DAY OUT at the local carnival with Paul - but it stopped being fun when he and his brother got separated in the crowd. He’d been searching for him for what feels like hours and is beginning to fear the worst. While Paul means well, he’s got a tendency to wander. Sometimes he wandered far. What if that’s what’s happened today, Bubba frets? What if he can’t find him at all? What’s he going to tell Drayton?

Bubba’s fearful gaze eventually settles onto the figure in question, softening at the realization that it’s only a child. Where are his parents? He watches curiously as the little boy takes the yellow hat off his head and holds it out to him in offering. While deeply touched (and admittedly surprised) by the gesture, Bubba has to shake his head, bending down and gently pushing the youngster’s hand back.

You need that thing a lot more than I do.

Give characters bad, stupid, ugly reactions to things.

Show all sides of mental illness.

It’s ok for characters to be inexperienced.

It’s ok for characters to fail/make a bad cool/judge someone wrong.

they don’t have to be a child prodigy. You can start learning at any age.

I promise that character won’t stop being desirable if they vomit or piss themselves in front of a horrifying or disgusting display.

Don’t desensitize them to violence and gore in a span of a day.

Let them be irrational now and again.

Let them be outright dumbasses sometimes.

Let them change their minds.

Let them cry unattractively.

Let them have ugly scars.

It’s ok if they look unattractive at times, even if they are meant to be hot.

Just allow them to be human and less than perfect.

@twiinned gets a very angry brother. It was nice knowing you, Nubbins.

If there’s one thing Bubba is well-known for in the Sawyer household, it’s his seemingly infinite patience with his younger brothers. From an early age, he learned to recognize what their nagging cries for attention actually meant and how to handle them. In the case of Paul, that’s all he really wants to begin with: attention. And Bubba, having favoured his youngest sibling since birth, is more than happy to give it to him. It’s seldom the pair are often seen apart anyway - wherever Bubba goes, Paul is sure to follow. That’s the way it’s been for as long as any of them can remember and that’s the way it always will be, as far as the two brothers are concerned.

In the case of Nubbins, Bubba finds that the other twin is much more tolerable when left to his own devices. He loves Nubbins, he really and truly does - but he’s never truly felt comfortable around his brother. Truth be told, Nubbins frightens him. Always so quick to resort to violence, to RELISH in it - not just towards the cattle they slaughtered for dinner, but towards his family as well. Towards Paul, for reasons Bubba cannot even begin to understand. It’s been that way since they were children, and rather than getting better over time, things only seem to be getting worse.

Which is what’s brought Bubba to Nubbins’ bedroom door so late at night. This isn’t the first time he’s confronted his younger brother over his cruel treatment of Paul, but threats - or even sometimes physical blows - only prove to be temporary solutions. It’s always Paul who stops Bubba from doing worse, begging and pleading him to show Nubbins the mercy his twin had never shown him.

Well, this time isn’t like all the other times. Paul isn’t here to serve as the buffer between his brothers now - he’s too busy nursing the most recent wounds Nubbins had given him. And after much internal debate, Bubba has come to the conclusion that enough is enough.

Stone-faced behind the mask he wears, he raises a fist and bangs on the wooden door. Three times, in succession.

And then he waits.
